Dices "persona con diversidad funcional” porque ves la discapacidad como un “plus”, pero no ves que estamos excluidos de la sociedad. Estamos excluidos, el mundo es inaccesible. Somos discapacitados. No somos especiales. Estamos oprimidos.

Can’t Think, Can’t Remember: More Americans Say They’re in a Cognitive Fog
https://archivoenfermo.substack.com/p/cant-think-cant-remember-more-americans
Cognitive impairment is a “hallmark of long Covid,” said Dr. Ziyad Al-Aly, chief of research and development at the V.A. St. Louis Health Care System and a clinical epidemiologist at Washington University in St. Louis.
Studies estimate some 20 percent to 30 percent of people who get Covid have some cognitive impairment several months later, including people with symptoms ranging from mild to debilitating. Research has also shown clear biological changes from the virus related to cognition, including, in some long Covid patients, lower levels of serotonin.
“It’s not just fog, it’s a brain injury, basically,” said Dr. Monica Verduzco-Gutierrez, chair of rehabilitation medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. “There are neurovascular changes. There’s inflammation. There are changes on M.R.I.s.”

In memory of Tinu, two proposals:
• campaign for masks for the global majority and people of color around the world
• campaign for mandatory masks in hospitals
Tinu contracted COVID in a hospital, and this is a very common occurrence. Disabled people who barely leave their homes go to the hospital and are infected with a vascular virus that ultimately kills them. That's why campaigning for more masks than are already mandatory in hospitals is not only a necessity but a direct way to positively impact our most oppressed colleagues.
Tinu was a Black disabled woman activist. Imperialism and sexism operate in such a way that the most oppressed people in society are the most affected by eugenics. Because of imperialism and racism, racialized people in the Global North and the Global South have difficult access to quality masks. Let's organize to fight this.
How can we coordinate this?
I can coordinate sending masks to both the Global North and South.
I have a mandatory mask campaign proposal from other US comrades that can be adapted to each country.
To translate accessible COVID information into other languages, I can help provide short, straightforward materials and design the print layout.

“Why does it seem like everyone has an autoimmune disease now?”.
Covid-19 linked to increased risk of developing autoimmune inflammatory diseases
https://www.forbes.com/sites/anuradhavaranasi/2024/03/29/covid-19-linked-to-higher-risk-of-developing-autoimmune-inflammatory-rheumatic-diseases/
The ongoing COVID reinfections are crushing us.
The cumulative risk and cost of sequelae increases in people who have had one, two, three or more SARS-CoV-2 infections, compared to people who have not had the infection (control group). The chances of your body being destroyed increase after each infection:
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-022-02051-3
Viral traces have been found in cardiovascular tissue samples even 12 months after a COVID diagnosis. Viral persistence is being considered as a possible mechanism of action of COVID.
COVID deregulates the immune system, even in patients who have recovered from the infection . Outbreaks of RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus), monkeypox, polio, tuberculosis , and other viruses have been observed , likely due to large-scale immune problems.
COVID is not just a respiratory disease. It can damage blood vessels and damage virtually any organ anywhere in your body . Even mild infections can cause a reduction in brain volume, equivalent to 1 to 10 years of brain aging .
Each infection has an estimated 1 in 10 chance of causing new symptoms that last over time, known as long COVID. This is true for children and adults alike.
Businesses have a vested interest in you not worrying about COVID, and governments want to take credit for solving the problem by pretending it doesn’t exist. They want you working, shopping, traveling, and attending events at the same rate as in 2019, without asking for paid sick leave or an upgrade to your workplace infrastructure for cleaner air, etc.

SARS CoV-2 detected in neonatal stool remote from maternal COVID-19 during pregnancy
Babies were born with reservoirs of SARS-CoV-2 in their intestines months after the mother's infection. The presence of SARS-CoV-2 in a baby's gut may significantly impact the development of the immune system both before and after birth, with the potential for babies to suffer from higher susceptibility to disease and other dangerous outcomes.

Neurodevelopmental Outcomes at 1 Year in Infants of Mothers Who Tested Positive for SARS-CoV-2 During Pregnancy
“In this cohort study of 7772 infants delivered during the COVID-19 pandemic, those born to the 222 mothers with a positive SARS-CoV-2 polymerase chain reaction test during pregnancy were more likely to receive a neurodevelopmental diagnosis in the first 12 months after delivery, even after accounting for preterm delivery. These preliminary findings suggest that COVID-19 exposure may be associated with neurodevelopmental changes and highlight the need for prospective investigation of outcomes in children exposed to COVID-19 in utero.”

THE PLACENTAL PATHOLOGY IN COVID19 INFECTED MOTHERS AND ITS IMPACT ON PREGNANCY OUTCOME
In a study of 170 women who delivered after a confirmed Covid infection, 50% had placental abnormalities. These were found to be associated with poor pregnancy outcomes, including a significantly higher number of stillbirths (17% vs. 4%) that could not be explained by other risk factors. Babies who survived had lower Apgar scores (a basic measure of the baby's health at birth).

Do you know something that's truly harmful to pregnant people, babies, and all living beings? COVID.
Tylenol is safe, COVID isn't.
P.S. Leave autistic people alone.
https://www.affirmingdoula.com/covid-and-pregnancy
Our understanding of SARS-COV-2 and its effects on the body have expanded considerably over the past few years. We now know that Covid is airborne, spreading and lingering in the air similar to smoke, making masking and HEPA filtration in indoor spaces essential for safety.
We know that even a “mild” or asymptomatic infection (at least half covid infections are asymptomatic) can result in serious long-term health effects and those effects are cumulative over multiple infections, making prevention of infection incredibly important.
Our vaccines protect us from most of the worst immediate outcomes, greatly reducing your chance of hospitalization or death, but they don’t do a great job at preventing infection completely, or preventing forward transmission. Infection does not provide lasting immunity, so it’s possible to catch Covid multiple times per year.
Wearing a well fitting, high quality respirator (N95 or better mask), is the best and easiest way to protect ourselves and those around us from infection, something even more important for pregnant people, infants too young to be vaccinated, and children whose bodies are still developing.
Covid-19 Infection During Pregnancy Can Damage The Placenta And The Fetus
From Forbes: “A new study published in The Lancet Europe has found that SARS-CoV-2 infections during pregnancy are associated with placental lesions from vascular malperfusion, which can result in increased rates of fetal growth restriction, pre-labor membrane rupture, and miscarriage. Vascular damage was also observed in the organs of the fetuses via fetal MRIs.”

If you against medical aid cuts: you need to mask up and show your solidarity to the oppressed
https://camaradademian.substack.com/p/if-you-against-medical-aid-cuts-you
This is a compassionate calling for solidarity to continue fighting against eugenics. Many people don't know this, but the COVID pandemic isn't over. You probably already know that in 2023 the WHO ended the state of emergency, but the pandemic isn't over. Many people don't know that:
At least 50% of infections are asymptomatic.
At least 10% of infections end in long COVID. A post-viral syndrome that most doctors downplay.
Reinfections destroy us. There is no way to “train” the immune system because it is not a muscle. There is a common misconception that exposure to harmful germs strengthens the immune system. Viral diseases like COVID, flu, measles weaken the immune system, leaving the possibility of lasting damage. The reality is that you don’t build your immunity with repeated infections, vaccines strengthen the immune system by teaching it to recognize pathogens without all the risks. Focusing on infection prevention is key.
A rapid antigen test only successfully detects about 60% of early symptomatic infections and about 22% of asymptomatic infections. PCR and molecular tests are the most accurate tests.
COVID spreads and moves like cigarette smoke. Think of the people around you and yourself as people who smoke all day long. It becomes more visual to understand how COVID moves.
Ending the state of emergency has left us more vulnerable than before.
In 2023, governments systematically declared the end of the public health emergency. But the pandemic continues.
The return to "normal" is about profits, not people—it means that governments no longer have to fund public health measures that have been proven to keep us safe. It means that millions of people live with Long COVID, disappearing from public spaces while research is delayed, empathy decreases, and protective measures are abandoned.

Despite profit-based claims otherwise, we are still in a global COVID pandemic. Covid vaccinations may help prevent some severe outcomes and death, but they do not prevent illness, transmission, or Long Covid. Mask up to protect yourself and others from illness, disability (Long Covid), and death.
The following groups are disproportionately affected by Long COVID and/or at greater risk of COVID infection, largely due to existing structures of oppression: disabled people, women, bisexual and trans people, Black people, Indigenous people, children, incarcerated people, people who are unhoused or living in poverty, elderly people, working class people, and immunocompromised people, including people undergoing cancer treatments and people who are HIV-positive.
If you claim to be an ally or accomplice to any marginalized community, you will put the mask back on. We must also demand access to clean, filtered air in schools, public transportation, hospitals, prisons. We must demand free pandemic resources from the government (respirators, rapid & PCR tests, treatments like Paxlovid and other antivirals).
For increased personal protection against COVID, take a layered approach: be diligent about wearing a respirator in all public places; avoid crowded places like restaurants, bars, and concerts; purchase or build a DIY air purifier for your home and advocate for clean air measures in shared spaces like offices or schools; take rapid antigen or PCR tests before gathering with friends or family.
Ultimately, the system has failed us. However, we can still practice community care and solidarity by wearing a mask in public at all times. For more information about (Long) COVID, masks/respirators, clean air, disability justice, and more, visit resistcovideugenics.carrd.co, linktr.ee/act_up_mask_up, covidtoolbox.com, covid.tips, and/or find a local mask bloc near you (maskbloc.org). #CovidIs Airborne #WearARespirator

Every time society makes me feel I “exaggerate” by masking 😷, I read about Long COVID and remember that 10 percent of all infections end in that.

"Just because I wear a mask doesn't mean I'm locked in my house" is an ableist argument
let's not fall into ableism
https://camaradademian.substack.com/p/just-because-i-wear-a-mask-doesnt
From time to time, there are trends on social media from people who call themselves COVID-conscious. A few months ago, one of the trends was showing everything you could do while wearing a mask. This, in principle, isn't a bad thing, but the problem is that the narrative and the phrases being used were that y"ou don't live in a cave when you wear a mask".
These kinds of phrases and trends erase those of us disabled who are forced to stay home, either because we are too disabled to go out, because we know we can't afford infections, or in general because of the inaccessibility of not wearing masks in public spaces.
In all communities and all movements, there are revolutionary and reactionary lines. There are people who call themselves COVID-conscious but have lack an anti-capitalist analysis of eugenics. And coincidentally, they are often the same people who don't focus on disability justice (they often simply name it but don't practice it). It could also be that a person simply made a mistake and fell into liberalism. Just as we know we're not immune to COVID, we're not immune to propaganda in general.
I have Crohn's disease, and since the beginning of the pandemic, I could do many things in my life. In 2023, I started to consider setting limits because I was seeing that so many people were not wearing masks anymore and I was trying to find the words to really figure out what I wanted to do. In May 2024, I had a symptomatic COVID infection that caused me to develop dysautonomia and that really disables me (even more).

Don't talk to me about queer pride if you don't talk about COVID
how can we celebrate queer liberation while chronically ill and immunocompromised people continue to be excluded during the ongoing pandemic?
how can the queer community really be a community when the most oppressed are left behind because the rest don't care enough to help protect them from a deadly and disabling virus?
queer leftists love to think they would have been activists at the beginning of the AIDS crisis, but they are literally leaving the lives of vulnerable queer people behind right now by refusing to practice pandemic safety as community care.
it's not just clearly capitalist people who are leaving us behind, we've been seeing queers turning their backs on those people most marginalized by the system. talking about “liberation” while they don't even have the decency to wear respirators.
let's fight eugenics. we need real change.
there is no pride in having ableism and helping the spread of an ongoing pandemic.
WEAR RESPIRATORS! MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCE! GET TESTED! PROTECT YOUR COMMUNITY!

In a 2020 study, it was found that people who wore masks spent 25% less time shopping. In 2021, health ministries reduced isolation time in their recommendations for people with COVID at the request of Delta Airlines' CEO.
“Only high-risk people are affected by COVID.”
Disabled people are not disposable. Governments have ignored the serious health consequences of COVID by telling us that only "high-risk" individuals need to take precautions.
(And if you’ve been infected before, you are now part of this category.)
1 in 5 cases will develop into Long COVID. Everyone should be able to safely participate in public life. Mitigating COVID is our collective responsibility.
1) Even if this were true, our elderly, high-risk, and disabled community members are not disposable. Their lives are worth protecting. To suggest otherwise is a eugenicist stance. Capitalism perpetuates the myth that a person's worth (and their "disposability") is based on their ability to work.
2) Anyone who has had COVID should consider themselves immunocompromised. Fighting COVID does not "strengthen" our immune response—COVID attacks the immune system and weakens its ability to fight future infections. Each infection makes us more vulnerable.
"We’ve reached herd immunity."
The reason we have so many variants is because we have allowed the virus to spread unchecked. Governments lifted mask mandates, dismantled testing infrastructure, and removed other protective measures from the start.
We do not have to accept the defeatist stance that everyone on the planet will eventually be infected. We can keep our communities safe by continuing COVID precautions: wearing masks, testing regularly, and staying informed can save lives.

None of this exists in isolation from the oppressive world we live in—in fact, this is where it originates. Fighting COVID is community care, a working-class struggle, a disability rights struggle, a queer struggle, an anti-colonial struggle, and a fight against all forms of oppression.
- We have the tools to fight against eugenics—let’s organize!
What can you do?
- Wear masks (check out maskbloc.org)
- Organize mask blocs / distribute masks (reach out to me help you!)
- Talk about eugenics wherever you go—on social media and in activist spaces.
- Vaccines, clean air, COVID testing.
- Amplify the voices of Long COVID experts, such as @haziethompson or @vozdelpacientecovidpersistente.
- If you have any questions or want training, contact: mvione@proton.me.
- You can choose to stop abandoning the communities most affected by this eugenicist system.
Businesses have a clear interest in keeping you from worrying about COVID, and governments want to take credit for "solving the problem" by pretending it doesn’t exist. They want you working, shopping, traveling, and attending events at the same pace as in 2019—without demanding paid sick leave or workplace improvements for cleaner air.
Health ministries did not want to publicly admit that COVID is airborne because that could have led to lawsuits demanding workplace safety improvements. Masks are a visible reminder of the ongoing danger.

If you're an activist, you should mask up
I’d like you to think about the reasons you wore a mask over the past few years and what made you stop wearing it.
You probably never actually stopped to ask yourself whether it was completely safe to stop wearing one—you simply followed the "normal" imposed by the state.
Maybe at some point, you had questions, but you were unable to access truly reliable information about the harm caused by normalizing and trivializing infections.
- 50% of infections are asymptomatic.
- At least 10% of infections end in long COVID.
- Reinfections destroy us.
- COVID spreads and moves like cigarette smoke. Think of the people around you and yourself as people who smoke all day long. It becomes more visual to understand how COVID moves.
- Symptomatic infections take a couple of days to show symptoms, meaning that for at least two days, you’re infecting others without knowing it.
- Vaccines are not enough, and they are not being updated to match new variants. Antibody levels drop significantly in the months following vaccination. Vaccines are not preventing reinfections, transmission, or Long COVID.
- You are infectious with COVID for at least 10 days.
- Since the beginning of the pandemic, there has been a huge push to normalize the disease, promoting a meritocratic view of immunity (where "the strongest will survive" and "the weak must die for prosperity").
- New variants are complex due to:
1) Continuous human-to-human and animal-to-human transmission, leading to more complex mutations.
2) Lack of research, lack of public awareness about protective measures, lack of antiviral treatments, and lack of accessible PCR or molecular COVID tests.
