Not a fan of fungus gnats. They will be in for a surprise soon. Hitting them up with a soil treatment, some insecticidal soap spray and then yellow sticky traps. They are more of a nuisance than anything. Much like fruit flies. They love to buzz my computer monitor at night.
The plants are doing quite well actually. A giant habañero on one of them. Even the tomato plant is still producing. Used some of the fresh basil on pizza a couple of days ago.

Going through my phone contacts and as I go through the C's I see the number of a friend of mine. Only this friend is no longer here because he committed suicide. It's still a painful thing but I will leave that number in my phone. I just can't call it anymore. But it will remind me of this awesome person that I knew and his name was Chris. Chris, I will never forget you. You touched my life in such a magical and wonderful way. Your bipolar got you in the ends. You will always be missed...

Videos like this help me to connect the dots, as it were. Suddenly the music is sort of just jumping at me because the tab flows with the music.
Funny how Clapton looks a lot like BB King... Or maybe Hendrix. I guess it's all about the style in the end. BB had a certain simplicity to his playing. Not super flashy but still very expressive.

I think my head might explode watching this. Funny thing is I was strolling through the videos and stumbled on this, thinking it sounded familiar before I saw the title. Now I am going through trying to figure out which one was the one that was used. I thought I had it and then I seem to have gotten lost and confused. Back at it again...

Garage door openers are fun. Mine is a Raynor R170, which was manufactured in 1995. No parts available for it. It has been acting up and sometimes just loses power while going up or down. I already had the logic board out once and reflowed some solder but that did not fix the problem. Now if I push on the connector to the board where 8 wires attach and hold it down the door will usually go completely up or down. Not sure if the issues is the connector or the board.

Garage door openers are fun. Especially when they are 30 years old and don't always work correctly. It's better on cooler days. So I have narrowed it down to most likely a bad solder joint on the logic board. Need to rip it open soon and take a look. Seems like I do a lot of that...
Oh well...
I have a solder iron and can make some basic repairs...

I feel like I am at the point of completely getting away from that forum. It has been good to me in the past but now this looking the other way while AI gets constantly mentioned is too much for me. And I don't feel that they have a policy in place for how to deal with these AI posts either. If they just want to continually shut me up then what is the point of participating there? My suggestion would be that they make a special sub forum for all crap AI. And then stop censoring people...

Today there was a thread from a guy who asked AI how to fix a certain piece of equipment. Why anyone would use crappy AI to do electronics troubleshooting is beyond me. Anyway, the issue that I am having with that forum is that they will delete your posts if you question the wisdom of AI and I don't think that is right. AI is not foolproof and I don't believe that it can take the place of human thought. So I posted something and the moderators deleted it, saying I was "thread crapping"...

I am on an audio forum called AudioKarma. It's not a bad place. Over the years I have posted up and also received information related to my audio journey. Most recently I got advice from a guy in Australia on how to fix an integrated amplifier with a blown thermal fuse in the transformer. It was quite easy. Then I posted up about getting a Technics SU-V707 and changing it to US voltage. Also not hard...
But recently threads have been popping up about using AI.... I don't like that.

The more I do the research on how an when to apply 2-4-D to lawns, the more I realize that whoever applied it at our condo complex completely fucked up. When the temperature gets over about 85 degrees it is not a good idea to put it down. Because it volatilizes easily and then you have a vapor cloud that spreads. This is what seems to have happened. I knew that after the fact there really wasn't a lot I could do. I was just hoping that it would not affect my plants. And then one day I saw what I thought was some wilting on the tomato plant. It wasn't. It was damage from the 2-4-D. So I just kept on tending to the plant until one night it rained quite a bit.
Next morning I went outside to find the stems and branches of the plant all twisted like a corkscrew. I knew something was wrong. Took me a bit of time and research to know what it was

2026-08-08 14:14:57 UTC

This year I finally st arted doing some gardening again. I am doing container gardening and right now I have 5 plants.
Unfortunately a little over a week ago the landscape company that takes care of the property decided to come out and put down 2-4-D. I don't know if it was sprayed on or put down as a Weed N' Feed in granular form. But it tool out an heirloom tomato plant. And we had no notice that they were going to put that crap down. I only found out when I smelled it in the air.

Squirrels will naturally do this to make nests. But I have never seen this level of destruction in one area. And those trees are now going to die. Sad becuase we have a basket there and those trees are obstacles to the sport.

When humans mess with nature we inevitably mess it up...
I run a league at a local disc golf course. I also do a lot of work there maintaining the place. But we have to be careful to maintain a balance between what we are doing and nature. There is a lot of wildlife there, including hawks, a bobcat, squirrels, rabbits. mice, snakes, etc...
Well this last year a lady has decided to start feeding the squirrels. Why I have no idea. So the squirrels did this to a bunch of trees in that area...

Maybe I could have prevented that initial heat stress by bringing the plant indoors during the hottest part of the day. But I just had no idea. They sell you the plant in an area where it can not do well. Welcome to climate change and extreme heat!

2026-08-01 15:02:02 UTC

The plant is clearly in severe stress now and I don't think it can recover. Especially since things look to be getting worse and not better. I can maybe bring the plant inside when it gets really hot but that isn't going to get it to spur new growth. And if this lasts for another couple weeks I think the clock is ticking on the end of the growing season and there may just not be enough time to get any actual tomatoes. I haven't quite given up yet but it does not look good...

At first I was worried when I saw that the leaves had curled. So I had to look that up and it said that was normal for a tomato plant that got heat stressed. So I thought I would just let it go. But then it got worse when the branches started to curl up in a spiral. Online I could find no information about that. But yesterday I Googled whether heirloom tomatoes can take high temperatures and it said that they would go into "severe stress" when temperatures get above 90 degrees...

2026-08-01 14:56:35 UTC

Looks like we are not going to get any respite from the heat. In fact it looks like it might actually get worse before it gets better. The next two weeks are going to be hot and it will not cool down much at night either. I have a tomato plant that is an heirloom variety with yellow tomatoes. I got it cheap and figured I would see what happened. It was doing great up until we has a 99 degree day. Then it just went into a state of "severe stress" and is not recovering.

Laying awake on my bedroom right now. The air purifier says it is 86 degrees inside the room right now. Outside it is still 79 degrees. We use fans at night to try to push the hot air out and pump the cooler air in. But it takes a while and it doesn't cool down very fast until that temperature difference between inside and outside reaches 10 degrees. We are at only 7 degrees right now. Overnight the "low" may only be 73 degrees. This is just unpleasant to say the least.

This is not normal at all. Neither are all the wildfires burning all over, including in Europe. When I first moved to Colorado I stayed with a friend who told me that there was really no need for air conditioning in Colorado. Well that was 30 years ago and now everyone uses it. We only have a single portable unit that helps a bit but can only keep things below the mid 80s inside. I can't wait for the cooler temperatures of fall.
Climate change is no hoax...

It is so fucking hot right now. The lowest overnight temperature we are going to see is 63 degrees F. So it never really cools off that much before going right up again the next day. It says that the "low" tonight is going to be 70 degrees, right before it goes up to a high of 97 degrees tomorrow. I usually water the pepper plant and the tomato plant once every two days. But today the tomato plant was looking a bit wilted so I had to dump some water on it. Will water again in the morning.

Frank was a genius and mainly a composer. If you have ever watched any of his live shows you can see just how he commanded the entire show. He had so many instruments and musicians doing their thing all together. Amazing really. And not really "rock" either. A lot of time it was jazz.
Not to mention the humor and satire of it all. I now realize just what an intense and talented musician he was. No need to put a label on his music at all.

Because in Merika we don't want our poor bosses to not be able to afford the big house or the yacht. That would such a shame if that happened. So instead we must all work ourselves sick.

I really don't understand how anyone in that state can support Collins. She is a sleazebag politician who bows down to Dumpty.

There is nothing that the 34 time convicted felon will not do in order to try and keep power. He is the worst of the worst. But we will fight back.

I think that the right wingers are getting desperate before the midterms. Dumpty is a total failure and is making life miserable for Americans. So the right wingers have resorted to trolling like mad on politicians' pages on Fakebook. Especially here in Colorado because we did not vote for that POS Dump. A real sign of desperation.
But Fakebook is not reality at all. And calling someone who opposes Dumpty "stupid" or a "commie" will not work. We have already seen the MAGA playbook and it stinks
