Unfortunately we do not account for payment split failures in our zap receipts - we generate a single zap receipt for all splits.
This is a tradeoff because the zap receipt cannot be updated as it's not a replaceable event. The fact that we have multiple splits makes it complicated and even if we did wait for the result of each split - that would not render easily on other nostr clients.
My view is that a more flexible payment receipt event kind would make things much easier - I proposed this in 2024 but it had no takeup - https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/1339
We also chose to do things this way to put the burden on receiving wallets to reduce their payment failures.
I know this is not ideal - but I cannot think of a better way of doing it right now given the constraints.
Happy to hear suggestions.

This week in London - the Podcast Standards Project met to discuss the adoption of new features that improve open podcasting for both listeners and creators.
Our goal is to keep podcasting open and ensure you always have choice of where to listen - without centralised platforms dictating the experience and forcing specific ad volumes or algorithms.
I am advocating within this group to use nostr as the social layer for podcasts - powering likes, comments, and social recommendations by using NIP-73 to canonically reference shows and episodes via their GUIDs - just like we do in @nprofile…xay4 today where all of this data is open for anyone to use.
If you believe in keeping podcasting open - whilst enriching the experience to match the big platforms - help me advocate to the rest of the industry:
- use @nprofile…xay4 and share feedback on what’s working and what’s not
- reach out to your favourite podcasts and tell them about nostr
- as a podcaster - ask your hosting company to support nostr
- repost / share this note with others who are interested

Hi - it looks like keysend payments to your node (crime21@getalby.com) are intermittently failing.
For the top boost example on this episode - the 4,242 sats were sent by @nprofile…n59y with an NWC wallet connected to Fountain. When splits fail on a boost from an NWC wallet - we refund the split amount to the Lightning Address of the connected NWC wallet - and I can see the refund was processed so @nprofile…n59y should see a 4,284 refund payment in their NWC wallet - I can share the invoice and preimage for the refund if that's helpful.
The status of each payment split should be visible in the Fountain wallet for NWC transactions - so any user can check in the app and should see a REFUNDED status for any splits that failed. Transaction Reference IDs are also available on the transaction detail page.
If you would like me to check other specific examples - please send an email to hello@fountain.fm with the Transaction Reference ID and I can check them for you.
Let me know if that all makes sense.

All good points.
We are not going to deprecate keysend anytime soon and as especially not as long as there are still lots of feeds using it - however I do believe the lack of wallet adoption means it will eventually fade.
In terms of artist's running their own nodes - I get the appeal of keysend but the reality is the majority of artists I speak to will never do this - they need wallets that are easy to onboard to and easy to use - and all the new wallets coming out that provide this ux and easy onboarding do not support keysend.
Out of interest - how do you approach the conversation with new artists? What wallets do you recommend?

2026-05-05 16:06:22 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…n2l0 I think I know what's going wrong - the value time splits are working but the remote feed / item metadata is not being sent properly - I am working on a fix and will let you know when resolved.

2026-05-05 15:20:43 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…n2l0 I am looking into this for you - and I can confirm that value time splits are working as normal.
Can you please let me know what exact keysend TLV info helipad requires to render the remote track references?
(also keysend is dead - no new wallets support it - we will eventually deprecate it)

Fountain 1.5 is now live with a brand new trending feed showcasing which episodes and music your nostr network find valuable.
The new trending feed combines different signals to rank notes including zap value, reactions, and recency to highlight a broad set of recommendations.
We’ve also re-written the backend so feed queries along with comments, threads, and profiles now load much faster.
I’d love to hear your feedback on the new trending feed - especially if you think anything’s missing or we could give more weight to certain things.

Hi @nprofile…y98t - this issue exists because @nprofile…m58v do not include payment information in their publisher feeds (the rss feeds that define the artist profile). So we don't know where to send the payment if someone tries to support from the Artist page. You should be able to support from any of the album / track pages though.
If you want to switch to Fountain for music hosting - it's $1/month and we can help you get setup - https://fountain.fm/artists

2026-02-23 14:57:28 UTC

Yes it is a bit hidden - we've considered playing video by default for episodes with video - but I'm not 100% sure it's the right approach - will try and make the switch to video option more obvious.
On Amber signer - we're aware of an issue that sometimes can affect the remote signer if signing is not set to automatic - we have a fix that should be live in the next 48 hours - version 1.4.9

- On app links - these seem to work fine for me on iOS - are you on iOS or Android? Could you share an example link that didn't work?
- On sats per minute - the minimum is currently 10 sats per minute but we will definitely consider lowering it if (when) the bitcoin price rises considerably
- On playback speed granularity - it's on our roadmap to add more granular options
- On Bluetooth headphone controls - what kind of customisation would you like?

2026-02-22 20:30:16 UTC

- reply

What makes podcasting special is choice - you can listen in any app - and creators can host anywhere or even self-host.
Recently we've seen more podcasters recording video - and last week Apple Podcasts announced they will soon add support for video podcasts.
But what we don't want to see with video podcasts is more walled gardens with platform lock-in.
The good news - there is already an open standard for delivering video versions of episodes - the RSS <podcast:alternateEnclosure> tag. If you host your podcast with Fountain - the video versions of episodes use this tag meaning any app can ingest the video and offer listeners the option to switch to video right from the player.
Apple have historically been good stewards of open podcasting - and I hope that they will adopt the alternate enclosure tag with their video implementation.
In the meantime Fountain will keep building on open standards and demonstrate how video podcasts and other new Podcasting 2.0 features can be built in an open way - https://blog.fountain.fm/p/video-podcasts
We're committed to making the Fountain app the best listening experience for podcasts - please tag me anytime if you have feedback on how we can improve!

@nprofile…62he since Wavlake don't support feed redirects - the best thing for Artists if they want to switch to self-hosting is to delete their content from Wavlake after they've setup new feeds on Music Side Project.
However if not done correctly this creates another issue of duplicate artist profiles in Fountain and other apps. Maybe Music Side Project could have an "Import from Existing Feed" function that maintains the publisher, album, and track guids?
The most important thing is that the guids stay the same - if this is the case we can resolve duplicates on our side easily without losing any of the nostr data.
