Memory isn’t a static recording but a constant act of reconstruction. Every time we revisit a note or a book, we are weaving together the original content with our current environment and past self.
"“We construct and reconstruct our memories every time we attempt to recall them.”"
So how do we decide what’s worth preserving and what we must allow ourselves to forget? Explore the “differential allocation of attentional resources” in this look at the fallibility of memory.

AI isn’t making us obsolete: we already were, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of. Promethean shame in an age of technological change.

My tennis serve was rough after a long time off. But drilling the basics reminded me mastery is a loop. To move forward you have to be ready to go back to the start.

"💬 “How convincing does the illusion of understanding have to be before you stop calling it an illusion?”"
That’s the question James Somers asks in The New Yorker.
My answer: Fail to see the illusion and you’ll fail to understand AI. Jules Verne could have told us AI is not a person
The case that AI is thinking | New Yorker. No, it isn’t.

whether or not this is technically correct it totally nails how I feel about cookie notices. They're obviously compliance theatre. I hate them all, especially when you have to accept 'necessary cookies' or else you get them all (you probably get them all anyway). Plus which data privacy gaslighter even needs cookies now? They've probably moved on to even more invasive methods. Oh, did I mention I hate cookies and their stupid fake notices?

Want to read: On Mysticism by Simon Critchley 📚 Having written about Julian of Norwich as a sci-fi author, I’m very interested in philosopher Simon Critchley’s angle.

same. It's always kind of fun to say "I liked it before it was famous". I told my partner, "That Chappell Roan's going to blow up" and now I feel smug, like it's me who made it happen 🤣 Oh, I've just realised - maybe it was you!
