What I'm looking for: A minimal immutable Raspberry Pi image that contains kernel & systemd and a robust a/b updater (systemd-sysupdate?). Plus the ability to persist systemd-sysext extensions. Nothing else.
That's it. Everything else i can add using sysext.
I guess I have to build this myself? Closest I can find is fedora coreos/iot and flatcar linux, but that's much too complicated for what I want.

I'm thinking about self hosted / community hosted printables / thingyverse lookalikes for sharing models. Does this exist?
How hard would it be to build this as a feature in forgejo? Thinking about a very extended /explore/repos page that can filter repos by a type/tag ("this repo is a 3d model"). I guess it's not possible to organize repos using tags or categories? Plus an integrated stl previewer, which should be easy.

I added livekit and lk-jwt-service to my #matrix homeserver so I can initiate calls and conferences.
Element X audio/video calling pretty much feels like Face Time. Better than Signal calls.

There seem to be two kinds of people. Those where #matrix mostly just works and those who run into all kinds of issues and complain 24/7 about how awful everything is.
I wonder why I'm in the first group. Seriously, what am I doing different?

Why do I want this? The best and cheapest zigbee dimmer Ikea RODRET can only bind to devices, not to groups (anymore..). So I want the coordinator to receive the press/release events from the remote and trigger dimmer actions on the zigbee group.
HA seemingly doesn't have any abstraction for that kind of actions on a dimmable light.
#homeassistant #zigbee2mqtt

2025-11-18 19:24:26 UTC

This is a topic I'm putting more effort into than I should: Smooth dimming and #homeassistant.
I don't want to loop over increasing brightness values that I send to individual lamps, I want a group of lamps to smoothly dim up or down by themselfes until I tell them to stop.
#zigbee2mqtt has brightness_move, ZHA has... nothing. The best I found is sending zha.issue_zigbee_group_command and reading ZCL to know which cluster/command/args to use. It works but it's not reliable when I just tried.

Glasfaser bestellen wollen ist der Wahnsinn.
O2 Bestellhotline: "Wartezeit 3 Minuten"
30 Minuten später:
Ich: "Hier meine Adresse, hier meine Glasfaser-ID von OXG. Könnt ihr mich versorgen? Ohne DS-Lite?"
O2: "Rufen sie mal bitte diese Hotline an, da gibt es technische Infos."
Neue Hotline: "Willkommen bei UGG Glasfaser"
Telefonica ist also raus.

This is the JetKVM DC extension. It contains a relay and rp2040 to control power to the target computer using uart. It can also power the JetKVM through the exension cable.
Sadly I can't use it until https://github.com/jetkvm/dc-extension-firmware/issues/1 is solved. Obviously this seems to be low priority at JetKVM, given that the firmware has 4 commits and no activity in three months. :/

What's happening here? My city is getting ready to defuse four suspected 2nd world war bombs. 8000 people had to leave the area, currently officials are roaming the streets checking if everyone has left.
When they dig up a bomb, the have to defuse or - if that's not possible - detonate it right after because it could blow up by itself once moved. That's why all people have to leave a 500m radius before they start digging.

IMHO that would justify a soft fork in case shit hits the fan.
From a user's perspective, gitea is still delivering OSS and has a history of reliably doing so. I'm not against Forgejo at all, but from what I see I just can't decide which of both is the more sustainable choice.

Why was a hard fork necessary?

2025-02-03 20:23:55 UTC

#Gitea vs. #Forgejo puzzles me a bit. From the outside, this looks much like a people don't like each other problem.
Gitea is still alive & OSS. Forgejo has 2k+ more commits, looks like that's mostly because they update dependencies like crazy.
I've got them both installed and they still look/feel/work exactly the same.

Have a *very* similar setup on a cheap N100 Mini PC but w/ CoreOS instead of RHEL and love everything about it. Some ~35 Containers plus action runners in 16GB ram with lots of headroom left and no resources wasted to a cluster mgmt plane in my little edge computer.
