"eMudhra's own root was included in the root stores of Mozilla, Chrome/Microsoft/Apple root programs. Getting in requires passing audits (e.g., WebTrust), complying with the CA/Browser Forum Baseline Requirements, and policy review by each vendor. eMudhra passed all that — and note, none of it catches this bug, because a public key derived from d = 4 is a perfectly valid P-384 curve point. Every structural check passes; you only find it by brute-forcing tiny keys, which nobody does."

One thing your design genuinely does that a debt brake doesn't: it makes the cost visible at the point of use.
An income tax is withheld from a paycheck and largely invisible. A toll is felt every time you drive. A fare is felt every time you ride. A carbon tax shows up at the pump. That's real political feedback, and it's the strongest argument for your position — not that the state can't grow, but that the citizen feels it growing.
That's a meaningful difference, and it's why the version you've arrived at — user fees for excludable goods, land and resource rent for the value public goods create, Pigouvian taxes on externalities, a modest commodity tax for the remainder, no income tax — is a coherent and well-grounded position.
It just needs one addition to actually hold: a binding constitutional constraint on borrowing, because that's the door the spending escapes through when the tax base won't cover it. Revenue design alone won't keep the state small. Revenue design plus a debt brake plus the cultural preference is the only combination with a track record.

2026-09-20 00:34:05 UTC

- reply

This is the best version of your position, and it's worth stating precisely.
Land value tax is self-limiting because the base is fixed. Land rent is what it is; you can't inflate it by changing the rate. George's single tax had a natural ceiling built in.
Commodity taxes are self-limiting because high rates produce smuggling and substitution. The bootlegger caps the rate.
User fees are self-limiting because they have to pass a benefit test. You can't toll a road nobody uses.
Pigouvian taxes are self-limiting because they're supposed to shrink their own base. A carbon tax that works collects less over time.
So there's a structural property here: each revenue source is anchored to something real, and none can be expanded arbitrarily. That's a genuine design advantage over an income tax, which scales with the economy and can be ratcheted by adjusting rates and brackets.

2026-09-20 00:21:37 UTC

Chatting with Maple AI about how to minimize government and rid us of the identity/surveillance, state:
"The payoff for this whole conversation: commodity taxes need no identity
This is the part that ties everything together, and it's the strongest argument for your proposal that I haven't made yet.
An income tax requires knowing who earned what. That's why you get withholding, W-2s, 1099s, FATCA, bank reporting, and the entire identity apparatus we've been discussing for six messages. Income tax is the root of financial surveillance.
A land value tax requires a property registry — it identifies parcels, not people, and land can't flee.
A commodity tax requires neither. You tax the good at the point of extraction, import, or sale. The fuel tax is the perfect example: you buy gasoline and nobody records who you are or where you drove. It's anonymous, it's cheap to administer, and it raises real money.
So your instinct has been directionally right the whole time, and this is the version that actually delivers what you wanted: user fees for excludable goods, land and resource rent for the value public goods create, Pigouvian taxes on externalities, and a modest two-tier commodity tax for the remainder — with no income tax and no identity apparatus.
That's a coherent, historically grounded, theoretically defensible system. It's roughly the Georgist-plus-classical-liberal synthesis, and it's a much better answer than "no taxes, bonds only."
The three honest caveats: it's regressive unless you deliberately design against that; it probably can't fund a large state; and it will require tracking at the border and at large-scale settlement even if the corner shop stays anonymous. But for the specific goal you've been chasing — a state that funds itself without knowing who you are — commodity taxation plus land rent is the closest thing to a real answer."

IDK ... it actually seems fairly obvious to me: once bitcoin is the _best-money / world reserve currency_, then trading bitcoin without a third party seems inevitable/obvious. so your position has to be: it won't achieve this scale/status. Look what is happening right now with Iran: they likely have a massive stack, they mine/hash, and they could soon be trading in bitcoin. I doubt the sanctions / cutting them off from fiat is gonna work. In fact, it could backfire making the use case and the value of bitcoin even higher.

Bitcoin consensus is hard change, by design.
Here is a year-by-year breakdown of Bitcoin’s major consensus changes since 2013.
### 2013
**BIP34 — Height in Coinbase**
*Activated: March 25, 2013 (block 227,931)*
This soft fork required version 2 blocks to include the block height as the first item in the coinbase transaction. It prevented duplicate coinbase transaction IDs, which could cause ambiguity in the UTXO set. It used the older “IsSuperMajority” (ISM) activation method (95% miner signaling).
**The March 2013 LevelDB Incident (Unplanned)**
*Date: March 11, 2013*
Not a planned upgrade, but a major consensus event. Bitcoin Core 0.8.0’s switch from Berkeley DB to LevelDB accidentally removed an undocumented database lock limit. This caused an unplanned hardfork and a chainsplit lasting about 24 blocks. The network temporarily reverted to the 0.7.x rules to re-converge.
---
### 2014
**No major consensus upgrades activated.**
---
### 2015
**BIP66 — Strict DER Signatures**
*Activated: July 4, 2015 (block ~363,725)*
Mandated strict DER encoding for all ECDSA signatures. Before this, nodes relied on OpenSSL’s parsing, which could behave inconsistently across platforms. Its activation caused a brief 6-block chainsplit because some miners were doing “SPV mining” (mining on headers without full validation).
**BIP65 — OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY (CLTV)**
*Activated: December 14, 2015 (block 388,381)*
Added the `OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY` opcode, allowing outputs to be locked until a specific block height or time. This enabled better escrow, time-locked savings, and payment channel designs. It was the last soft fork to use ISM activation.
---
### 2016
**BIP68/112/113 — CSV (CheckSequenceVerify)**
*Activated: July 4, 2016 (block 419,328)*
This bundle introduced relative timelocks:
- **BIP68:** Consensus-enforced sequence numbers for relative locktime.
- **BIP112:** `OP_CHECKSEQUENCEVERIFY`, allowing outputs to be locked for a duration *after* they are confirmed.
- **BIP113:** Measured locktimes against the median-time-past instead of block timestamps.
This was the **first soft fork to use BIP9 versionbits** instead of ISM.
---
### 2017
**BIP141/143/147 — SegWit (Segregated Witness)**
*Activated: August 24, 2017 (block 481,824)*
The most significant upgrade of this era:
- **BIP141:** Moved signature data (“witness”) outside the transaction ID, fixing transaction malleability and effectively increasing block capacity.
- **BIP143:** A new signature hashing algorithm to fix quadratic hashing and improve hardware wallet security.
- **BIP147:** Required the dummy element in `OP_CHECKMULTISIG` to be `OP_0`, removing a minor malleability vector.
Deployment was contentious and involved BIP91 and BIP148 (UASF) pressure before it locked in via BIP9.
### 2021
**BIP340/341/342 — Taproot**
*Activated: November 14, 2021 (block 709,632)*
- **BIP340:** Schnorr signatures (better privacy and efficiency).
- **BIP341:** Taproot, allowing spends to look like single-signature transactions even when using more complex scripts.
- **BIP342:** Tapscript, updating the scripting rules for Taproot.
This used a modified BIP9 mechanism called “Speedy Trial,” requiring 90% signaling over a retarget period.
---------------------
Now imagine the technical rationale and description of BIP-110 here
Come on man....

Where do the *sickos* get all their time/money to set up this elborate attack/system to hide their data? I'm thinking there is not that much to be gained for them longterm in this area. Most (ballparking here, 99.99%?) of humans arent into sicko stuff.
Eventually all nonfinancial data uses get price out. Those that make it - over say 5-10 years - must be providing some value to humans. Doubt sicko data maxis will make it.
