In the Desert by Stephen Crane.
(again, sorry).
```text
In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said, ‘Is it good, friend?’
‘It is bitter — bitter,’ he answered;
‘But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart.’
The leaning tower of ALL MODERN DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE.
"Whatever microsoft is doing" is somewhere in its own unrelated island.
Beneath the towers is AI - a jack crank handle pushing the tower into a larger and larger leaning angle to the left.
AWS and Cloudflare hold the left side immediately under AI while the right side immediately under AI is "Unpaid Open Source Developer".
"DNS" is two thin blocks holding the whole tower a few levels under the previous one.
Linux Foundation holds the penultimate level.
The last level, zooming in, we can see it is an underwater cable being gnawed by a shark.
### Background.
Stephan Malinowski is a musician who wrote a music visualisation program. These visualisations are pretty. They can also visually show musical patterns hidden to untrained idiots like myself.
Visual visualisations visually visualise... blah!
A nice musical bit he visualised is the Frog Round. A "round" is a special kind of music where the same bit of music is played at different pitches, but each pitch is playing a different part of the same music from the other pitches. Don't ask me. Ask the Wikipedia - <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_a_queer_bird>, <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Round_(music)>.
### The lyrics.
Anyway, the Frog Round (What a Queer Bird the Frog Are)'s lyrics:
```text
What a queer bird, the frog are
When he sit he stand (almost)
When he walk he fly (almost)
When he talk he cry (almost)
He ain't got no sense, hardly
He ain't got no tail, neither, hardly
He sit on what he ain't got hardly
```
### The visualisations.
- By Stephan Malinowski AKA Smalin AKA Musanim. He made at least five versions of this particular bit of music. There might be more.
- Anonymous, Frog Round (What a Queer Bird the Frog Are, ver. 1).
Video attached is what `guile -L . examples/point-in-out-areas.scm` shows when one is in the root of the project. If you want to run it you also need to have David Thompson's Chickadee module installed (<https://dthompson.us/projects/chickadee.html>).
