More than accuracy (that said, my go-to measuring vial for hoby stuff is a measuring mouthwash glass), it ensures consistency between your batches (if you measured correctly, you're sure you'll get the same amount every time - and that's the biggest issue I run into when I'm mixing stuff: I struggle to get consistent results)

Chemist's tip: if you want to get all of your ink and medium in the tank, measure your water beforehand in a separate container, and use the measured water to cleanse your recipient between each pour, pouring the rinse water into the tank (and add the remaining water afterwards) :D

I'm less radical than you about the movie's ending. Even if the Jackson ending tells a different story than the books, it stays true to the hobbits' nature: they don't care at all to what happens outside of the Shire (even if the whole world is at stake)(as it's abundantly documented in Tolkien's works)(Have I mentioned my absolute disdain for these stupid fat people? :chaos: ).

I also really like the books ending and all the points it raises in a few pages, but that's something you can do in a book that is hard to translate to screen... (you'd have to characterize some people for the scene to be meaningful - at least Lobelia, Lotho and Robin Smallburrow, and have a lengthy explanation of what happened)

In the bonuses of the long version, he justifies it by the fact that it would have lengthened the movie (and the production) too much for too little interest.
And I must say that I quite liked the "alternate Shire ending" he did, where we see the heroes coming back changed in a world that stayed the same, and which doesn't apprehend what they did, in a stark contrast with the Gondor crowning scene where all Middle-Earth bows to them...
