Every time I read an article about quantum computing and how they work or what the application will be, I start hearing a buzzing sound in my head and the dialog from the TV show “Patriot”:
Using a field of half-C sprats, and brass-fitted nickel slits, our bracketed caps and splay-flexed brace columns vent dampers to dampening hatch depths of one-half meter from the damper crown to the spurve plinths. How? Well, we bolster twelve husked nuts to each girdle-jerry, while flex tandems press a task apparatus of ten vertically composited patch-hamplers. Then, pin flam-fastened pan traps at both maiden-apexes of the jim-joist

I’m reading an article how the name and branding of “Arrowhead Stadium” and “GEHA Field” will be changed during the World Cup, per FIFA contract rules. It’ll just be called “Kansas City Stadium”.
So digital maps, Siri, and other voice assistants, along with state signage that points the way to Arrowhead will be “wrong”. International visitors will see “Kansas City Stadium” on tickets and other printed media, but goods luck asking your phone to drive you there.
I just asked Siri to “take me to Kansas City Stadium” and she routed me to Sporting KC soccer stadium in KCK, not Arrowhead in KCMO. #WorldCup2026 #2026WorldCup

So #today I bought a new nose trimmer and yes, I’m officially old and boring. But that little baby is a game-changer let me tell you. #GenX

I pulled money out of one of my retirement accounts to make rent and expenses in December. I’m still looking for contract or full-time UX/software design work. I’m also an experienced graphic designer. Currently developing my own iOS apps to gain experience. #FediHire #fediwork

Until they force my eyes open Clockwork Orange-style, I’ll be over here boycotting corporate media that bow to fascists.

I really hate that I now have to check LinkedIn multiple times a day for messages and job postings. A good friend of mine tells me I need to post often to be seen.
I struggle with his advice because much of the LinkedIn “content” is so performative. I don’t seek to be an “influencer” or “thought leader”—I just want a job.

Oh, wow. I was just laid off. I held the position of Software Designer, but I did so much more. I revamped our main website, our intranet, a wiki site for a knowledge base, trained two chatbots on support documents and “vibe coded” a new web app all since January 2025 for this company.
I got a new development manager boss in June and things started changing, but I never thought they'd eliminate a position just to push me out.
Anyone need a “jack of all trades" kind of employee with a background in agriculture. I'm a UX designer, not a full stack dev.

I have a small collection of old Macs—a G4 iMac, two Macintosh Portables, and a clamshell iBook. Only the iMac and iBook boot.
This iMac was given to me out of a local tech college’s storeroom. No mouse, keyboard or even power cord.
Today I finally bought the matching translucent keyboard, mouse, and Harmon Kardon speakers off eBay. #marchintosh
I never owned this model in realtime. I had an SE/30, then some godawful PowerBook and jumped later to the first Intel MBP. I missed iOS 8, 9 and early OS X versions while wandering in the wilderness.

I was recently listening to a podcast and the host was negatively comparing the EU’s lower productivity measure relative to the United States.
And I thought, “tell me how this is a bad thing?” Europeans enjoy a high standard of living, have universal health care, and take WEEKS AND WEEKS of vacation.
We in the U.S., should be envious and striving to reach such a level of (un)productivity!

Our best young programmer is packing to move to Mexico because she’s a Dreamer and going to be kicked out. She has never lived anywhere else but Southwest, KS.
She’s the perfect example of the “American Dream”. Her parents are immigrants, here originally to work in one of the meat packing plants. She got a high school and community college education and is a self-taught programmer. In one generation she’s a salaried professional programmer. She leads a team now.
If this country isn’t for her, then everything else in the immigration debate is just racism.

I’m going to point out the obvious. State legislators have to be the most technically ignorant adults alive. Any teen curious enough about computers and porn knows about free TOR browsers on the App Store.
