one of my favorite flights was back from South Africa in college. 16 hours. 8 hours of duty free indulgence and a solid 8 hour sleep. then the hangover 😂

I see it as a law of averages, really. arsenal are counter-pressing monsters much like Liverpool. with enough field tilt you're bound to knock one in

I've read that perhaps some of the staff didn't understand how to accept LN payments
I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed, given you can pay for goods in USD cash without kyc. maybe @npub1ds3…ncan confirm

Has anyone put out a model that projects out the electricity cost required to mine Bitcoin profitably over time?
Ideally with configurable inputs (price being the main one)
A question I've often had in my head is just how effective some of these mining strategies will be in 5/10/50/100 years.

of course miners selling less bitcoin over time should have *some* effect. the question is, how much?
my argument is that - in the face of bitcoin having 5000%+ to appreciate in price - how that 8% is distributed (and for a % of those, sold) is negligible.

I have a few problems with this line of thinking:
a. it's not lower supply. it's a lower *inflation* (or if you prefer, supply *issuance*) rate
b. assuming that's what you meant, this still ignores the basic math of how much the supply issuance impacts price. see my meme above :)

Bitcoin twitter largely did not appreciate my assertion that halvings (green vertical lines) have effectively *zero* impact on price, and instead, people are conflating the halving bull runs with global balance sheet (orange line) bull runs.
What do you got, Nostr?
PS I say this, knowing full well:
a. the halving is a fun meme
b. the fed is reversing course just in time for the halving believers to (falsely, imo) claim victory

Ashamed to admit I took a social media (Nostr included) hiatus and am incredibly far behind 🙈

we have customers manually enter account/routing numbers

2023-04-11 19:45:27 UTC

Here at Swan, we've made it nearly 3 years without having our customers use Plaid to connect their bank account.
We're considering finally turning it on. While I hate the idea of helping a surveillance company get even more data, the reality is that reversal fraud is a plague on Bitcoin companies, and Plaid will help Swan to better manage the risk.
Of course, we'll continue to allow connecting manually via routing/acct #s.
Can anyone talk me out of launching with Plaid?

And if so, I can't help but think that centralized platforms will outcompete a decentralized protocol (in terms of funding, features, and so on).
And I can't decide if this is a major problem or not.

2023-02-27 14:54:57 UTC

Can someone help my pea brain understand the fundamental difference between nostr and TBD's DID architecture?
In my head, the latter uses decentralized identities with centralized platforms, whereas the former is decentralized all the way down.
Is that right?
