Well, it is "that's how it is," for now.
There's a saying in bitcoin: "we're so early," and that's possibly where v4v music in this echo chamber is atm; there's always time to grow & I'm going to continue to churn out episodes exploring the v4v music catalog.
Re: the questions & answers, ty 😊 You personally boost the amount of sats you're able too. The last thing I'll add is that if *most* people boost a track only once( I've no way to know & would like some aggregated data), then that's a bad ROI for the artist (not picking, I understand where you personally are coming from with limited sats).

Grief is a fickle, tricky emotion. It will give a gentle yet ever present reminder on a whim or with purpose. There is no resolving it, there is only acceptance. It comes, truly it does, and it comes in the allowing of it.

I believe it's 4% of listener's support/send value to *any* podcast based of #'s from Adam Curry(No Agenda); seems to be fairly accurate, though I don't know if OP3's are accurate & I really don't pay attention.
I think you're trying to understand why the other 96% do not support/send value, and the answer is nothing revealing ➡️ that's how it is. I don't have any epiphanies as to the "why." Here's a few ?'s:
Do you boost every track played on every v4v music podcast you listen to? Do you boost any track played on other v4v podcasts that play 1 v4v track during an episode? Do you boost the same track more than once? How do you determine that 123 is your value # for a track?
The term 'decentralized music' & the other shortened one, sound like a fad word to me, personally. Fads don't have longevity & I've stayed away from that terminology as best as I can & see and refer to it as independent music; it's more relatable, known, and is what it is. No need to create new labels or hyphenate things more, imo.
Then there's the whole sats/btc; it adds another layer of complexity for some. Bitcoin is fine, it doesn't care, it's a protocol and has no feelings. Bitcoiner's on the other hand either are too steep into their toxicity, arguing about implementations or lack there of, bitching about the influencers & suits, etc...and I've said to friends of mine, had I known of or seen the on-line commune of Bitcoin before "buying into it," I'd never have bought into it. Too loud, too aggressive, too cocky, just too much.
All this to say, it's really simple yet too complicated at the same time.
TL;DR, IMO, value-4-value music had a false start back when AC started his music show & a few reasons why. Now, FF, there are tiny tentacles doin' their own thing within this niche space. Maybe it'll organically grow, maybe it won't. I don't have a 🎱
I'm not saying it again, for the people in the back.

How is this aggregating sats to a specific track?
It shows 2.6K sats to Lone Wolf by Shetz here, from opening the app and random artist's being shown 👇
https://npub1k0q20cdcvc64h6pka8ddum6m6y2edm6mw6v73cfctjwvhq3rrejss2kmaj.blossom.band/5efd45dd09c68df1d324c91ae32d94b8525c7943cb9739345436285e98f8f920.jpg
When I went to the same artist & track, it shows 0 sats 👇
Also zero metadata (boost/zap) information; can't tell who sent what; possibly the intention of the app or the long standing issue with keysend & LNURL and wallets. Slick app, has issues from my brief skim through & observational view (I could be wrong though).

I agree with Ian and in my observation, those larger audience based bitcoin podcasts help to boost the particular track played at the end of an episode. The only one I know of is TWiB & I don't listen to bitcoin podcasts anymore, haven't in a long while. I do stream to certain podcasts, I'll boost as well depending on the content or if it's a v4v music podcast. I'll also directly give value to an artist by directly boosting a song that I really enjoyed from podcast guru.
Chad rightfully points out another issue with the two toes in everywhere bitcoin podcasts that use PC 2.0 & also YT, Apple Podcasts & even Spotify.
There are podcasts that strictly play music supported by sats. Find the one you like, tune in & support the show & artists; there's only a handful.
In the end, it is what it is.

2026-06-04 18:14:05 UTC

- reply

Yes, I agree. I appreciate that you listened in, and trust me when I write this now, I didn't say everything that I thought and observe. I censored myself as it isn't my platform or podcast & we had a set of rules to follow, loosely.

2026-06-04 16:26:21 UTC

I've been questioning the value for value model, not just within music, as a whole. I'm coming to a personal realization that if the 'value' is set to $0.00, most listener's will add $0.00 value back.
That isn't sustainable. It's a broken model that, IMO, requires a revision.
If everything is 'free' it really isn't 'free' as someone used their time and money to invest in a 'product' and time is an invaluable yet highly tangible thing.
I'll let Gene Simmons point of few things out (if he knew of value-4-value, he would rightfully laugh all the way to the bank).

A reason maybe that none of the v4v music shows are in the top 10, 20 or 30 of 'top episodes' or 'top shows' at the moment.
Seems to me, it's all algorithmic by design, though I may be wrong.
If you looked at Wavlake's top 40 ( and you do not need to log in), it's shows a totally different list.

Henrik-
I went back and re-listened to myself and I can hear that I am confused about your query in the way I am bringing this topic up. Thankfully, Matt clarifies and in the moment, I hear what he's saying, everything isn't registering, though. It's live, there are 4 other people talking and I am doing my best to listen, make a mental note on a specific topic someone else brings into the conversation and yet, stay within what I personally wanted to bring to the conversation.
I listened to more than half of your interview on Plebchain Radio. You explained your extensive background in music which I found interesting, your OP which we are talking about, was confusing to me. Had I posed this question, I would have stated in simple text, I personally do not approve, which goes back to the "Hard pass" note quote.
I've apologized to you already for my misunderstanding, and i apologize again.
Wether you choose to continue to engage in the nostr world is up to you.
For myself, I'm tapping out for the foreseeable future. I'm personally not deriving any positive nor thought provoking experiences.
Lastly, on this V4V Roundtable, the participants were to have a v4v topic, mine was nostr, nostr native music, etc...
Admittedly, I needed to do better in the way I explained or approached my viewpoints, and in the future, I will.

2026-05-31 01:11:46 UTC

- reply

I was questioning the question in general and my hard pass post was my statement on the topic.
I didn't read all the comments on your OP, though it was IMO, a vague question. I didn't say you supported the idea, just that it was posed & asked to the "community" (personally, I wouldn't give anyone any ideas) and I really didn't and don't understand the point of asking.
Apologies, sincerely, if you perceived what I said as support of a foolish idea. Thank you for taking the time to explain, and again, I apologize for any misunderstanding ✌️

2026-05-29 00:58:56 UTC

The "average bitcoiner" pays attention to bitcoin podcasts, it's where the cool kids are, all hivemind behavior.
Bitcoin podcasters like to hear themselves talk. They don't care about you, me or music that can be supported by bitcoin, they care about themselves & being influencers.
TWiB plays 1 v4v track at the end of an episode and that garners you more sats then all the v4v music podcasts combined? Of course, that podcast earns 250K+ sats an episode.
I'd never expect to have my Lil Ole podcast receive that amount an episode, quite frankly, not even in a year or more.
It's just not possible nor probable because that would require multiple people boosting each track 1000's of sats every episode. Highly unlikely when I'm playing over 20 tracks an episode (usually more).
Music is very individual to each person. I'm still gonna do my show because I enjoy it, for now.
The original post was tongue-n-cheek. Though WETF a nostrich is & I really don'tknow or care... I'm starting to think they'll end up burning 4v4 music down to the ground with the shiny object, new app, decentralize yourself into oblivion mindset.
Tis what tis is.

I'm personally wanting to reach out to artists that I come across on the standard platforms (Spotify/YT, Bandcamp) whose music I find quite funky & cool, yet they have smaller followings and from the research I've done, they're independent artist's.
What holds me back is fashioning an appropriate reach out email. Explaining the 4v4 space (that's isn't complicated), it's an alternate revenue stream.
I can easily explain Bitcoin & where they can host their music (Fountain/Music Side Project, Wavlake); I don't pick sides with where to host, it's up to them. Bitcoin (that's the value mechanism used) & they can do whatever they'd like with their revenue earned (hold it or convert it cash).
What holds me back is the NOSTR element, I think it's unnecessary at the moment, personally and adds another layer of complexity to creatives.
They want to make music, have people hear & enjoy it and garner more exposure.
IMO, this needs to be a simplified and easier process, and that is how I would approach it. I wouldn't bombard them with too much tech, that can come later & if they're interested.
TL;DR ⏭️ KIS

It doesn't work in numbers, I've already said this and I'm not repeating myself other than to say, again, there's no "nostr music."
If it isn't in the podcastindex.org it doesn't exist.

I look at my time-line and it's either:
People arguing and calling each other retarded, scammer or gay.
Or
People up each other's ass so far, they'll never see the sun shine.
Pick a fucking lane 🤷‍♀️

It's not a fall short thing, unless it's about splits.
Otherwise, it's really a lack of interest in more apps for music for me personally. I'm also app avoidant; can't stand the clutter on my phone or PC, and I don't live on either of them, I live in the real world.
This is my opinion, too many decentralized apps form more echo chambers. Maybe that's just a "for now thing," I really don't know, it's an echo chamber nonetheless.
What is the one thing musicians desire? Exposure, plain and simple. That happens in numbers & there are v4v music shows that take the time to really curate tracks for each episode, atleast I do.
Lastly, the drip-fed release of new music is counterproductive.
Flood the fucking index with yours & other artists back catalogs. Put it all out there, not just on a Thursday. Yep, talking to you @nprofile…qe6f & this "you can be the first to play this track...." is so bloody fucking high school, I personally can't stand it.
You asked, that's my honest pov.

You can hear curated playlists, top rated albums & tracks, listen to v4v podcasts & also search by genre and create your own playlist, if you'd like to.

Nope. I just test boosted to a Longy track I played a couple of episodes back & it shows up as a boost to the show with no artist or song listed on helipad.
Live? No idea, don't listen to live via fountain.

2026-05-03 20:25:15 UTC

- reply

When a track is played on an episode & boosted via fountain, it goes to the track, however, it doesn't show up in helipad & the music podcast host has no way to know someone received value from the track played.
So, yes, you got my roundabout point.

2026-05-03 20:13:45 UTC

- reply

90% is an observational estimate based on nostr posts I see.
I run my own node, receive boosts that show up in helipad which works just fine.

2026-05-03 19:35:47 UTC

What is the value and/or purpose of a value-4-value music podcast playing tracks from various #v4vmusic artists if 90% of people are using the Fountain app and are nostr adjacent?
The music podcaster(s) isn't aware someone heard a track on their show & gave it value because we're not able to see the value splits and what track(s) was boosted?
Possibly a problem is the track-list & chapters noted on the episodes within Fountain?
Or a TLV issue?
Or, music podcasts are irrelevant?
Thinking out loud here.

It's not an argument, it's an observation. Since fountain has become a nostr relay, it's nothing but issues with spam, bots and an app that works worse then it did 4 years ago.
RSS has been around for 20+ year's, stll works just fine without requiring centralization to a relay within nostr.
No need to reinvent the wheel, still round, still rolling along.

2026-04-26 22:42:43 UTC

I'd disagree. Bitcoiner's scream "decentralize," then centralize themselves into a different echo chamber.
