well opening up the country to AI is certainly out of touch and reflective of how the global elites are completely delusional.
Labour is still on their Blairism trip, which is just Thatcherism with a happy face, as Obama/Biden is Clinton 2.0 which is Reaganism with a happy face. It's all the same bulshit of convincing working people to support policies that only benefit the rich at their expense. The only thing about the "happy face" is the "left" party here just pretends to be a little less racist than the other guy.
the UK just needs to be broken up, make Wales and Scotland independent, abolish the monarchy and use their wealth to pay reparations to all countries they've enslaved. There's really no saving it and the English are gonna have to face the fact their entire system is broken, they're ruled by nonces. As Orwell said "The rule of the cruel and the Silly" or something like that.

not trying to debate just curious as to what you actually believe, as the idea that Labour is "far left" is genuinely strange to me, take it easy

are you saying Labour isn't neoliberal enough for you?

yeah totally
i could really hair split about "link aggregation" since reddit community centric rather than Tag centric, but get your point, imo it's a bad link aggregator, browsing and archiving related links is horrible, which is why we shouldn't emulate it. anyway
yeah activitypub has "groups" and "aggregation" already in the spec, Mastodon, pleroma etc. all made a conscious decision to never even try to do groups at the very beginning and we're dealing with the consequences ( like it seem mast are now obsessing over non-essential features or the css theme than trying anything new )
but yes we need to think alot more broadly about what we want from social media and not be limited to imitating corporate models
people say silly things like "we can't do that, it's not in the spec" when the spec doesn't matter, the spec is vaporware, there are a million ways for servers in a network to communicate with each other, and a lot of old methods like rss/atom, xmpp or even nntp could be used in new ways ( that almost no fedi servers have built in RSS readers even tho this is *trivial* to code boggles the mind )
I'm a big fan of the Zot protocol developed by Mike who made Hubzilla, Friendica and Streams, i think would agree with everything you said, but I think the weakness of those platform is they lack the front-end sparkle that mast/pleroma/misskey has... Hubzilla but with misskey type interface would be a fucking beast

Totally agree
I mean, what is facebook? Microbloggin + groups
Personally what I'd like to see if something that Approaches Myspace or Tumblr, with personal homepages and music sharing, ya know, *fun* stuff that allows people to express their individuality and find and share media they enjoy, but also full integration into forums. We're not really that far off, Kbin is pretty close, tho i think the "reddit clone" is a similar dead end to a "twitter clone" . . . reddit is just forums, there are a million ways to do forums it doesn't have to look like reddit

anyway my dear Kraut friend, the things you are saying, I've heard them all before, 15 years ago from Boomer Republicans who thought that Obamacare was a socialist takeover of healthcare ( I wish ) See what American PR firms do is they take the stale propaganda that doesn't work in America anymore ( today even conservatives in US cheer the CEO shooter) and they dump it off on euros who think this is fresh and hip and smart, germans in particular are always falling for propaganda, whether it's hitler or "the promise of the EU" or supporting Israel's genocide because that makes you not anti-semitic somehow, you are just lemmings who want to be lied to -- and you're getting mad at me for trying to tell you the truth, so i'm sure you will get your way and german healthcare will be privatized soon and you will go into dept and die of a preventable disease, don't worry it will just take some time be patient. The American insurance agencies are working tirelessly to liquidate your social services, i assure you.

Not what I said, I said that Canada's system is better than the US, which is just objectively true, tho not saying much
> Yeah in the history of man no one can pay or have paid for surgery.
How much do you think getting stitches or cast costs, just for the bill of materials.
In the US some stitches or a cast can easily set you back 5 - 10 thousand dollars without insurance, just a ball park, maybe more
I'm not talking about 'the history of man" i'm talking medical costs within a modern privatized medical system where prices inflate to an absurd degree
From this article https://www.debt.org/medical/hospital-surgery-costs/
"The average per-day hospital cost in the U.S. is $2,883, with California ($4,181) the most expensive, and Mississippi ($1,305) the least. The average hospital stay is 4.6 days, at an average cost of $13,262.
If surgery is involved, hospital costs soar through the roof. Some of the most common surgeries have price tags that top $100,000."
Is that how much is costs in Canada or Germany? I am very good at saving money but I don't just have 100k laying around

Canada is way better than the US try getting a specialist in the US lmao, and if you compare most of Europe to the US yes it's far better by any metric.
It's not so simple as a private vs public thing, like the UK the currupt politicians in both parties run the NHS into the ground to benefit their privatization agenda. So the governmnet runs healtcare into the ground to benefit the private sector and a similar thing has been happening in Canada, the solution isn't just privatize everything,
I don't know what you mean by saving, you cannot possible safe enough money to afford something like a surgery or other major operation, especially in a laisee faire healtchare situation where prices are jacked up on every link in the chain.
I'm not a fan of any kind of governmnet anything, i healtchare system where medical professionals ran the hospitals directly, where patients pooled their resources, i.e. a public institution that was neither government or for profit would be the ideal for me, but in lieu of that universal tax funded healthcare is clearly the best option.
I think you've been influenced by propaganda put out exactly by those private interests. You know who agrees with you ? Joe Biden, Pete Butigieg etc. They all talk about "Choice" in healtcare, yes the choice to either go into debt or die

I don't really agree with this minority/majority assessment 100% of people die, my friend
and if you do not die violently, you're probably going to die of some kind of disease, idk how many types of rare diseases there are, i know there are thousands of types of cancers, new diseases are discovered all the time.
having access to healthcare immediately decreases the likeliness of dying for a time, a private bureaucracy makes healthcare access less efficient, and therefore increases likelihood of dying.
, seriously do you not know what is happening in the United States right now as a direct result of privatized healthcare? It is an absolute nightmare for vast majority of people

the thing about healthcare is you have absolutely no idea how much healthcare you're going to need or how expensive that may be, some people need little, some need much more. It also doesn't have anything to do with "life choices" necessarily, you can live a very healthy and responsible lifestyle and wind up with some rare disease. This is why there needs to be as big of a pool to draw from as possible, and a general public fund everyone contributes to is the best option.

ah, yeah that whole individual responsibility trip, there certainly is something wrong with german education if so many of you fall for this thought terminating cliches
so instead of public healthcare, which i'm sure has problems like everything the state does, but instead of that you want a private system that will make it more expensive for everyone... meaning in order for anyone to afford health care you'll have to pay for insurance, which is a profit seeking middleman who stands between you and your doctor, who will deny you healthcare at every opportunity because that is profitable to do so... and you think that will somehow make things more fair?

idk i can't really relate to that level of small mindedness, like you'd rather fuck yourself and everyone else over because you're a slave to your own resentment... you'd poison your own water supply because people you don't like are drinking it too
