'Today' means one Mullvad founder is major sponsor of a fascist party, right?
And 'Many people are unable to tolerate even a minor disagreement on semantics without being absolutely enraged about it.' reads like people who are upset about that are loosers because sponsoring a fascist party is not a big deal. Or how should that be read?

2026-06-29 18:20:34 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…8d0p please explain _in detail_ what you exactly mean with:
'We don't usually allow much political discussion in our community unless it's directly related to GrapheneOS. Today has been a very good demonstration of why that's the case. Many people are unable to tolerate even a minor disagreement on semantics without being absolutely enraged about it.'

2026-06-29 18:01:33 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…8d0p Fascism is not about politics. It's about denying fundamental human rights. Your statement is just a very good demonstration that being "unpolitical" actually means tolerating hate and prosecution of minorities which makes you part of the rise of authoritarianism.

Cal.com is closing it's source due to the threat coming with AI coding:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYEPLpgCRck
I don't know how I feel about that. It was always my favourite go-to alternative to Calendly.
What I also don't get is that they are releasing a Cal.diy source code side by side with less business features. Is that not threatened by AI?
Or is it just a business move to earn more money in the end?

The new German #socialmedia platform wedium started it's beta access this week. It sees itself as an European alternative to the big tech social media platforms, specifically since the Trump administration took over last year, and stands against hate speech.
To secure that, you have to identify with your passport.
Ah, and they are closed source.
Why not federate? Because Trump used Mastodon's code for Truth Social.
So it's a walled-garden with ID check.
What a joke.

So, I started to volunteer in our local community centre to help (mostly) elder people with their computer and smartphone problems.
It's fascinating. We have people there up to their 90s and they are all every open for change.
We remove ad ID's from phones, change default browsers, switch from MS Office to #Libreoffice.
And for next time I already have a date with an elder lady to switch her old Windows 10 laptop to Linux Mint.
And she is not the only one!
What a time to be alive.

If you, for some reason, have a subscription for some #LLM like #chatGPT from #openAI or #claude from #Anthropic, consider switching to @nprofile…4fxs ultimate plan. You can still use your favourite LLM, but with better privacy, around the same amount money spend AND you support a great privacy focused search engine project.

UPDATE: @npub1756…7tyy also lists good alternatives for common services.
