it’s a metaphor, an analogy, but it’s not a synonym.

you’re straw-manning. Who does what you’re complaining about? Old people being bad with tech is a stereotype but it’s not a synonym. I don’t see people using it as a synonym.

What a wonderful world.
"After a three-week trial, a jury found eight of nine protesters guilty of “providing material support to terrorists”, among other crimes. For the Sotos, this “material support” included owning a “printing press” used to print anarchist zines and being part of a leftist book club, the federal government argued. The couple had already left the scene by the time guns were drawn. All eight of the defendants sentenced so far have received unusually harsh sentences – 30 to 100 years – essentially life in prison."

This is so bizarre. How exactly would they determine who the “heritage anglophones” are? Do the students have to show evidence that grandma spoke only English or something?

It’s so apt and yet weird that it’s called #eurovision
Because every day all year is “Eurovision”. We live in a world civilization largely molded (violently) according to a European vision. That’s what’s playing on media players 24/7 anyway. And then every year the whole world has to watch the even more solipsistic exercise of whiteys gazing even harder at their own navels, or asses or whatever.

Today ICE agents stopped a vehicle on the street that goes by my kid’s school. They detained somebody from the vehicle and just left it there blocking traffic. These goons just DNGAF. Luckily they were not there to raid the school, but kids outside for PE were concerned. #fuckice #tucson

It's so crazy and remarkable that data centers are now measured in Gigawatts of electricity they use. What other infrastructure or industrial equipment is measured in terms of how much it consumes, rather than how much it produces? Imagine if breweries were sized by the weight of the hops they used rather than the gallons of finished beer.

“Our best friends in the world—senators I know as strong supporters of Israel—have warned that they cannot support us if images of mass starvation emerge," he said. “They come to me and say, ‘We’ll give you all the help you need to win the war… but we can’t be receiving pictures of famine,’” Netanyahu added. To continue the war of annihilation, he asserted, “We need to do it in a way that they won't stop us.”

Hey Mastomusicians and FediSoundArtists! I make little electronic gadgets and lately I've been making and selling contact mics built into a variety of different salvaged product package tins. They include built-in circuitry that act as pre-amp, compressor, and noise filter. This one is tucked into a tin that used to hold cannibis-infused chocolate-covered espresso beans.

I think the religious right is only reluctantly along for the MAGA ride... They'd much rather have a true believer, they know Trump is not religious, he's just a useful fool for them. So as soon as he's gone, yes, they'll try to replace him with somebody more from their community, but the other kinda alt-right young wackados that form the other part of the MAGA base will not be likely to come along on that ride. IMHO. the coaltion will fracture. It will be messy and terrible but preferable to Trump.

I don't know, I think Trump is pretty unique. There's a cult of personality that goes beyond the GOP, and I don't know if anyone else could just take up the Trump/MAGA torch and run with it and have nearly as much success as this really weird entertainer charlatan who is The Donald. I agree that him dying violently probably would have touched off a really ugly violent time. But if he just had a heart attack in his sleep and they tried to replace him with .... who? DeSantis? Wouldnt work. Vance? meh.
