💾 It's a while I haven't posted a new story, and I'm particularly proud of this one. The final twist might be hard to grasp, but I'm sure clever readers will appreciate.

💾 As promised, here is my review/analysis of Murder in the Tool Library.
I tried to articulate as best as I could all the reasons that made my blood boil, and why we should demand better from #Solarpunk #Books.
I tried to reference the text itself as much as possible, but please point out if my interpretations are faulty. I'm open to discussion and my opinion is not final, although very opinionated!

💾 After many months of writing mostly uni essays (sorry for the few updates!), I'm finally back in action, starting #Kanteletar's Section C.
It's the third story (out of five planned) of my #Solarpunk novel which explores the fates of a #Library from the 21st to the 25th Century. I expect to complete a first draft by the end of July.
Stay tuned!

I've heard from a biologist friend who read the book that much of the hard science is handwaved. Haven't read myself (nor do I have microbiology knowledge in the slightest), but there's that

💾 After a couple months of "forced break", I can finally start editing #Kanteletar's Section B!
Some betareaders pointed out there were too many characters and the political conflict was sometimes unclear. Painting a community that navigates complex scenarios with multiple competing factions is quite hard to do on the page, but I'll do my best 😅

As someone who's learning how to teach science, the hardest part is to make kids understand I'm not telling things that are *true* but that we *think that work, most of the times*. It's a huge conceptual leap! 🥵

Sometimes I too worry (on the verge of 32) about "being late" or "acting like I'm still at uni" while all my friends marry or have kids and tell me how old they feel.
But big respect for you, using zoomer lingo like it's water! It might not feel like much, but that inspires me! Age is just a number, we don't need to act old if we're not.

💾 Just in time to take part in #SolarpunkSunday: the page for my #wip, Kanteletar, is live!
https://clockwooork.github.io/kanteletar.html
Follow the story of a library across five centuries of future history, from the depths of the #ClimateCrisis in 22nd Century to Atlas' technoligarchy of the 24th Century; the neverending struggle of humanity in pursuit of cultural independence.
Currently one of five sections is complete; the second is underway!

Thank you! 🤩
It's the story of a library that goes through five centuries (with one "section" each) that goes through the societal/political/technological upheavals of Finland and Europe as a whole.
The first Section A (set in 2067) is already available (although I have to fix a couple details), you can check it out here:

💾 Had to tweak a little bit the structure for #Kanteletar's Section B, in order to feature the conflict between welware and authware more prominently.
Hopefully I'll be able to write it down through November. Can't wait to show you what I'm on.

💾 I've been reading news of "massive #solar progress" in #India and #China and wherever, and I can't help but think that it could've very well happened 20 if not even 30 years ago. We had the technology and the materials.
It's happening now only because China almost singlehandedly started mass-producing panels, with govt funding that the #OilLobbies can't stop like they have in #USA or #Europe.
This energy transition is, in essence, a political move for hegemony.

So we started calling this "The Caramel Timezone", when you live as if your GMT was on the other side of the world 😂

💾 People often think of #Solarpunk in terms of nature and degrowth (which isn't bad!), but data scientists rebuilding a public tool that was dismantled by the authorities? Punk af.
But the inevitable question arises: why is it harder to tell a story about this?

With our collective, we were thinking of an article featuring book reviews (both positive and negative) made by humans and by GPT, to show that not only they are indistinguishable (and thus sites like Goodreads have become garbage dumps), but also that human-made reviews don’t actually say much most of the time.
Would that be a bad article, in your opinion?

As a Finnish learner (I am struggling) I found that I rely a lot on a method called "logical analysis" that we learned in elementary school to understand Italian grammar. This is making it a lot easier to learn Finnish, since most Finnish cases translate 1:1 to Italian "complements" studied with logical analysis!

I will read the article soon, but from experience I can tell you it's not heat on its own (we've had hot summers before) but its effects are magnified by the fact that our cities are barely livable spaces. Just slabs of concrete with no tree or shade or underpasses
