So - @npub1w96…g2l7 , @npub1f2n…4e0r , and I are committed to keeping this place running, but every little bit helps and we would appreciate it if you could help us to cover our deficit and get to the point where we are covering our costs month to month. Thank You!!

2026-03-19 00:49:35 UTC

Good evening everyone! I'd like to give a quick financial state of the union for FA. The good news is that we have our expenses down to just under $200 per month as of last September - prior to that they were just over $300 per month. We are getting close on recurring subscriptions, but we are netting only about $165 per month, so we are running at about a $25-30 per month loss and we have a $1,600 deficit that was built up over the last 3 years when costs were higher.

So when will things become more stable - I'm thinking that they will, but that we have quite a crazy year ahead of us. The market has already shown that it can run silver up $40+ and gold up $1,000+ in just one month this year so I'm thinking / hoping that they will go up to about $10k / $250 over the course of this year and then stabilize. I'm also hoping that we get a currency that is pegged to them at that point and trying to imagine how that could happen...

It would be easy to just pick a number on a hunch, but I'm trying to think a bit deeper than that. The real issue is that people are realizing that paper currency is losing value rapidly, so if we have hyper inflation then gold may be 1,000,000 but it will not be relevant to today's discussion. I'm thinking that what is happening is a response to uncertainty and that once things become more stable, the wheel will stop wherever it is (cont'd)

Happy 2026 Everyone - I have a feeling that this will be a year that makes 2025 look quiet and uneventful!

So please - if you value FA - please show it by going to givesendgo.com/FreeAtlantis and pledging whatever you are comfortable with to help keep FA going. I am hoping that we can hit this very modest target, but I assure you that if we close our doors, we will cancel all subscriptions at that time and take no more money!!! We are and have always been a not for profit entity!!!

Thread:
I may have good news - it seems that perhaps we were not meant to go to such an early demise. Our hosting provider just agreed to reduce our cost by $85 per month, so with the downgrade of our email plan saving $40 per month, our total costs are now down to approximately $160 per month. This means that if we can just get $50 more in monthly subscriptions, we are back in business. (Continued)

2025-09-17 11:18:52 UTC

Good Morning! We received $25 in donations yesterday - only $150 to go and we are solvent again!!

2025-09-17 01:43:47 UTC

Good Evening everyone! I apologize, but I have some bad news. We had pledged to keep the site going until after last years election and late last year we ran what I was hoping was our last fundraising drive trying to get as close as possible to covering our approximately $300 per month in expenses. (Continued)

2025-01-09 14:49:24 UTC

Good morning everyone - just a quick update - we are still standing at $175 per month out of our goal of $200. If anyone else cares to sign up - even for $5 per month - it would be much appreciated. This coming weekend, I will provide a more detailed accounting of our finances. Thank you and have a fantastic day!

We would be happy to do so if it were something within our control, but sadly, it is not. We are basically using a software package and the package doesn't give us this option.

Hi Everyone - I hope you are all enjoying the holidays! I've been a bit out of communication - in Bogota, Colombia right now visiting my mother-in-law!! Just a quick status update - we are now at 75% of our goal of $200 per month in subscriptions. Things are looking very good and we just need about $50 more per month to make it over the finish line. I have to say that I feel like one of those annoying PBS fundraisers so please help us out and spare me having to do this much more :) :) :).

2024-12-18 21:18:06 UTC

Good afternoon everyone. There has been a lot of confusion about "subscriptions" to FA. I hope this doesn't add to the confusion, but I have to say that we are committed to being a not-for-profit, voluntarily funded site. We need about another $110 per month in pledges and then we can exist forever, but if we cannot reach this extremely modest goal by January 20th, then we have no choice but to close down the site. Subscriptions are gratefully accepted at https://www.givesendgo.com/FreeAtlantis. Thank You!

So let's set a goal of having the site fully funded by January 20th, 2025 (just a random date that I picked). I will post updates every day or two between now and then - the main focus is to have monthly subscriptions so that we can all rest easy, but anything we get will keep us going. THIS IS A NON-PROFIT entity, so we will keep it going as long as possible and all contributions help very much and are appreciated!
Sincerely,
Bryan

MORNING UPDATE:
Dear FA Family - while I didn't mean my update last night as a fund-raising attempt and certainly not as a guilt-trip for anyone, I am happy to say that some new donations and subscriptions started to roll in last night and early this morning. We are now up to 40% of our subscription goal, so let's keep this conversation going until January 20th and we will see where we stand.
I am touched at how many do truly value this site and I would be happy to see it keep going (CONT'D)

Here is where we stand by numbers. We have approximately 100 people who have been active in the last day, 200 that have been active in the last week, 250 that have been active in the last month, and all-time we have had approximately 4,500 users register. If less than have of the super-active people would pledge even $5 per month, or if 20% of them would pledge $10 per month, we would be fine, but right now we are only taking in about $60 per month so it is what it is...

So with this said, I'd like to solicit everyone's input and, if now is finally the time, contributions. We are happy to maintain the status quo for as long as enough is coming in to pay the bills, but we have to be realistic and practical about the future.
We'd love to know your thoughts.
Sincerely,
Bryan

The first option is that if we have enough sustaining contributions, we are happy to simply keep FA running as is.
The second option is that we are open to transferring the financial responsibility and management of the site to one of you if you have an interested.
And the final option is to simply and gracefully close our doors.
Our total operating costs are just over $200 per month, so this is not a big money operation, but we don't have the contributions to keep going... (CONT'D)

The consensus was that if we won the election, FA the USA would be once again on its way to freedom and greatness and we would no longer be as desperately in need of a place like FA. However, had we lost then we were determined to do whatever it takes to keep FA running through the coming dark days.
So this brings me to where we stand now - we have three options. (CONT'D)

We have asked for contributions as infrequently as possible and each time we have been answered with a very generous outpouring of donations that have paid the bills for 3 and 6 months at a time. However, what we haven't gotten is enough recurring donations to keep us going perpetually.
@npub1w96…g2l7 and @npub1f2n…4e0r and I saw this moment approaching back in the months before the election and at that time we decided that our goal was to keep the place running at a minimum through Nov 5 (CONT'D)

THREAD: - STATE OF FREE ATLANTIS
Dear Fellow Free Atlanteans
First - I want to thank everyone for being here - we created this site in a moment of despair after learning that the site that most of us had fled from Twitter too was just as corrupt as Twitter in its own way. Our goal was to create a haven for free speech and good people and I am very proud that we have succeeded.
Now, for the "But" - the issue is that we are pretty much out of funds. (CONT'D)

I just read a great line from a friend of mine:
"Musk and Trump are living Rorschach tests - how one responds to them reveals all about one's character and psychology."
How very true! Thanks to Trump, I now know exactly the character of many that I have known for a long time and I can quickly learn about those that I only just have met!
