not all tasks require the same level of skill or time. A copy-paste with minimal edits doesn't demand high artistry or effort, so pricing it on par with fully original work doesn't make sense.
"At the very least you'd be looking at $30"- This is an arbitrary number. Pricing depends on market norms and the complexity of the work. Suggesting $30 as a baseline for what amounts to a meme edit is absurdly inflated.
"No self-respecting artist is going to intentionally make something shit quality"- Wrong at every objective level. You clearly don't understand the nature of commissions. Artists are supposed deliver exactly what the client requests, even if the style or purpose is intentionally low-effort. Memes are a common example of this—"low quality" is often the intentional aesthetic.
"No self-respecting artist-" You don't get to decide that. There's no part of that statement that doesn't show a fundamental lack of respect and consideration for artists just as lacking as someone who thinks AI will replace them entirely. You are either being a cheeky little contrarian bastard or you're so far up your own ass that you can't smell your own delusions. If anything, you're the one showing a lack of respect for artists as professionals.

Yeah yeah yeah, that's a statement littered with fallacies. The going rate of things like that are almost always usually $15 maximum, retard.

2025-01-28 02:01:55 UTC

- reply

Yeah, $15 was too generous. It's a nearly all black and white line drawing that's effectively a trace of another image. Maybe $3. Maybe.

Well, actually, now that's somewhat changed. I got my hands on a drawing tablet for stupid cheap and I use it as a monitor for my NAS server, but I could easily pull that bitch in here and do something with it now, I've even fucked with it and found out I'm naturally really good at drawing hands and toes, but that's about as far as it went.

I'm not good at art, if I could have done that I would have but I can't draw with a mouse.

I needed something very specific. What is so missing or broken in your logic that you still can't understand that if that was the case it's exactly what I would have done? AI isn't good for hyper specific context sensitive shitposts like dan clancy being characterized as a very specific coomerjak that existed nichely in the collective consciousness of the internet for about five hours.

2025-01-28 01:48:21 UTC

Not really by any objective metric. You can say that you, personally, value 100% hand drawn merit more and you're right, the customer is always right about their own tastes. I think you struggle to actually address or think about this issue as critically as you ought to be however, seeing as this isn't much different than creating a digital pen that gets rid of a lot of tedious work for you. I've, in fact, seen artist download pens made specifically to help them draw lines perfectly. Is that really much different? What about auto-shading tools that you wouldn't believe are so common? AI, ultimately, is a put together of all of these tools and is automated. I could agree with you, in the right context, that 100% hand drawn art is impressive and high value, but ONLY within the correct context. If anything I'm being far too generous by even supposing that a quick 15~ minute tops shitpost is even worth $5 to be honest.

2025-01-28 01:32:21 UTC

- reply

Niggertyu got pissy at me for being right that it shouldn't be so damn hard to make a soyjak. Dude thinks his time is worth more than ~5-15$ for a quick and low effort shitpost. The idea that labor to art is sacred is laughable, and there is no future for retards who can't understand that their labor value is waning.

I got catfished by some fucking rapemeat called Natalynn on vrchat over a year ago and got perma banned for entirely self inflicted reasons, considering that they crossed several lines including but not limited to texting my father death threats.
Regardless of my intentions and the fact that I said "but the fact I haven't is proof I'm not bullshitting that I just want us to leave each other alone", the "actionable threat" part of that statement (I could have done the same shit to you by now if I really wanted this fight) was clipped out of context and used to get me perma'd off of vrchat which took 7 years of memories and friends, avatars, groups, and the reason I spent so much money on VR equipment with it.
It did a lot of psychological damage. Point and laugh, sure, but I'm over it now. During the time I was still coming to grips with my mental state I had a couple sperg outs across the internet, here included.
If I can get the fuck over it, they can do the same.

C'mon, assume the position. We both know you're a bottom.
Jokes aside, seriously, I doubt a single one of you guys in the same position would have handled it much better considering the actual scale of manipulation involved. Yes, fuck me for being a victim I guess sure I should've known better but there were too many ongoing factors and I was one of *thousands* that were tricked, I just so happened to be the one that stood up and got gunned down first.
I was a fool, yeah, one hundred percent, but at the very least I effectively destroyed them in the process of the whole thing. They certainly aren't impersonating Gura anymore.
As for the AI thing I'm never wrong come back in 10 years when I'm vindicated.

You need some self awareness. Sadly, AI can't make that for you. I'll tell you this, I never once said AI art is better than artists. I recall the time where I generated shit to fuck with someone who was a piece of shit to make a point against them that I'll make to you right now, with the little respect for you that I still hold;
I am not "pro artist". I'm also not so "pro ai" that I want human art to completely vanish, you fucking moron. You're right, I don't care about "artists" as a group. When in a transaction with them, we are not friends.
Assume a situation where I commission you. You are not my friend, I don't give a FUCK about what you're going through because I hired you to get a JOB done. A JOB that I will not hesitate to remind you that you are not CRITICAL for and ARE replaceable.
Do you know the real problem with that, though? Do you at all? It's that human art has social value, and there's benefit in human interactions. There's merit in human art that gives it more value than the pennies it takes to generate art with an AI, and to automate that when unnecessary would obliterate that value to atoms.
I don't care about the "AI slop" flooding the market. I don't care that AI makes art easier to come by where artists are unwilling. That's not the point because in those instances, it's warranted. You apparently agree with that. I don't even care that art is in the value of the beholder, which makes arguments of AI art being worthless just as worthless.
What I care about is that there are elements where, despite my situation, I still don't want to hasten or accelerate the erosion of the market floor that people like you, who I STILL respect to some degree depend on for their own stability.
In a transactional exchange where you are replaceable, you're an insolant fool for suggesting it be done when what makes me care isn't "muh artists", because you're right that I don't care about that. It's that I have empathy enough to know that when I don't have to degrade the human element out of a market, I often choose not to.
I return my shopping carts, I help the pallet jockies at the store unload their carts if they are having trouble stocking heavy items. I face products other people put back wrong to help the employees responsible look better. I use the normal checkouts even though self checkout is faster, because I like to smalltalk and be kind to the clerks for the service they provide.
This is clearly something you missed the point of long ago- I did not spew AI around the way I did to simply disservice the shit you do at large. I spewed AI jargon because while it was still fresh, getting the point that social artists with a fat fucking mouth are expendable if art is the only thing they have for clout was necessary*.
I spoke earlier that the artists who kept being cunts to me over a simple, cheap meme edit were just shooting themselves in the foot and hastening the erosion of their own market by making one of the few niches that are difficult for AI to fill have HIGHER demand for AI to be able to fill it due to their own bad attitudes. This, if you can't tell, isn't something I actively want or I wouldn't have been so pissed about it.
What I was saying was that it blows my fucking mind that there are people out there who will cut off their foot to spite the panther chasing them. You missed what I was saying entirely, you misinterpreted what I was saying ENTIRELY. And now you're just doubling down, tripling down, and I wouldn't be surprised yet I would be saddened were you to take the last bit of respect I have for you in pontificating all of this for you for granted.
Artists will see a stable, difficult to erode market in shitposts and niche, unique ideas that AI cannot easily put out due to it only being able to create derivatives based on idea derivations. It cannot directly put ideas onto paper, that's what human interpretation is for. And that's what it will remain for- AI interprets second hand, but it cannot interpret first hand as a human can.
Give me a fucking break, god fucking damnit.

all I'm hearing is copium right now. That and a lot of assumptions. The fact that you don't seem to understand that the $10 offer was mostly done privately one at a time until I got a no from like 10 different artists is enough for me to justify what happened here. Fuck snobs that think $10 for a quick little thing like that is a joke. They deserve to be replaced by AI.

Do you actually want $10 or not, because this level of quality is fine, if you can do this better the $10 goes to you. I literally don't care if it's HD or not. "AI ART IS AWFUL EVIL IT'S BAD"
"Okay, can I commission you to help me with this hyper specific but super quick and simple shitpost with twitch's CEO as a coomer wojak?"
Artists:"Lol no, I'm too good for small jobs."
Artists:"Lol no, I only draw fetish art."
Artists:"Lol no, waste of time."
Artists:"Lol no, blocked."
Artists:"Lol no."
🙃🙃 What business do artists have complaining about AI when even THEY aren't willing to fucking draw for a quick buck?
