not 99% of tourists tho, those from countries that also use signs in line with the Vienna Convention on Road Signs and Signals will understand. Looking at the map on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vienna_Convention_on_Road_Signs_and_Signals I think the problem is mostly tourists from the US and Canada.
(not meant as a well actually, I thought you might find this interesting and apologies if not!)

Another one for “if a song exists there will be an orchestral arrangement of it” but tATu’s All The Things She Said lends itself way better for orchestra than I ever would have expected it to. Bravo! https://youtu.be/xaGNhFtjaHk

i have some sympathy because those platforms actively entrap people by making them addicted to the dopamine hit of algorithmic reach and the perceived position of power that comes with a high follower count. I imagine it can be hard to wean yourself off of that. Especially if you think you’re using that power for Good.
But it’s been long enough now. That excuse can’t work forever.

Hey Mac people, how do I tell if a prompt like this is legit or just some malware looking to get my password so it can get elevated privileges?
Like the way you can tell on iOS by the keyboard. And I think you used to be able to tell on macOS a couple of redesigns ago but I don’t remember how.
(Boosts welcomed!)

yeah my house is surrounded by trees that are higher than my roof on one side and higher buildings on the other. I may need to climb a tree and put up a node in there :P

I have to admit I’m a little disappointed in #Meshtastic. I live in a city with an ample supply of nerds and (according to the map) live nodes but getting a message back to my home node from just a couple of kilometers away just doesn’t work. Even though it should just be 2 or 3 hops based on the map.
I guess it’s not really well-suited for urban environments?

the way a lot of youtubers talk about The Algorithm - what it likes or dislikes, punishes or rewards - is only one or two generations of oral tradition away from being a full-fledged religion

Given it’s international women’s day, I’d like to encourage you all, but especially Dutch men to read these ‘anti-acknowledgments’ in a PhD thesis. This is not from somewhere else, it’s from Delft. And it’s not from the 1950s, but from the present. Unfortunately what academic life and culture in The Netherlands is still like. The author is just one of the few who actually spoke up about it, but there are many stories like it.

The vatican needed a latin word for tweet, because the pope tweets. Or tweeted, I suppose, given the whole dead or dying situation. Anyway, they call them breviloquia (s breviloquium) which is honestly a great word even tho it’s not very brief itself. Given its nature and etymology I think we should be able to use it platform-independently and apply it to toots, skeets and even Truths as well. Anyway thank you for reading this breviloquium.

If you’re trans or part of some other persecuted minority in the US and are in devops/sre, react, php, laravel, nodejs, go, or something related enough, and interested in relocating to Europe, DM me and I’ll see what I can do. My employer has experience with the paperwork involved with hiring US citizens and getting them a residency permit.
