so Ghislaine Maxwell is a #Reddit mod again on r/worldnews. Guess what kids, if you're still using Reddit you're having a pint of beer in a pedophile-nazi bar. stop it.

It's been 32 years since the #TorontoBlueJays were last in the World Series. I was 10 years old when Joe Carter hit that homer. Springers homer lastnight made me feel like a kid again.

#FrameWork are now donating/sponsoring "wonderful" projects like Hyprland and Omarchy. sooooo Framework decided "hey, these racist nazi transphobes? not so bad...here's some money"
Also is it me or is DHH clearly paying for good press with Omarchy? Why are his personal dotfiles being hailed as the second coming of christ for #linux? Has anyone actually tried this "distro"? well dear reader, I did. so here you go. Warnnig it's a long post.
I installed Omarchy on a VM. the ISO itself clocks in at a hefty 6.16gb which is stupidly big. CachyOS isn't even that big and you get MORE with Cachy. The Install process is literally a skinned archinstall INFACT the Omarchy website even says, essentially, that you can install Omarchy with just the regular Arch ISO and then add all the junk Omarchy has yourself. why? because Omarchy doesn't improve anything, again, it's bloated dotfiles and applications.
And you NEED to clean it after install. you absolutely have to. The idiocy behind Omarchy is clearly evident with the Hyprland config. It hails Neovim as the defacto go to IDE except...DHH opted to NOT use VIM navigation for the WM? that's right. In his infinite wisdom he opted to utilize arrow keys for window navigation as opposed to changing them to the VIM style of HJKL. Why? he's an idiot that's why.
There's a keybind in the hyprland conf to open X/Twitter. I shit you not. Regardless of the fact he loves hyprland he didn't go with Kitty for the terminal but...Alacritty? again it doesn't make sense. If you're going for a rice and theme centric "distro" then wouldn't you go with something that can display images and easily be themed also with it's included theme editor ala Kitty? no...of course not...you'd go with a Terminal that has NONE of those. This further showcases that DHH and Omarchy have NO clue what they're doing.
It has Typora which is bound to super+space and will cost you $15 a month to utilize your super+space keybind. Why he decided THIS bullshit app was needed when you have neovim is beyond me. The fact that this moron NEEDS a SEPARATE program that you PAY for to make your markdowns clearly shows he's lost the plot.
DHH is such a moron that he included SEVERAL shell plugins/addons to essentially mimic zsh or fish without utilizing either of them. It's bloat, pure bloat
Want more bloat? cool you have 4 text editors, 2 PDF viewers, and 3 chat programs.
People online will also lie and claim it sets up encryption for you. it does not. It has 1keepassword and that's it.
It's an absolute cluster fuck of an Arch install. It doesn't even have it's own repos like CachyOS. it DOES NOT improve Arch in any way whatsoever. it's NOT a distro, it's dotfiles. sure it'll take 5minutes to install but it takes another hour+ after that to clean up and REALLY clean up your .config dir. the idiot doesn't even know how to cd to a directory and needed to add an application to do it for him.
I'm sorry but I'm absolutely tired of people shilling this facists "distro" and even calling it a distro. it's dotfiles with many programs that want you to pay. it's not FOSS at all. OH and it's loaded with AI.
I'm sorry but if you use #omarchy you're a fucking idiot.

borked my arch install and I'm not sure how I managed the bork it but I did.
Decided to go back to NixOS cause I'm less likely to break things on it and man i'm so happy I repo'd my config. literally took me all of like 10min to get back up and running again like nothing happened.

If I had a custom LLM that dealt specifically with bullshit Nix Config stuff I would pay money for that.

nevermind it's a NixOS issue...you know I love this distro but sometimes doing simple things is just mind numbingly annoying. like seriously I get it, immutable and all that, but for fucks sake just let me easily install themes without having to do it via the configuration with lines upon lines of code.
Nix, it's OK to sometimes let stuff talk to each other.

you know one of these days (not likely) KDE will actually fix their Download store for global themes/cursors/icons/etc
"Want to install a global theme without unpacking a tar and finding the specific dir they need to go in? well we have that! doesn't work...but we have it!" - KDE Devs.
