I don't really know but sites like this one and the presentation itself clearly said air. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a74165059/tesla-roadster-thrusters-fan-system-explained/ I don't know.

A problem with drowning in garbage is that you can't see very sharp.

I mean I don't think I've ever seen anyone go through the ice in ice skating at olympics, would be a first!

It is hard to know. Epic games changing how they licensed Unreal Engine changed the market a lot (this affected us at Autodesk too). Had that never happened I could see the original Unity vision working out.

Yeah I remember thinking that Unity, at one point, felt like the underpant gnome meme.
I guess a problem is... what if you have a clear vision but there is not enough money in it, even to sustain a non VC capital company? Markets change.
Do you pretend to keep your old vision while pivoting, or do you make clear that you are abandoning a segment?
I am not saying that this happened to Unity, but without the VC money it might have had to change anyway.

Ah the post I have been waiting for! I'm trying to transfer lessons from this to Blender/Godot. Clear vision is important... and can't be too broad maybe. I remember at some GDC when we [edit: Beast+Turtle from Illuminate Labs] were in the nordic part of the expo floor, next to Unity. 2009 maybe? Just two small companies trying to showcase their products. Then unity exploded!
