@nprofile…3gx9 Hi Nathan, I have a couple of questions about inference.coop: have you registered it as a LCA? Do you have bylaws? I see you have 80 contributors, are they all members?
Btw - the docs available on git seem very clear and designed to help members consider the various options. But nothing about larger implications. I suppose the target audience has already decided that agentic AI is inevitable.

@nprofile…u5ak ugh, one of those books that I think I'll have to read but am not excited about (Varoufakis is great, just find the "whole new type of economic system" arguments tiresome). I wonder if techofeudalism is similar to (Henry) Georgism?

Maybe my favorite part of cooking beans is going through and removing bits of clay that inevitably find their way in. This is a mix of Anasazi and Pinto beans. (Can you find the clay bit?)

@nprofile…8atu open as a labor movement, interesting. Maybe as a workers movement might be a better framing, since labor movement usually suggests unions and workers movement allows for a wider range of organizational forms?

@nprofile…scv2 His book WORKERS is stunning, also MIGRATIONS. I had the chance to see shows of his prints -- amazing work. Workers had an impact on me as a youngish radical -- the images of workers around the world in the late 20th century doing work that was largely invisible to people in the global north.

Starting to crank up the outreach for our April 26th #LaborNotes event in #Colorado Springs. Starting with my contacts and doing some "peer-esteem snowballing." We're doing a one-day "Secrets of a Successful Organizer" workshop. Cheesy title, but the content is solid and, above all, it provides a principled space and framework for participants to begin building grassroots, person-to-person, democratic networks.

Social.coop would not exist in its present form without the efforts of trans folks to make it a safer space, starting with demanding changes in policy and practice now reflected in our Code of Conduct and our moderation and membership ops.

In a recent conversation with @nprofile…6kmp I drew this crude diagram to explain how our #farm_club experiment was not about bringing all the factors of production under the control of the co-op business, but using cooperation among farmers, workers, and community members to build a commons. We are cooperativizing part of each farm's production process, including labor power, coordination, and c factor while commoning financial support and c factor. Commmons and Labor are the "organizing factors."

@nprofile…mhl7 @nprofile…4jfv Hi Luis, until a few days ago, I had a FB account. The fact that federation was not possible did not stop me from using that platform, maintaining those connections, etc. So, why would defederation force you to change instances? Why not just make an account on threads while keeping your SC account? Just curious.

How do cooperative enterprises differ?
A small example/anecdote: When I applied for a job at a big Japanese university I had to re-submit my CV. The problem? I had included my six years of "stay-at-home parent." That had to go in order for my CV to be accepted.
In our current co-op study/organizing circle, based on @nprofile…pc2f 's How to Create a Solidarity Enterprise, we each prepared a CV, and then a combined collective CV that recognized the importance of parenting and other care work.

My purslane campaign is advancing! Farmer Dan has added Verdolagas to his offerings on Open Food Network! Jenny and I washed and bunched them this morning.
We also had fun loading the Japanese Paperpotco seed paperpot chains with Fennel, Daikon, and Carrot seeds.

Looks like we have a new member of #farm_club, a young guy who studies geography and environmental science. I showed him the ropes and we rolled up lots of row cover. No longer needed at this point. We harvested verdolagas to add to the CSA share; farmer Susan is humoring me. (Eddie, the new guy, suggested using the Spanish name instead of purslane, widely known as a "weed".) After work, we took a dip in the Arkansas river, which is still running strong. Bliss.

Jamie Foxx says that Ray Charles once scolded him for playing the wrong note. "The right notes are all there, under your fingers. You just have to play them."
Herbie Hancock says that, while playing with Miles Davis, he played the wrong chord. Davis paused, then played a variation that made the chord fit in.
Life lessons.

Borscht recipe, I substituted garlic scapes for green beans and added shredded kale. Very nice chilled with fresh dill.

Just a few more things to clear up and the interview with Euclides André Mance will be ready to go. It´s long, maybe best to publish in two parts? I think people interested in cooperatives, solidarity economy, and software platforms will find it very interesting.
