I thought I’d try to build and run it from source. I haven’t used npm for a few years so probably not the best option! I’ll run the appimage instead another day.

It’s very neat. I was probably giggling as I sent emails back and forth to myself.
My only comment at this point, is that the bridge sends the email using your public key and the bridge’s domain, as you point out. So you’re still stuck in the centralized idiom and can’t easily switch to using another bridge. To the email server, your identify is tied to the bridge.
Disclaimer: I don’t really understand how the bridge works so my knowledge is probably flawed.

Just don't bloat the app with feature after feature, especially if you're going public. Decide what the app is going to be and stick to it.

It’s kinda cool that you can swap Nostr-mail messages with a regular email account. I guess the only limiting factor is the quality of the nmail-smtp bridge you use. #nostr #tech #nmail #email

Ive been trying out the Ditto iOS app for a while but suddenly this morning, it refused to populate the “Following” feed. No errors, nothing. The “Discover” feed worked just fine though. Perhaps a relay wasn’t responding, though the same set of relays work in Nostur. #nostr

2026-10-23 21:08:10 UTC

Is there such a thing as a multi-tenant Nost bunker, where people can sign up and store their keys? I realize that somewhat defeats the purpose of using Nostr, but I’m trying to look at Nostr from the eyes of a non techie. Just curious.

I have two iOS #Nostr apps configured to read and write either the same relays but they show different content on their “following” feeds.

I need to understand how #Nostr wallets work. I guess Nostrich created a wallet for me when I used it? I seem to have some kind of lightning address attached to my key, which automatically appears in apps when I log in to them.
But where is that wallet? How do I use it? It's all very new to this old fart. 😁
I don't expect to send or receive anything, I'm just curious how they work and how they're associated with me.

2026-10-23 03:09:45 UTC

I tried using the Clave signing iOS app. It worked ok with one nostr app but it didn't work very well with another. I need to understand how signing apps work, what and where they store data and whether they need to always be open when using a paired #Nostr app.

I’m using the Ditto iOS app but what is the “Ditto” feed? What is it showing me?

It’s strange posting something to Flotilla, getting a reply and seeing the notification in Nostrord. Except the notification in Nostrord doesn’t exist and/or can’t be displayed. #nostr

I wish had more time and energy to spend in front of my laptop building Nostr apps. For the first time in a long while, Nostr is actually a technology that intrigues and interests me. I've noticed recently, that the older I get the more I detest technology and the more it bores and irritates me. But Nostr is, dare I say, a bit fun?
I'm not in the "Nostr and Bitcoin will save the world" camp. I have no interest in Bitcoin (so stop spamming me people!). But Nostr has some potential.

I'm trying the Ditto app on #iOS and #Android. Let's see how these work out. I'm not using a wallet as I don't need it, and Ditto looks like it covers the basics quite well. #nostr #tech

I mentioned like how it asks you to approve or reject an incoming message. Maybe a user could maintain a whitelist of public keys to auto accept messages.

I quickly tried out NostrMail as an experiment and it actually worked. I managed to send an email to my personal email account via the configured bridge. The message was recognised as spam, but that's ok.
I used NostrMail's web UI and it was quite good. Though if I tapped refresh, it never seemed to stop spinning. It took a long time to send the email from the UI and it took a long to receive it. I liked the fact that I had to approve the sender when it received the reply I sent from my personal mail.
Unfortunately I don't really see a use for it yet.

It’s worth asking if anyone recommends an iOS #nostr app other than Nostur. Not one that is tied to a company’s single relay though. One that accesses several relays so I can find peeps out there.

I think I’ll do some research and see if there’s an old school discussion forum built on Nostr. Something with infinite sub forums (in theory anyway!), moderation, invite only. I miss those old forums and I don’t like Discourse or similar sites. I guess I’m old school, and probably just getting old!

Nostrord does look interesting. I’d love to see it grow and pull people away from Discord.
Nostrord seems to let you create a channel that is invite only but the content is public, which I like for certain situations. I tried creating such a group, but it wanted me to verify something on a relay, but I didn’t understand what that meant.
