I rarely quote Cantrill, but he's absolutely right here about one of the emergent problems of code generation:
"The problem is that LLMs inherently lack the virtue of laziness. Work costs nothing to an LLM. LLMs do not feel a need to optimize for their own (or anyone’s) future time, and will happily dump more and more onto a layercake of garbage."

@nprofile…e4ry What class is the essay in?
If it's in English, Composition, Persuasive Writing etc. it's a problem. If the essay is in some other topic, who cares?
Also, what did the prof say about using LLMs at the start of class?

Hey fellow #Portlanders! We are looking for additional venues for the #Kubernetes meetup. Here's some criteria:
- Downtown, SW, or inner Eastside
- Free or cheap (<$200, or just a low F&B requirement)
- Private/semi-private space where we can do a slide preso/demo
- Able to have food (food sponsor separate)
Kubernetes-supporting company offices would be ideal.
Lemme know! #PDX #Meetup

Our lease is up in March, and the land we're on changes hands June 1st, so we have a hard deadline of when we need to be out. We're looking for spaces that are:
- At least 1/2 an acre (minimum needed to house the goats and their shelters)
- In the Portland Metro Area
- Grassy, living land with trees and shade (No parking lots)

The goats are looking for a new space as of this spring! Fear not - We've been expecting this, and agreed to it with the Portland Housing Bureau when we came to North Portland. Our stay in this spot has come to its natural, intended end, and we're looking for the next space we'll stay until further notice. (1/4)

Spite-based development is a much larger thing in #FOSS than I think people credit.
"I hate this program, I'm gonna write something to replace it."
and
"Oh yeah? I'm going to write some FOSS to prove I'm right."
have both given rise to a fair amount of FOSS.

@nprofile…xcsy If you want a bigger picture on this: The Chubb Group bought up all of the highly-rated pet insurance companies, and are taking advantage of the fact that pet insurance is almost entirely unregulated.
We had to cancel ours. They increased the price by 150% (with zero claims), both over our old premium and above the price they advertise.

Hey, #Portland folx, looks like we have some criminals setting ballot drop boxes on fire. Things to do:
1) If possible, drop your ballot at an indoor box in a library. These are supervised by the librarians at all times and nobody is going to set them on fire.
2) If you know anyone who might have used either of the two ballot boxes, please alert them that they might need to get an emergency replacement ballot:
- PDX: Southeast Morrison & 10th ave.
- WA: Vancouver Fisher's Landing

So, read up on the #Firefox "better ad tracking" (#PPA) feature.
I'm ... not outraged? I'm a little annoyed by having it turned on by default, but I can see what Mozilla is doing here, and it's not a bad thing. If we can give advertisers what they want without losing privacy, win.
I just think that Mozilla could have sold this to the users a lot better, but that's nothing new.
