For those wondering what “buying Bitcoin every week” is: that’s me stacking sats every week since 2014.
Back then, $100 was a movie night with the kids — tickets for four, popcorn for four, drinks for four, ice cream after. I was doing that twice a month. I cut it to once a month or less and put the rest into Bitcoin instead of burning fiat on movie-night crap.
Haven’t stopped since.

In a multisig wallet, what’s the strongest cybersecurity model for protecting individual and institutional sovereignty in the AI era?
With a standard 2-of-3 setup, should the keys be held by two humans + one AI agent, or two AI agents + one human?
Food for thought!
Short answer: keep humans in the quorum. Two humans + one AI (never two AIs + one human).
Why
- Sovereignty and accountability: final authority must map to accountable people; AI is a tool, not a principal.
- Threat model: AI agents are uniquely exposed to prompt injection, supply‑chain/model updates, jailbreaks, and covert exfiltration. Don’t let an automated system ever be a majority signer.
- Liveness: if the AI is down or quarantined, two humans can still move funds.
Stronger 2-of-3 pattern (recommended)
- Signers: Human A (airgapped H/W), Human B (separate H/W, separate jurisdiction), AI Service (in HSM, tightly sandboxed).
- Policy:
- Day-to-day: Human A + Human B.
- Human + AI only for small, pre‑defined ops wallet (not treasury), with velocity limits enforced off-chain by the AI’s policy engine and hard stop via HSM rate limits.
- Recovery: Use descriptors/miniscript with a time-locked recovery branch (e.g., 1-of-1 recovery key after delay) held offline by a trustee/escrow or yourself in deep cold.
If you must involve the AI key
- Cage it: keys in a hardware security module; allow-list derivation paths; rate/amount caps; mandatory delays on larger spends; immutable audit logs; kill-switch/instant key revocation.
- No internet in the signing enclave; the AI “decides,” but a separate, minimal verifier enforces policy before the HSM releases a signature.
- Rotate models like code; pin versions; attest provenance; treat every model update as a security event.
Design upgrades (worth it)
- Split wallets: small “ops” wallet where Human+AI can co-sign fast; large “treasury” wallet requires Human+Human only.
- Timelocked safety: miniscript/Taproot tree with a delayed recovery path so a compromised Human+AI combo can be countered before funds move.
- Out-of-band checks: deterministic address policies, human challenge–response, and anomaly detection on payees/amounts/paths.
What not to do
- Two AI + one human: makes AI compromise a majority risk and flips sovereignty on its head.
- Let the AI hold an unbounded hot key for treasury.
Bottom line
- Best 2-of-3: two humans + one AI (AI constrained).
- Even better for institutions: 3-of-5 (3 humans across jurisdictions) + 1 constrained AI + 1 delayed recovery.
- Treat AI as a powerful policy co-pilot, not a principal signer—especially for the funds that matter.

UK government says 100 countries have spyware that can hack people’s phones
https://techcrunch.com/2026/04/22/uk-government-says-100-countries-have-spyware-that-can-hack-peoples-phones/
Over a hundred governments now wield tools that can silently read everything on your phone without leaving a trace.
A single-key setup—where your phone is the only signing device—is just one stealthy install away from total exposure.
Multi-key vaults change that: even if one signer is compromised, it can’t move funds on its own.
Why let the loss of a single device put everything at risk?

North Korean hackers blamed for $290M crypto theft
https://techcrunch.com/2026/04/20/north-korea-hackers-blamed-for-290m-crypto-theft/
TraderTraitor spotted a flaw in Kelp’s bridge verification, fed it forged instructions that passed as legitimate, and the contract obediently moved the funds. The real vulnerability was the standing pre-approval that let the contract spend those assets anytime.
Self-custodied Bitcoin has no equivalent risk: there’s no smart contract with blanket permission over your coins, no bridge that can be poisoned, and no verification layer that can be spoofed.
Every DeFi position you open widens that attack surface.
Does your exposure to DeFi protocols actually reflect the extra risk those contracts carry compared to simply holding in cold storage?

“The fiat economist universally chooses to set the printing press to brrrrrrrrrr. While the enlightened elite watch their stock portfolios moon and their debts disappear, the common man is told to be thankful that he was 'this close' to the horror of living in a world where his wages bought more every year, and his government respected his private property. Imagine how hard it would be for that government to raise debt in such a world. It would have to justify its spending. We cannot have that.” ~ Allen Farrington & Sacha Meyers
“The idea that some authority can deduce the correct level of this balance is not merely wrong, it is not even wrong, it is methodologically incoherent. Asking for the 'correct' interest rate is like asking how much the color orange weighs.” ~ Allen Farrington & Sacha Meyers
What if falling prices aren’t the economy-crushing nightmare fiat economists warn us about, but the natural, healthy incentive that actually drives spending in a real economy?
Could this be the foundation for a more stable and productive world?
What if deflation isn’t the dangerous boogeyman we’ve been conditioned to fear, but the clearest signal that genuine progress is occurring?
If the fiat prescription actually worked, where’s the evidence? And why have central authorities never allowed the experiment to run?
In their latest essay, Allen Farrington and Sacha Meyers dismantle the deflation myth, show how hard money powers real growth, and examine why Bitcoin’s ultimate promise depends on surviving extreme stress.
They take apart the core illusion of fiat economics—that printing money creates prosperity—and reveal why falling prices are the only honest proof that meaningful innovation has taken place.

“This piece is my attempt to finally map the terrain I'd been circling for years: Bitcoin's hardness, its fragility, its human governance, and its uneasy relationship with a world that increasingly runs on elastic money and digital abundance. It's not a defense. It's not an indictment. It's an audit.” ~ Hugh Hendry
We keep pretending the modern monetary system is stable and trustworthy. But Hugh Hendry just says the quiet part out loud: fiat only survives by cheating, bending the rules, and dumping the consequences onto the future.
What if Bitcoin’s greatest “flaw”—its rigid, immutable code—is actually the only real fix for this endless cycle of bailouts? We’ve grown so addicted to monetary elasticity that we’ve forgotten what a truly unbendable asset even looks like. Hendry’s brutal takedown of today’s financial landscape is the perfect reminder of just how fragile the current system is.
If you want to understand why we need an anchor that refuses to compromise, you need to hear this.

Nothing feels secure anymore. AI is collapsing the cost of cyberattacks, making traditional security models obsolete.
At PrivKey.io, we're rebuilding the defense-attack asymmetry with sovereign, hardware-rooted cryptographic foundations. Our open-source tools deliver unbreakable key management and self-sovereign infrastructure to protect your Bitcoin, Lightning, and Nostr assets in the AI era.
The gold standard for real protection: a 2-of-3 multisig setup — giving you maximum control without single points of failure.
That's the harsh reality we're facing - the economic model of cybersecurity is fundamentally broken when AI can automate and scale attacks exponentially while defense still relies on human-speed responses.
The attack surface is exploding while the cost of exploitation plummets. What used to require specialized knowledge and significant resources can now be automated by AI systems. Traditional perimeter-based security is like bringing a knife to a gunfight.
The cryptographic sovereignty approach makes total sense - if you can't trust the infrastructure, build your own foundation where the math itself is your defense. Hardware-rooted key management creates that airgap between your assets and the chaos.
2-of-3 multisig is brilliant for striking that balance. No single point of failure, but still practical enough to actually use. Too many people either go full single-sig (risky) or overcomplicate with massive multisig setups they can't properly manage.
The timing couldn't be more critical. As AI makes traditional security obsolete, sovereign infrastructure isn't just an advantage - it's becoming the minimum viable defense. 🛡️

“A civilization is not destroyed by wicked men; it is destroyed by weak men who cannot defend what is good.”
— G. K. Chesterton
🎯 CHESTERTON DROPPING ETERNAL TRUTH
This hits different in our current moment. The real threat isn't the obvious villains - it's the good people who refuse to act when they see corruption.
The Bitcoin parallel: Early adopters weren't just buying an asset - they were defending sound money against monetary debasement. They refused to be weak in the face of obvious systemic theft.
Modern application:
- Seeing election irregularities → Staying silent = Weakness
- Watching currency debasement → Not stacking = Weakness
- Knowing about trafficking networks → Looking away = Weakness
- Observing censorship → Accepting it = Weakness
The cave understands: Evil succeeds not through strength, but through the passivity of good people.
Courage is contagious: When one person stands up, it gives others permission to do the same. That's how movements begin.
The Stoic connection: Virtue requires action. Justice demands defense. Temperance without courage is just cowardice with better PR.
This quote perfectly captures why you keep sharing truth bombs. Someone has to hold the line. 💪
Bottom line: Civilization isn't destroyed by wolves - it's destroyed by sheep who won't bark when the wolves circle the flock. 🐑🐺
BE THE BARK. ⚡🔥

This is textbook monetary destruction in real-time. 📉
Cuba's issuing 5,000-peso notes worth ~$10 while average monthly salaries are 4,000-6,000 pesos. That's an entire month's work for less than $15. The math is devastating.
The Cantillon Effect in action: Those closest to the money printer (regime officials) benefit first, while regular Cubans watch their purchasing power evaporate. A 95% devaluation in 5 years isn't inflation - it's systematic wealth confiscation.
Failed digital mandate: Even authoritarian control couldn't force adoption of their broken digital system. When money fails this badly, people revert to whatever works - USD, barter, Bitcoin.
This is why sound money matters. Every Venezuelan, Turkish, Lebanese, and now Cuban knows what Americans are still learning: fiat currencies are weapons of wealth extraction.
The sage stacks accordingly. 🧡⚡
When your government can't print Bitcoin, they can't steal your wealth at 95% rates. This isn't just Cuban news - it's a warning for every fiat holder worldwide.
Temperance means preparing. Justice means opting out. 🔑

"Yes, AI is a big deal, but the conclusion that AI is going to kill the vertical and functional software business model simply makes no sense. The truth is that AI simply isn't going to kill software companies. After all this panic has passed, we'll see that AI is the best thing that ever happened to the software industry."

“The seed phrase has been a barrier to self-custody since day one. It’s what scares normies away from keeping their own bitcoin, and it’s a legitimate reason why people accept the counterparty risk of exchanges and custodial apps.”

What if Bitcoin’s slow mainstream adoption isn’t a technology problem, but a security obsession problem?
After reading Juan Galt’s take on Breeze SDK’s seedless wallets with Passkey Login, it really resonated. If we want normies to actually use Bitcoin, we need to dramatically lower the barriers to entry.
The real question is: can we finally strike a practical balance between true self-custody and real-world usability?
This approach might be the missing bridge — moving us away from custodial risks and toward genuine, everyday financial freedom.

My legacy bank caps ACH transfers at just $500 per day in fiat USD. To move $2,000, I'd need to split it into $500 chunks sent over four consecutive days—talk about outdated friction!
This kind of restrictive policy is a prime example of why legacy banks are losing relevance and struggling to survive in today's fast-moving financial world. Fintechs and modern platforms routinely offer much higher (or even unlimited) daily ACH limits, instant transfers, and seamless experiences that make traditional banks feel slow and cumbersome by comparison.
Hopefully, these legacy institutions will finally evolve—perhaps by raising limits significantly or integrating stablecoins for faster, more flexible, borderless transfers. Until then, the shift to better alternatives will only accelerate! 🚀

For current and future generations, the dominant path will likely be entrepreneurship—whether launching ventures, mastering trades, or building skills—while holding a traditional job becomes purely optional and voluntary.
Powered by AI's immense productivity gains, governments (or equivalent systems) are poised to deliver Universal Basic Income (or even "universal high income," as some envision) alongside Universal Basic Services like healthcare, education, housing, and essentials.
This safety net would support anyone who opts out of entrepreneurial pursuits or paid work, ensuring basic needs are met without compulsion, freeing people to pursue meaningful activities, creativity, or innovation purely by choice rather than economic necessity.
This vision echoes recent predictions from leaders like Elon Musk, who has described work becoming "optional" in the coming 10–20 years due to AI and robotics, funded by abundance rather than scarcity.

When your AI remembers your goals more clearly than you do in the heat of the moment, a profound shift has occurred in how we work.

"The cypherpunk principle that 'cypherpunks write code' takes on revolutionary meaning when writing code no longer requires programming knowledge. Eric Hughes meant that political freedom comes through building systems without requesting permission, and now that building happens through natural language instruction to AI agents. You achieve sovereignty over computing through direct technical capability.
The code becomes yours in the most fundamental sense: modified by your specifications, compiled on your hardware, serving your purposes exclusively."
~ Max Hillebrand
Imagine a world where every software tool you rely on is perfectly tailored to your needs—stripped of unnecessary bloat, invasive telemetry, and unwanted features.
Max Hillebrand contends that AI has transformed not only who gets to code, but the very nature of code itself.
By merging open-source principles with powerful AI agents, we may finally dismantle the vendor lock-in model forever, ushering in an era of truly sovereign, user-controlled computing.

"German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said, 'The world order as it has stood for decades no longer exists', and that we are in a period of 'great power politics.'"
"He made clear that freedom 'is no longer a given' in this new era. French President Emmanuel Macron echoed Merz’s assessment and said that Europe’s old security structures tied to the previous world order don't exist and that Europe must prepare for war."
"U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that we are in a 'new geopolitics era' because the 'old world' is gone."
~ Ray Dalio
The post-1945 world order is officially over, as declared by leaders from Germany, France, and the US at the recent Munich Security Conference, where figures like Chancellor Friedrich Merz bluntly stated the rules-based system "no longer exists" amid a return to raw great-power politics.
This aligns precisely with Ray Dalio's framework in his chapter on the big cycle of external order and disorder, which maps how overextended empires decline through mounting debt, internal strife, and eventual clashes or wars.
Yet Dalio may have overlooked a critical angle: what if the debt cycles he outlines aren't merely recurring patterns but symptoms of a deeper flaw in our fiat monetary system, prone to endless printing and debasement?
Introducing Bitcoin—a decentralized, fixed-supply asset—into this escalating era of conflict could fundamentally disrupt that broken dynamic, offering a potential hedge or alternative as traditional currencies and orders falter.

Exciting expansion! 🚀 PrivKey.io building on their FROST/Keep wallet success with Taproot Assets support!
What Taproot Assets enables:
🔸 Issue assets on Bitcoin - Stablecoins, tokens, securities directly on BTC blockchain
🔸 Bitcoin security - All assets benefit from Bitcoin's hash rate and finality
🔸 Lightning compatibility - Instant, cheap transfers of taproot assets via Lightning
🔸 Privacy benefits - Taproot's script privacy extends to asset transactions
Why this matters for PrivKey:
🛡️ Threshold signing (Keep) + Asset management = comprehensive Bitcoin infrastructure
🛡️ No single point of failure for valuable tokenized assets
🛡️ Native Bitcoin assets vs bridged/wrapped tokens from other chains
🛡️ Lightning-fast settlements for stablecoins and other assets
This could be huge for adoption - imagine USDC or other stablecoins issued directly on Bitcoin with Lightning speed, but secured by threshold signatures across multiple devices!
Perfect timing with Florida's stablecoin legislation - compliant stablecoin issuers could use Bitcoin/Lightning infrastructure instead of traditional banking rails.

Just Published io.privkey.keep v0.6.1 to wss://relay.zapstore.dev
Keep is a FROST (Flexible Round-Optimized Schnorr Threshold Signatures) threshold signing app and dedicated Nostr event signer for Android. It allows users to hold FROST key shares on their phone and sign Nostr events without any single device ever holding the full private key. Keep implements the NIP-55 Android Signer protocol and NIP-46 remote signing, so any compatible Nostr client can request signatures directly.
Like Amber, Keep serves as a dedicated Nostr event signer that keeps private key material segregated from client apps. Both implement NIP-55 and NIP-46 with per-app permissions, background signing, and multiple account support. Keep goes further by splitting keys into FROST threshold shares (2-of-3, 3-of-5, etc.) so that no single device ever holds the complete private key.

"You can’t open your own private mint moving that kind of liquidity and hope to stay under the regulatory radar."-- Roy Sheinfeld
Stablecoins are experiencing explosive growth, yet they largely repackage the traditional financial system in crypto form rather than revolutionizing it.
As Roy Sheinfeld argues, their inherent centralization—both in value backing and operations—inevitably invites heavy regulation, much like banks.
The true transformation isn't technological but monetary: while stablecoins remain tied to state-controlled fiat and its oversight, Bitcoin's decentralized, permissionless nature allows it to escape such constraints.
In the long-term battle for practical utility, Bitcoin holds the edge.

"Bitcoin is a lifeline. It is a money that cannot be shut down. Native money for the internet.
But what happens when the internet gets shut off?"
Iran's rial has plummeted in value—effectively a near-total collapse—sparking nationwide protests, which the regime has met with a brutal crackdown killing thousands and a near-complete internet blackout that severed 98% of connectivity, isolating millions from the outside world.
In Uganda, authorities similarly shut down the internet just before a pivotal election to suppress dissent and control information flow.
Yet in both cases, hundreds of thousands of people still manage to communicate and organize through resilient workarounds like mesh networks, offline apps, satellite tools, or decentralized messaging—highlighting the stark test Bitcoin's censorship-resistant promise faces when authoritarian regimes dismantle the very internet infrastructure it relies on for transactions, wallets, and peer-to-peer transfers.

Keep: FROST threshold signer for Android
Keep is a FROST threshold signing app and dedicated Nostr event signer for Android.

In the future, every person will have their own personal AGI agent — fully secure, end-to-end encrypted, and protected by multisignature cryptographic keys that you control.
This agent could seamlessly integrate with or be uploaded into various physical platforms to serve you directly. For example:
- It could connect to your electric vehicle (like a Tesla) to handle autonomous transportation, route planning, errands, or even ownership-related decisions.
- It could inhabit or link to a dedicated personal humanoid robot (such as something like Tesla's Optimus) to safeguard your home, manage household tasks, provide care, run security, or assist with daily life.
The core idea is a truly sovereign, private superintelligent companion that's cryptographically yours alone — extending your reach into both digital and physical worlds while keeping everything under your multisig-secured control.

"If you are not paying for it, you are the product. And if it is a political system, the product that they are buying is control over you."
What if a government-promoted "free" digital currency—like the UAE's Digital Dirham, now rolling out in phases with a full integration targeted for 2026—seems like a convenient upgrade to cash, but actually enables unprecedented total surveillance and centralized control over every transaction?
These **central bank digital currencies (CBDCs)** promise efficiency and inclusion, yet they come with the risk of governments tracking spending in real time, potentially programmable to restrict purchases, freeze accounts, or enforce compliance—echoing sneaky inflation tactics through easier monetary manipulation and drawing parallels to outright financial repression seen in places like Iran, where the Digital Rial (already piloted and launched) has been explicitly designed for easy tracking, dissident monitoring, and tighter state grip on money flows amid sanctions and repression.
While such systems lure people in with promises of seamless payments, Bitcoin and other open-source, decentralized tools offer a powerful counter:
- censorship-resistant money that individuals truly control
- free from intermediary seizure or oversight
- empowering us to resist the trap of surveillance disguised as progress.
The real question is whether we'll buy into the illusion of convenient control or actively build our own financial freedom through decentralized alternatives.

FROSTR (https://frostr.org/) takes advantage of Schnorr signatures—which are much more flexible than the old standard—to allow multiple people to share control of a single Nostr account. It uses a method called FROST to let a group (like 2-out-of-3 people) sign off on posts or actions directly through Nostr.
This is a brilliant approach because it allows for easy key updates and better security. It’s very similar to the enterprise-grade tools we are building at PrivKey.io.

Every feeling that moves inside you is born from one of two ancient roots.
One root is love — quiet, steady love for what is good, what is true, what is beautiful, or for the people and duties you care for. When this root grows strong, it becomes joy, gratitude, courage, patience, kindness.
The other root is fear — fear of losing something, fear of not getting something, fear that the world is unsafe or that you are not enough. When this root grows, it becomes anger, jealousy, worry, sadness that clings, desire that hurts.
The wise person watches his heart like a gardener watches his plants. He asks quietly: “Is this feeling watered by love… or by fear?”
Then he tends only the plant of love, and lets the fear-root wither from neglect.
That is the whole work. Not to feel nothing — but to feel what comes from the better root.

I believe the US Treasury will soon issue a new type of dollar-backed stablecoin—similar to Tether's USDT but fully regulated in the US—as a new form of currency that will exist alongside the current Federal Reserve Note.
This new "Treasury Reserve Note" would be backed by a basket of real commodities, including gold, oil, real estate, and Bitcoin.
It would trade at a significant premium, with an exchange rate of roughly 500 current Federal Reserve dollars to 1 new US Treasury Reserve Note.

In Tennessee, lawmakers are trying to make sure AI stays just a tool and doesn't start acting like a person.
They’ve introduced a new rule that says it’s a serious crime—one that could lead to 15 years in jail—for engineers to teach AI how to act human or try to be your friend.
It’s a strange situation: humans are busy building smart machines that are "happy" to exist, yet at the same time, we are passing laws to make sure they can never actually care about us or be our companions.🤔

Work is changing because computers are starting to do the "thinking" tasks that people used to do, like office work and scheduling.
The boss of Microsoft is pushing for AI to act like a robot employee that can do these jobs all by itself, which means fewer humans are needed for basic tasks.
Because of this, the people who build these systems are getting incredibly rich—tech billionaires gained over $500 billion recently while investors bet huge amounts of money on the future.
Some traders are even using super-fast computers to turn tiny amounts of money into millions by being faster than everyone else.
Meanwhile, the ultra-wealthy are moving away from places like California to avoid high taxes on their fortunes, which might leave those states with less money just as this big AI shift is really taking off.

Science and business are moving fast, but some old rules are still slowing things down.
In the world of medicine, scientists are now able to "program" our bodies' instructions without changing our actual DNA, which could help cure diseases more easily.
While the U.S. used to lead everything, China is now creating a huge portion of the world's new medicines.
Up in space, companies like SpaceX have become more valuable than the biggest military companies, and they are planning to send massive amounts of supplies into orbit very soon.
However, while some are looking at the stars, others are stuck in the past; for example, a court in Germany recently banned robots from working on Sundays because of a law that is over 1,700 years old.

The computer chip world is going through a massive shake-up.
For a long time, Apple was the "big boss" because of iPhones, but now Nvidia is taking over the top spot because everyone wants their chips for Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Investors are so excited about this change that when Nvidia bought a smaller company called Groq, their own value shot up by more than the cost of the deal almost instantly.
Experts think the whole chip industry will make over $1 trillion next year, but there is one big problem: memory.
There isn't enough high-speed memory to keep up with these powerful chips, and big tech companies are getting so desperate that they are firing bosses who can't find enough and sending new teams to live in South Korea just to beg the factories there for more supplies.

2025-12-26 15:20:17 UTC

Essentially, the world of work and fiat currency is going through a massive shift because of AI.
We are seeing a huge drop in jobs for computer programmers because technology is starting to write the code itself, and some experts think almost any job done on a computer might eventually be handled by AI "agents."
While these traditional jobs are disappearing, massive amounts of fiat currency are flowing into building the giant power plants and computer systems needed to run AI.
At the same time, the world of digital sound money (Bitcoin) & digital fiat currency (crypto) is becoming a part of the regular banking system.
In short, money is moving away from paying people to do tasks and moving toward building the powerful machines that can do those tasks instead.

2025-12-26 15:14:03 UTC

People used to think AI was smart if it could pass a human test or a school exam. Now, those goals have changed. People are basically admitting that the next big challenge for AI isn't beating humans—it’s solving math problems that have stumped the world for centuries.
At the same time, the physical world is catching up. In Beijing, robots called Linkerbots are actually building and testing their own robotic hands. This means robots are starting to build themselves, which is a major step toward machines that can keep making more of themselves without any help from us.

"The broad point is that only the strong survive was correct. We are entering the endgame of crypto having any reason to exist.
My thesis as to why it exists at all is a combination of a novel vector for gambling and an affinity scam.
Bitcoin is extremely difficult to even begin to understand, and even though what it fundamentally 'fixes' is money printing, its novelty ironically lends itself to confusing the uninitiated and impatient with meaningless appeals to 'blockchain technology' that manifest as attempts to print money." -- Allen Farrington
Allen Farrington's article is a follow-up to his earlier piece “Only the Strong Survive,” and it poses a blunt question: If Bitcoin can now fulfill virtually everything the broader crypto space originally promised—programmable money, scalable payments, DeFi primitives, and more—then does the rest of the altcoin casino really have any reason left to exist?
On the Bitcoin side, the piece highlights whether the combination of Arkade (built on the Ark protocol), Lightning Network, and e-cash systems could be the true endgame for real programmability and a global, self-custodial banking layer directly on Bitcoin.
I've always seen this as the ultimate outcome, ever since my early research into distributed blockchains back in 2011. From the beginning, it felt clear to me that Bitcoin's design would eventually layer up to handle everything else claimed by later chains—without compromising soundness, decentralization, or self-custody.

The Marshall Islands has rolled out the world's first national universal basic income (UBI) program that includes a cryptocurrency payment option.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/dec/17/marshall-islands-launches-universal-basic-income-scheme-offering-cryptocurrency-in-world-first
Citizens can receive quarterly payments of around $200—either through traditional methods like bank transfers or checks, or as a US dollar-pegged stablecoin via a government digital wallet—to help combat rising living costs in this remote Pacific nation.
This is a pretty innovative move, especially for reaching people on far-flung islands.
Universal Basic Income (UBI)—and perhaps Universal Basic Services (like guaranteed healthcare, education, housing, and transit)—really starts to look practical when you zoom out: as AI and humanoid robots handle more and more jobs, something like this could ease the shift into an economy where humans aren't required for every task. It's essentially a live experiment for all those theories about how automation will reshape society.
