I almost exclusively talk to normies. I wonder how much of what you observe is. Based on my experiences online with other bitcoiners it sure seems like most are in a bubble. Not unlike much of online culture.
1. Bitcoiners don't talk to many people at all.
2. Bitcoiners don't talk to normies about bitcoin.
3. Bitcoiners live almost exclusively online.

2026-05-08 04:54:09 UTC

The AI companies haven't really started to economize their tooling. They don't need to as long as they have VC money. I think we will see a bubble pop but that will result in cutting a lot of waste. The worst will not survive.
I see a future of hybrid local/remote LLMs. In the future most people will use local AI for day to day things. It sounds crazy but I think Apple will lead the way here.
Heavy AI work will be done in the cloud. But the normies just might use their built in AI bots.
That's my positive view at least. The dystopian view is dark.

It is already changing... but if humans are no longer creating interesting content humans will lose interest in the interface. Humans are the spark. Just as previous tech allowed humans to produce new things humans using LLMs and other forms of AI will continue creating interesting things. I think we will have a lot of crap though. We did before AI. It's just gonna get worse. More noise. But the tools will adapt to finding the gold.
Its a wild ride.

The utopians are the socialists and even the pro democracy crowd. You are correct. Anarchy really isn't an ideology as much as accepting reality. Capitalism without a moral culture is better than any planned economy but it won't make people moral. People fall into the trap you describe for sure but it's niave of them. Bad representation of ideas don't make the ideas bad.
FWIW I think we are a long way from the state falling away but again, people that think it's right around the corner are niave. Likely read one book and new to the ideas.

As much as it pains me... deeply... she is right on with this line of questioning. Here's why Warren is frustrating. Obviously the idea of an independent Fed is a farce. It's not possible. The solution is to NOT have a Fed at all. Treasury can issue paper notes but interest rates should float at market rates. The Fed was created to rig the system and is run by bankers. Trump seems to want to move it to more closely align with Treasury. That's not an insane move and were this an idea Obama pushed Warren would be all in favor of it.

Let me be clear, the majority of this is pretty uncontested. Only a fool would think that a ground war in Iran would be anything but a disaster of death. Only the dishonest Trump supporters would make this case. The part that sounds absurd to me is this.
"The American bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia are among the largest military facilities in the entire world. Trillions of dollars have been spent building these facilities over several decades. We’re talking about the fact that the majority of military spending over the past 30-plus years has gone up in smoke."
I'm not on the ground but I suspect this is overselling the results of Iranian response.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not cheering on the MIC and this disasterous endeavor. But I don't think the world is looking at the US now as weak. I could be wrong but that seems unlikely.
Rash? Yes. Reckless? Yes. Overextended? Possibly. For decades "experts" have said attacking Iran would be risky. Only air strikes has never resulted in the defeat of a power.
The US pull out of Afghanistan is a pretty strong indictment of US failed military policy. Not saying the US is at its peak as many pro Trump people say. This guy seems to be over selling it likely because he opposes the action and partnership with Israeli government

Many misunderstand trust.
"Firm belief in the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing; confidence or reliance."
Is it wise to trust a class of people that have a long track record of lying and deceiving those they claim to work for?
If you wanted to show your son or daughter an example of a person with character would you most likely point to a politician?
Is it wise to rely on a politician for anything important in your life?
You can like what a politician does sometimes but trusting them always seems like a fools errand to me. But that's me.
