The very predictable side effect of not hiring junior roles and replacing* them with AI instead.
*AI can't actually do the job of humans.

Do any game devs in my network here live and work in Donegal?
I have some other game devs I know looking to connect up with other game devs locally. Give me a shout!

Hey 2D artists (based in Ireland preferred)! JOB ALERT! 📣 Especially those who do cozy cartoony or pixel art.
I have some game dev friends here in Galway from Psychic Software (Just released Necromancer's Tale) that are looking for an artist to team up for their next game.
Send your portfolio over to psychicsoftware@gmail.com

always a good reminder for the freelancers out there, educate yourself a little on legalese. I'm not an expert by any means, but a little competency goes a long way.
I recommend the Graphic Artists Guild Handbook as a good reference for this as they have example contracts. I got recommended this early on in my career by a mentor of mine, and it changed how I approached running a freelance business: https://graphicartistsguild.org/the-graphic-artists-guild-handbook-pricing-ethical-guidelines/

I was a bit shocked. They weren't even offering a great rate. But still.
There's no way I'd sign a non-compete when I run a freelance business working with many direct competitors. They'd have to lock in a long-term contract with very high pay for me to even consider that.
No thanks.

2025-07-03 09:13:48 UTC

Had a possible new client there who sent me their NDA so we could talk more in detail on the project before signing contracts. But it included, no joke, conflict of interest and non-compete clauses for up to a year... for an NDA!
They wouldn't remove them, so I walked.
Always read every agreement.

GenAi have used my work for training without consent or compensation (aka theft). Specifically Midjourney, but likely others too.

Alright #Godot comrades. As someone with ~10 years experience with Unity, and a couple years with Unreal, but to a much less intense degree...
What videos or tutorials would you recommend I pick up to kind of intro me to the engine?
Mainly coming from an artist perspective, but I do have programming know-how, but not to a pro level. More to a game jam, personal project, or "I've written Frankenstiened code to make things work" level.

I'm excited to share "A Man's Worth", an illustration I did for Brotherwise Games & Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere® RPG's Stormlight Archive campaign setting.
Check out the project over on Kickstarter. It's already raised over $8 million 😮👉 https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/brotherwise/the-stormlight-archive-rpg
