And there you have it, the final step of bitcoin derangement syndrome, the final fork off and altcoin. Enjoy your bcashjr coin.

My heart goes out to all those affected by the cold card compromise. Hopefully we can get covenants activated on bitcoin for better reactive security in the future.

For those that weren't around in 2017 like I was, I can absolutely tell you, mechanic was nowhere to be found in 2017, despite him trying to rewrite its history today on X.

So get this...
Apparently all the Knots people don't understand that Knots is just Luke's personal project that he unilaterally pushes changes to whenever he feels like with no public community review whatsoever.
I believe in multiple implementations and running whatever you want but...
Knots is NOT safe IMO and I'd never trust it with my coins.

Once again Core is one of the most transparent FOSS projects on the planet so you don't have to take my word for it. If you don't agree with this then that's your problem.

2026-01-31 23:33:51 UTC

- reply

There are no leaders, those maintainers didn't get magically anointed they proved their worth and were selected by the entire Core team like pretty much every other FOSS project, you clearly have no idea how Core's development process even works. Like I said, go back to basics before buying into psyops.

Once again whether it's what Citrea "needed" or not it's what the reality of the network demanded and that's the point, the change is harm reduction to prevent large miners from gaining an advantage, not "sanctioning spam" and certainly not "gaslighting everyone".

2026-01-31 19:14:11 UTC

- reply

LOL Core is a decentralized group of developers that have no affiliation or contact with Citrea and these ridiculous conspiracy theories type of FUD helps nobody.

The chances are simply higher when using peer-reviewed software vs non peer-reviewed software. They literally can't even hire another dev for Knots despite their best efforts, but nobody wants to work on it 😕

2025-06-19 15:00:08 UTC

- reply

No. They only have a monopoly on excellence which is why everyone wants to voluntarily run their software. You can't have a monopoly on voluntarism.
A natural monopoly implies network lockin or switching costs and bitcoin has neither, there are no economic, technical, or legal barriers stopping anyone from forking Core, running Knots, or building fresh clients.
Voluntary preference is not market capture, do you understand this yet?

2025-06-19 02:15:47 UTC

- reply

No. This misunderstands bitcoin's design because consensus is defined by the network, not the client. Core's code reflects consensus rules but doesn't dictate them.

2025-06-18 19:32:10 UTC

I don't know who needs to hear this but Core is not a monopoly . You can't have a monopoly on open source software that people voluntarily choose to run.

I mean I guess go for it if you think running an inferior implementation of something is going to make any material change.

2025-06-13 02:29:16 UTC

- reply

The code is open source just like Core, so I've looked into it just to see how many people actually contribute, and it's only Luke. Core devs may have checked out the github but that's quite different from seriously reviewing code.
The conclusion is to run the software that is the most robust, and that is Core.

2025-06-12 19:50:03 UTC

> So it's like having all them plus Luke work on Knots
No. This is what I'm trying to tell you, when it comes to engineering, anytime you're modifying someone else's code without those people reviewing it, bad things can happen. And luke has added ALOT of code over the years.
> Let's be honest though, I bet many core developers read the knots github
Not a single core dev I've ever talked to has looked at Knots code, ever, because that's additional work that they don't want to deal with. Working on 1 FOSS project is hard enough because it's hard work with little to no pay, let alone trying to review others.

2025-06-12 14:27:54 UTC

- reply

It's kind of nuanced cause like yes Luke does import changes from Core that were reviewed by Core, but they were reviewed by Core in Core, not in Knots, so once that code enters Knots it's an entirely new implementation that literally only Luke updates.

> I simply think contentious code changes and spam are bad for bitcoin.
Contentious is subjective.
> And of course you can force things on people,
Not in bitcoin.
> bitcoin isn't some utopia
No it's just software you can voluntarily run, or not.
> if blocks have child porn
Then there's no more you can do about it then remove it from TOR, which you can't. This is what decentralized censorship-resistant means, it means it is not only money for you, but money for your enemies.
> ETH 2.0
I can tell you're not a dev, bitcoin and eth have almost nothing in common, there is no EVM on bitcoin, there will never be first class tokens on bitcoin, there will always be POW in bitcoin.
> Dude the fact that you don't even prioritize bitcoin as money
Of course I do, hence why I'm for the CTV upgrade. I also technically understand that bitcoin is, in other words it will be whatever it will be, I have no control over that.
> Seriously why don't you just go be an ETH bro?
Because eth is trash.
> If youre so sold on putting all kinds of scripts and garbage on bitcoin
No there's already scripts and garbage on it, I'm simply advocating to make the scripts more efficient in order to make bitcoin a better money.
It seems you have ALOT of research to do and simply buy into simple narratives on social media. Maybe learn to code so you don't have to trust clueless clowns?

What? No there's only one maintainer which is Luke who force pushes his changes straight to master with 0 review.

Don't worry the hype will wear down and people will run software that is not maintained by a single person, that's the real joke, is that people are running knots at all. Best of luck.

CTV has nothing to do with jpgs, but you can keep your garbage software that luke pushes straight to master with zero other contributors.
Oh, and is this what you mean by "exploding"?

Long before the terms "crypto bros" or "suit coiners" were coined (pre-ICO/DEFI/NFT/MSTR) there were real bitcoiners telling you to only buy bitcoin.
Bitcoin has since grown immensely but the real ones are easy to spot, they'll still only ever recommend you buy bitcoin.

Wow really seems like the fixthefilter people are the next bcashers. Using nearly the exact same playbook. Looking forward to their follow up book after "Hijacking Bitcoin" called "Spamming Bitcoin". Maybe we'll even get an airdrop but they likely don't have the balls to fork off like Ver did.

When you use bitcoin-only products and services you strengthen the network.
When you use altcoin products and services, you weaken it.

In theory if something like nostr were to reach scale it could de-fund corrupt social media companies and strip them of their power they use to cancel otherwise law-abiding citizens.
