@Die Linke @Die Linke Berlin Mitte
Moin ausm Wedding.
Was Politiker:innen tun sollten: Konfilkte klever versöhnen.
Danke.

@Herr Irrtum! 🔊 🏳️‍🌈 I thought Stripe was Irish. But it is based in Dublin, Ireland and S.F., USA.
Thanks for making me look at this again.
Stripe investores include names we don't like (Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, among others): https://brandsownedby.com/who-owns-stripe/
Bandcamp announced switching to Stripe already last year or vene the year before. They never actually started using it.

@Herr Irrtum!

Note to Self
Typical production procedure of an improvised session here, recorded just in stereo.
- Musicians meeting, having a chat and a tea, eating sthg.: 1-2 hrs, paid by musicians.
- Setup time: 1 to 2 hrs.
- Pause, more tea: 30 mins.
- Play time: 1 to 2 1/2 hrs.
- First listen to recording, providing a rough master, editing out obviously not needed parts: 4-8hrs.
Problem: In a group of musicians everyone with a volume control tends to turn themselves up way too loud instead of listening to the whole mix as a whole and not exaggerating their own role in it, unless it woudl have a musical function (improvisation is live composition after all)
- Thinking & communicating about edits, splitting consecutive takes, naming them: Unforeseeable, this can go on for ages, especially when there is more than one musician involved. :)
- Final mastering of say 1 hr of material: Initial setup, working for 4 hrs., refining later: 1-3 days, depending on feedback, complexity of material and number of desired output variants.
Note: You CANNOT fix it in mastering.
- Payment, if there is any: Let's not talk about it (often lower than 5€ per hour, to be income taxed).
- Reason to still do it: There's so much great new music.

Why does this happen at all? Our independent tracking-free email music newsletter on kliklak.net, running on Mailman, now gets boycotted by our own shared host (Grrrmph!) after almost 25 years of operation.
The shared host started using spam protection 3rd party providers, that don't allow for more than 100 emails being sent per hour. I don't even mind that limit, it would only mean, that our 1500 subscribers are getting their info in batches of 100.
Instead of sending in batches the provider drops all subscribers above 100 completely though, and even started mass-unsubscribing them. Any talks to the shared host support were unsuccesful. #encrappification going on.

Edit: Ist erfolgreich abgesandt. Lief über ein Microsoft 365 Formular. Ergonomisch unfassbar schlecht.
Naja, mal schauen, was da rauskommt.

@mirlo.space I've some questions, if i may?
Is there a way I could see the total number of releases per artist, or for the whole of a label as well?In label mode, is there a way to give catalogue discounts as % instead of absolute values? That makes it much easier, because I can't see the sum of all release prices nowhere otherwise. Is it possible to switch the overview in a releases tab to a chronological text list, and/or sortable by artist?Alternatively, can I manually change the grid on the releases page to display more than 3 album covers per row, for large monitors?
Thank you for all you do! I'd be happy to make those requests in your code repository, if needed. I just don't know, where it is. Thank you again!

End of rant ;)

@Herr Irrtum!

@Joshua A.C. Newman I watched it. It's quiet terrible, a word like "elevator movie making" comes to mind.

@Joshua A.C. Newman I get your point, yet I haven't seen it in such a broad way admittedly. Rather i was trying to relate to comparing sthg like "democracy" versus one-person-at-the-top/king/emperor in the back of my mind.
And it seems, that an empireal behaviour isn't related to one person at the top at all. I guess, that's what it boils down to.

@Joshua A.C. Newman i find "empire" the wrong word, that suggests an "emperor", which Trump in the most near sense actually behaves like, while the superpower role, that the US played before doesn't originate from such single-person-focus circumstances. I think. Are your Berlin plans still up?

Why play guitar, if you can pick with both hands on a Ukranian Bandura?

I'd love one of those, then of course stick the usual elements between the strings (like flat Korean steel chopsticks, plexiglass bars, rubber pads, felt etc :) - and then go Post Punk with a decent amp, distortion and slapback echo.

@Herr Irrtum!
