Field Guide to AI Guys
* Elon actively wants AI to kill you.
* Altman doesn't care if AI kills you as long as he gets to Gen AI first.
* Zuck is ok with AI killing you as long as he can monetize it.
* Dario really wishes you would stop him from making an AI that will kill you, but he totally will unless you do.

I wish there was a thesaurus app with a slider that controls intensity. Yes, "adoration" is kind of the word I'm looking for, but knock it back about 45%.

@nprofile…2kk3 Oh, that has happened. I feel like it is my duty as a parent to foster independence, so I resist the impulse to take away opportunities for teenagers to care for themselves. But, I'm also a pushover, so my resolve doesn't last very long.

Question for my #vegan and #sober people:
Camping.
What on earth are we supposed to do to have fun when we go camping? In my past life it was all about day drinking and fishing. My kids want to go camping, but all I can think is we go out into the woods, get eaten by bugs for a bit, ruin our backs sleeping on the ground, and then come home. Surely, this is just a failure of my imagination. I would appreciate any tips, anecdotes, and/or stores about fun being had while camping.

I had no idea the ruffle was considered a Y2K trend. It wasn't super present in my life for at least a decade before that.

Some people like to run to a motivating playlist. I just did my fastest run since last May listening to a podcast of InfoSec guys complaining about the current state of threat/exploit naming. I'm not sure what that says about me.

Can God create a boulder so big that He can't lift it? I don't know. But #Windows can create a file with a name so long that it can't delete it. I encountered this last night when I was creating a filesystem for archiving 2024 stuff. There are a few tutorials online that involve using 'del "\\?\<path to filename>"' in cmd. This does not work. The only thing that I have found that actually does is to mount the desired directory in #Linux and use "rm". #FOSS to the rescue once again!

@nprofile…wm95 Is that really the problem, though? I don't think the issue is data collection. I think the issue is our leaders fear a foreign government using a massively popular propaganda tool to turn their own citizens against them.
We have seen, time after time, that nobody really cares about data collection. Besides, all of our data has already been hacked a dozen time over and is available on the dark web for a reasonable fee. Except, unfortunately, the password to my hotmail account. :(

My household as stopped recycling plastic when we discovered there's a greater than 90% chance that it will end up being dumped in the ocean or burned at it's final destination. Putting it in a landfill is preferable. We do try to limit the use of "disposable" plastic to the extent that we can, but that extent is not very far. 😞
