People are always shocked to hear my two Iranian parents met in a nightclub in St. Louis, Missouri. I always completely understand their confusion, because for real, how likely was it for two Iranian immigrants, same age, in the year of 1990, to meet in a random nightclub in missouri? There’s still not a lot of Iranians in missouri to this day!
It was my mother’s first time going clubbing. She had just came to America the year prior, and was still new to American living. My father on the other hand, had been in St. Louis with his brother since the late 70s. He went out nearly every night, knowing every club and bar. A known womanizer and partier. They got married a year later.
I think I love St. Louis so much because of the mere fact that without this city, I would have never been born. This city is the reason for my existence. For that, I’ll always be grateful
Here’s an article about the nightclub they met at from the St. Louis Post Dispatch in 1989

2026-05-14 23:14:34 UTC

My inaugural year of college is officially complete!
Summer classes commence in a few weeks. Right now though, I am entirely consumed by a profound sense of monumental pride and joy.
Each day I attended lectures was another step toward actualizing my dreams. HVAC is an exceptionally useful trade to always have. I will cherish that expertise dearly, especially since I still work in the field, and AI is unable to take over that role. All those exhaustive days of manual labor, listening to friends speak about their college pursuits, had rendered me a desolate, envious shell. I had such an insatiable yearning to be in college, where I could actually flourish, and do something that I knew would bring me so much happiness.
I proudly attend a community college. It is truly the most brilliantly underrated decision any college student could. The institution provides unparalleled affordability, the same classes as all the universities around, exceptional advisors, and an astonishing level of true care and immense investment from professors. Funnily enough, you won’t get that paying 50k a year at a university.
The elitism I encounter when disclosing my academic home actually makes me love it more. And trust me, I utilize every aspect of the college to its fullest extent. From the tutoring center, to the library (which has an impressive selection), even the outdoor gardens.
Anyways, rant over. Cheers to a flawless 4.0 GPA, an honors induction, and securing first place awards in both journalism and poetry.

On this quote “Not everyone can or will escape to America and flounce about on Nostr (a place they generally avoid because they don't really care about it), waxing poetic about free speech, “
Let’s break it down. I could not control my iranian parents meeting in missouri, and being born in the usa.
Second, I work two jobs and go to college full time. My days often look like: 4am-8am first job as a repairman. 9am-2pm classes. 4pm-10pm: waitress. then assignments for class afterwards.
I guess I do apologize for my lack of time to be on nostr as much as I would like to, as much as Miss. Laeserin is able to.
Anyways, GN. 2 finals down 5 to go.

nah, i’m not even going to proceed with responding to your ignorant words, and utter lack of depth. once your able to learn the glorious task of reading comprehension, and come back with a proper response i will respond. watering down my words to “everyone sucks”, blatantly shows your inability to understand nuance.
but then again it must be hard to read with netanyahu’s genocidal dick is in your mouth.

My award winning poem:
"I Sing the Body Radioactive"
After “I Sing the Body Electric” by Walt Whitman.
Written entirely from the perspective of Coldwater Creek itself. As if a human entity.
For those unfamiliar with St. Louis’s environmental history, the creek became a dumping ground for radioactive waste stemming from Mallinckrodt’s uranium processing, a part of the Manhattan Project for the creation of the Nuclear Bomb. It’s a devastating, ongoing legacy that poisoned the watershed and generations of citizens.
Kids who grew up playing in that water have spent their adult lives fighting rare, aggressive cancers. Entire North County neighborhoods have been gutted by illness and premature death.

Everything happening in Iran has had me unable to focus on anything. Seeing my parents so anxious everyday, hoping their family is safe has been excruciating.
It genuinely is a never ending nightmare everyday
My privilege being in America, safe, so far away is hard to cope with. I want to help, but what can I do?
