When I hear the words that exclude, in any fashion, the culture of anyone (food, clothing, language, celebrations, etc.) there seems to be an underlying xenophobe. What I have seen over decades is the melding of cultures in a redefinition of Canadian society. It takes patience (generational) with time. The beauty and strength of who we are as Canadians is unique and celebratory.

Those drunk with power show two traits - being petty and being vindictive.
It is something we see constantly these days.

Just found out something about the Claude AI platform. If I give it a catalogue of my personal library any questions asked will use those books as sources in the answer and note the book for further reference. No global perspective but a very direct personable and researchable one.

Is it possible to design and use drones for forest fire fighting? There's the lake for water, there's the fire to drop it. #forestfires #drones

Listening to a podcast and transcribed a few minutes into text. Searched for the word "like". Found 18 instances of this word in 7 paragraphs.
Why do I find hearing this word so often so irritating? It evokes a "fingernails on the blackboard" response.

There is something about a good map. Purchased a Danish map of the island of Lolland where my wife is from and we lived for years. It is framed and on the staircase wall. When I see it one senses the place and proximity of various locations instantly. A good map never disappoints does it.

So here we have the headline from the Globe and Mail - Stephen Harper criticizes Carney, says he falsely took credit for financial crisis response.
Seriously Harper, please be quiet. You did enough damage with your Reform Party takeover of the Conservatives. Your voice right now is inane.

Trump could have waited with the tariffs on Canada and Mexico until March 15th. It would have given a modern meaning to "be aware of the ides of March." Then there is - Et tu, Brute? Maybe that is the hardest part of our friendship with the States - what did we do?

Is social media very socialable or is it ultimately isolational? Often it seems there is an erosion of social coherence and loss of being united. (With thx to Byung-Chul Han)

Remind them in Canada, the King is the Head of State; so, in order to become citizens, all applicants for citizenship who are 14 years of age or older **must** swear or affirm to be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King Charles III, King of Canada, His Heirs and Successors.
If the candidate does not take the Oath, they cannot be presented with the Oath or Affirmation of Citizenship form to sign or their certificate and do not become a Canadian citizen.

The more I use Mastodon the more I see and use an unbelievable resource. It has elevated the notion of "social media" to a thinking persons sphere. You certainly do not need hundreds of millions to validate a platform.

So Elon says "Stop donating to Wokepedia until they restore balance to their editing authority". Balance? WTF is he talking about? I put my Mastodon address in my Twitter header. After being on Twitter for 14 years he wiped everything (tweets, followers, sign on) out. Gone. Poof. And this guy is talking about BALANCE? There seems to be little chance of what he states of ever arriving at some restoration of common sense and balance.

The definition of photographs has changed. Not necessarily this:
"What is written about a person or an event is frankly an interpretation, as are handmade visual statements, like paintings and drawings. Photographed images do not seem to be statements about the world so much as pieces of it, miniatures of reality that anyone can make or acquire."
