Key phrase here is "draw the proper conclusions"; not "do the right thing", not "get justice", but "draw the proper conclusions." Progressives believe the "proper" conclusions are the ones that affirm their narrative and/or punish their enemies.

Just a reminder that Fauci's pardon covers a period going back to 2014, which seems a little odd if it's only about Covid response, which didn't start till late 2019 / early 2020 . . . just coincidentally, the gain of function research Fauci funded in Wuhan started in, you guessed it, 2014.

Shiloh Hendrix was convicted of disorderly conduct, fined $1000, has 200 hours of community service, and has a 90 day suspended sentence while she does a year of probation, all for calling Sharmake Omar the n-word after he began videoing and provoking her. Coincidentally, Sharmake had been convicted of disorderly conduct earlier but only had to pay a $200 fine . . . for throwing a rock at a car and then assaulting the teenage driver. Originally charged with 3 counts of assault and pled down.

It's less crazy if that foreign country has high-quality technology and combat experience that your country does not. The devil will be in the details: cooperation on technology is not necessarily the same as incorporating Israeli gear into our supply chain; it could certainly lead to that, though I'd expect the US MIC to push back hard. There are good reasons to be against this, but hard to see how it's that big a deal.

The real lesson from January 6, especially compared to the BLM riots that preceded it, was that you can fuck with little people all you want, burn and loot all the little people neighborhoods you want, but if you actually protest the people responsible, the politicians, they will go berserk with fear and the state will come down on you like the wrath of god. J6 taught us that you either leave politicians alone or you kill them; nothing in between.

I agree with you, but this is pretty typical for law enforcement in general. Part of it is that training at "the range" is very specific . . . training for moving targets in high stress situations is a completely different experience, and much more expensive and time consuming to do, than standing calmly at the range shooting holes in paper. A combination of range time and simulators is probably the do-able option; don't know whether Secret Service uses that approach.

Calcium isn't magnetic and the magnets aren't there to attract anything; IIRC they are supposed to affect the molecules the calcium is in so that they don't leave deposits, but they do not take the calcium out of the water. All that said, 1. for every "expert" who says they work, there are three that say they don't, and 2. even the "pro magnet" people admit the effect is temporary; works with running water but not with a tank of water in your water heater.

Not really. The dynamic in California statewide races is predictable: in the open primaries, democrat support is split over multiple candidates while Republican support coalesces behind one guy, two at most. The polling then produces the illusion that the Republican has a shot. Every democrat candidate wants the same thing: to be the #2 primary vote getter behind the Republican candidate, because in the general, the state elects the democrat every time.

There were two sides of that coin: On one hand, the US has dropped the ball on some good opportunities for using diesel-electrics, especially for cold war littoral use. On the other hand, the relentless focus on nuclear boats gave the US a commanding lead in that technology, which, given the US strategic imperatives of long-range sub deployments and then later the use of ballistic missile subs, was of much greater strategic importance.

Just guessing, but ICE was probably on edge because this was the latest of multiple incidents of protestors using cars, which are potentially fatal for the LEO regardless of intent. This is one of those "when you slow it down and discuss it, he didn't need to shoot, but he was making a decision in a high stress second . . ."; I can see thinking in that moment that she was trying to hit him, nevertheless, the car was clearly turning away from him when he fired.

Watch it again and focus on the front left wheel:
-- the wheel is moving before he draws; the wheels might have spun on ice so wheel movement does not necessarily equal car movement
-- she is clearly trying to turn away from the LEO, to the right. Here we get into mind reading: I buy into the "she panicked when she realized it wasn't cosplay anymore" narrative much more than "she tried to run him over and just was turning away from the gun" idea, but we'll never know

Republicans in California should stop putting candidates for statewide offices into the primaries: every Dem in the primary wants it to end with one Dem (who splits the Dem vote) and one Republican (usually supported monolithically) because Republicans will never win a statewide race. By not running, the Republicans might get leverage to make one of the two Democrats in the general election moderate to get some conservative votes, which is the only way for R's to have any influence at all.

I agree that the term "depression" gets thrown around carelessly, more or less synonymous with sadness, but I've had two family members suffer from clinical depression, and it is real and it is different.
People who suffer from real depression both cannot imagine a better future and are in denial that there is anything wrong with them; they resist both the diagnosis and the treatment. In these ways it is totally different from "look at me" sadness. For them, drugs are a lifesaver.

Reality is that, contemporaneously, they dropped an interview in which they dissed Reba McEntire fans, saying that if you listened to Reba you were too dumb to listen to the Chicks. It's even better: one of the themes of that HBO series was the reduction and feminization of black men. Ref them and low water pressure: in firestorms like we see sometimes see in Cali, all the water pipes above ground will melt; there will be a lot of water leaks with or without sprinkler systems.

I think the GOP is split maybe 50/50 (at best): MAGA vs. RINO (with RINO predominate in the Senate, MAGA in the house, and huge variation state by state). Either the MAGA/MAHA alliance sticks and boots the RINO out of the GOP entirely, or the MAGA/MAHA folks need to opt out and go third party. Either way, it will be painful and messy.
