Hey Fedifriends, I've created a MyMiniFactory store and started uploading some of my minis including the recent Rangers I've been posting. https://www.myminifactory.com/users/renegademinis I could use a little sharing to get the word out beyond the fediverse, and convince me this isn't a seriously foolish endeavour #minipainting

Really struggling to get consistent colours from my phone when taking photos but this almost-complete shot with the orange paint in seems to have picked up the most accurate representation of what it physically looks like, with how vibrant the colours are. The next shot had much brighter highlights and the photo just got blown out.

The absolute satisfaction! My partner had about a week worth of work setting up spreadsheets for all her teams plans for the year, long tedious stuff and very repetitive. We sat and figured out how to automate the vast majority of it with some really nice functions and a little scripting. Of course we also converted a bunch to text once done so it couldn't be messed up by careless low tech mana coworkers, and conveniently hides the automation so she can take it easy for the week. A wee bit of bright colours again today. I need a better camera or something to hold my phone steady now for better pictures. I realised after taking the pictures I had missed some wee details on the monkey guy but it's fine since I'm aiming for old school toy looks. I have two a4 ones now I think I'll get an a3 one next for some group photos and big minis. Here's Rawlings on a more appropriate stage. @nprofile…90gz #minipainting #miniaturepainting

Had fun painting nice easy browns and creams yesterday. Today I decided to just fuck that up. Yellow and Orange guy, just slapped some on there and now I have to just work towards somehow making it work lol. I just kept seeing lots of old toys that were yellow and orange and decided I had to. Maybe a grey blue on the other bits to balance ot a wee bit. #nerdlings #miniaturepainting

Alright I'm calling them done. This is my #fedipaint for December, glad to be part of it again and thanks always to @nprofile…tp3w for running it. This is Wiley Rawlings and Rufus Cogburn. Cogburn is an amoral engineer that installed an untested alien cognator into an old bar-bot, intending for it to serve him in his twisted operations, unfortunately along with the improved mental faculties Rawlings discovered a burning need to see justice done across the galaxy. #minipainting

#fedipaint progress, mostly worked on Rawlings (I don't think I ever remember the same spelling), mostly happy with the glow but still feel the colour scheme is off, I think the colours for the gun will either pull it together or ruin it. Just a little highlights on the red cloak for Cogburn I'm mostly just doing him when I'm letting paint dry. #minipainting

2024-12-19 16:54:14 UTC

Started a couple more guys, Rawlins and Cogburn, still going to do quick and fun painting for them but they'll get just a little extra love since this will also be my #fedipaint entry. Not sure about the colours on the bot but the plan is to brighten the blue a lot to be more metallic and less saturated so I think it'll work. Having weird issues with my Scalecolor red looking green when it dries, it maybe just doesn't mix well with the black, so I've resorted to 2 thin coats. #minipainting

Painting continues with Dog Holliday. Couldn't really capture the colour right on my phone, hopefully when I do the eventual glamour shots I will. I'll need to get round to the two that count as my Fedipaint entry but I'm trying to find my footing again with painting first. #minipainting

Finished the base colours on the bases so I can get into blocking in colours, but then I got distracted and wanted to paint so decided to break my rustiness on one of the less exciting ones. Of course I ended up really liking it. Based this guy on Elcor from Visionaries and there's just a joy to painting this simply. #minipainting

We found out cat, Remi, unfortunately he had been fatally injured. We've sorted all that out and are just sat in our grief missing him feeling very lost. Specifically I miss that he used to climb up on me if I was sitting on the sofa and give me actual kisses, never knew a cat that did that. He was so affectionate and truly loved so I'm not sad about that, he had a short but happy life.

Sat up worrying myself sick about our wee cat not coming home. He's about 7 hours past due for his dinner, I've walked about 2 miles around calling him but nothing. It's a really mild quiet night and he's been stuck at home because of bad weather all week so he's probably just out having fun, he's done it before. But I can't help worry.

@nprofile…xgcp I've watched a few reviews and my main concerns are that they wouldn't be comfortable on long sessions, I don't do long sessions so that's fine, and they use the same sticks as joycons so might drift, which I can only hope they don't. The famicom styled newest one uses hall effect ones so I'm guessing the next versions will have that upgrade. But maybe I just also want all of them just to touch and call Precious

2024-11-23 01:34:29 UTC

Been thinking I need a new controller, my ratty old xbox one has seen better days. But I also kinda want a retro controller but desk space is at a premium, and I really need a good controller to use my switch since the joycons drift to hell. Then I found this cool wee thing that can do all of those things and is both modern and retro inspired. Reviews well enough, it's little too which I like I don't do long gaming sessions or anything intense. PB Tails Choc 1.0

I have at least 6 projects I was really excited to get into, uh no 7, that have just dried up for one reason or another. My mood has changed or the result wasn't as satisfying as I hoped. Now I have 4 active projects with at least 1 and maybe 2 being things I might drop or shelve for later. It's an exciting world of unfulfilled possibilities

2024-11-15 01:35:21 UTC

I have identified two (more) things I should work on. The first is my bad habit of starting projects and abandoning old ones, I should see more to the end. The other is the shame I feel after posting about a project and then deciding I want to abandon it, I forget I'm doing all these for fun and that there's absolutely no-one measuring my final quantity of things created. So if I start a project or I'm working on something I'm going to post stuff, but it might just disappear because I got bored

Slept for 8 hours. I haven't slept more than 4 in about 2 and a half months. After yesterday's almost feeling happy again this all bodes well. I get periodic bouts of real low energy depression but this one has really outstayed it's welcome. I even did a little bit of drawing yesterday.

Can any #trans or #autistic people offer some advice. Not long after coming out as trans nb, just before I got sick, I got a reaction from someone important to me that was very negative. While it came from a place of confusion and they now understand and support me, I'm really struggling to get past it. It knocked all the wind out my sails and I feel so disconnected from myself, I don't feel at all like Callum anymore but I feel ashamed to be Callie. Still feeling weakened isn't helping.

Made some real good progress on the Amazons with all the orange and green base colours and shading. That's all the bulk painting done, I'll be breaking them up into a few smaller sets and working each til they're done. It's maybe a bit boring but I think I'm going with the Forbidden City Furies. Sounds vaguely Amazonian to me

Really struggling with my dexterity with small things like writing, painting minis, and drawing ever since being ill, my hands seem to tremble and I can't quite control where they're going, only by a few mm but that's a lot when you're trying to get an eyeball in. Less than an hour into my Amazons I've just given up for today. Sad face. I might get a grip training thingy

I did a thing to test out something I saw on YouTube. An alternative method of world building for a game that is more visual and so leaves a lot more unsaid, to be worked out as it needs to be. It's a little sloppy and unplanned but it's kinda fun. This is for a skimmer/airship naval game that's set on a desert world with the Sirensea being a desert sea that's like the Aegean (or maybe the whole Mediterranean?).

Good progress today on the amazons. All the skin is based and contrasted, most of the armour has a base colour and a bunch of the orange cloth. Another couple of hours and I'll be back in the fun painting. #bloodbowl

New edition of Kill Team? I wish they'd learn to do something more like a re-release. Just same rules, with all the updates, some new stuff, teams and terrain. I want to get back into it and that would tempt me but a whole new edition doesn't really.

Pushed forward on a couple of Amazons to get a feel for a colour scheme. This plus gold on the armour and blonde hair should look good I think. #bloodbowl
