New Bookshelf 💃
If you like reading multiple books at once, use Track progress to create a virtual shelf of your current selection for easy access from Home.
When you reach the end, mark a book as finished and/or review it.
I changed the menus a bit and reshuffled settings, again. Hopefully for the better.

Content text search is wild. Go try it!
There are some other changes, too. You'll see. But, really, spend some time searching fav quotes 😁

Long-press on a book card now opens a menu.
And I added reviews. So cool.

Essayist relay is live.
Members can now broadcast articles to it, and read.
Members, you can add the relay to your list: wss://essayist.decentnewsroom.com
On Decent Newsroom, members can use the 'Broadcast to Essayist' shortcut on article pages, to add any article to the curation.
Writers can choose the option to only publish to Essayist in the article editor, to create a members-only preview of their work.
There's also a dedicated homepage, where members can browse the collection: https://decentnewsroom.com/essayist/home

I'm a bit partial to serif, so it's a personal bias of mine grating on your nerves. I'll look into it. Maybe I can make it configurable in the editor, so you could switch to sans and adjust font size.

The members are free to publish anything, there is no quality gate or a global editorial team. The membership requirement is designed to reward honest actors. The intent is to build an engaged community that will be willing and able to spot fake news, point that out in the comments (or reports), and debate its merits. And members have control of their own dials, to mute or follow contributions based on their own judgement.
Since this is a platform and an opt-in service, the relay reserves the right to remove content for legal reasons. This does not in any way affect the writers' ability to remain censorship resistant on the protocol level.

Whenever you upload an image on Decent Newsroom, it will show up in the Media Manager so you can come back for it later and reuse it elsewhere.
Or you can upload images in advance, and then grab them directly from the article editor to include them in your latest piece.

📰 The Inflation of News: Why Reporting Alone Is No Longer Enough
News used to be valuable. Knowing what happened, where, and when was essential. But today, that information is everywhere—instant, free, and often flooded with noise.
The value of raw reporting has dropped to zero—or worse, gone negative. Why? Because fake news doesn’t just disappear. It demands time, effort, and resources to verify or debunk. The cost of filtering truth from falsehood is now higher than the cost of producing misinformation.
The future of journalism isn’t just about reporting; it’s about curation, verification, and meaningful storytelling. That’s what we’re building with Decent Newsroom—a space for curated, high-value journalism that cuts through the noise.
