Yay! A person came around to install the internet tubes at the new place yesterday, and I am once again traveling the information superhighway.

Does anybody have any good resources on establishing a business as a co-op in Colorado (USA)? I'm thinking we might want to consult a professional, so recommendations there are appreciated, as are pointers to any helpful info.
Boosts welcome.

Big thanks to @nprofile…s6xg for including some Skin Contact stuff in the recent Faircamp-themed episode of the Fadimat 105 radio show! Also includes a discussion with Faircamp dev Simon Repp ( @nprofile…9kds ), and a bunch of music from other Faircamp users.

I'm really glad I caught the first episode of NHAM Sound Table on @nprofile…p0c4 , and not just because they said nice things about my music (though of course that was good too). Thanks to @nprofile…crz5 , @nprofile…72cy , @nprofile…8ama , and @nprofile…fekr for the kind words and the cool show. :)
If you missed it, here's a link to the video, which also includes new/recent stuff from @nprofile…armw , @nprofile…ut4e , and @nprofile…0svf .

New sample pack: Blue fidget box
Here's the samples from that fidget/noisemaker toy I posted about a while ago. Mostly percussive-type stuff, but also includes some handling noises that might be useful for foley, background noise, or as the basis for something new.
The first actual release under the Anti-Capitalist Soundware License, but I have also re-uploaded the older stuff with updated txt files including it.

The Anti-Capitalist Soundware License is live:

Big thanks to the original ACSL and its authors, as this is heavily based on that work.
The license itself is released into the Public Domain, please consider it collectively yours.

I seem to have picked up a few follows by talking about how much the music industry sucks, and I'm guessing that means that at least some of you would be interested in alternative methods of finding & hearing cool stuff:
@nprofile…2fqe - brand-new independent live stream of indie music videos and animation
@nprofile…k0wc - kinda the same as above, but radio
@nprofile…aalr - moar awesome radio
@nprofile…0jfq - does a weekly review thing called Other People's Music, also makes cool music

I see some musicians going all "Metallica vs. Napster" about the Anna's Archive thing, and I feel the need to remind folks that corporations and the music industry have done more to ruin things for us than piracy ever could.

@nprofile…kgl2 it reminds me of my favorite kinds of film soundtracks (by which I mean the ones with lots of cool synth sounds).

Proposing an Anti-Capitalist Soundware License
Based heavily on the Anti-Capitalist Software License, maintained by @nprofile…rvyu & @nprofile…y9ge . This is far outside my expertise, so I'm looking for feedback & suggestions (feel free to DM if you prefer that). My initial modification and more info here:

I have updated the article on the FSA website about moving to Linux from Windows for music production, in light of some things that have changed since publication, and some things I missed or forgot.

@nprofile…0jfq thought I'd let you know that this article helped push me over the edge into getting one of these. I've been hesitating because it means putting off getting some parts I need for some DIY stuff, and I probably have most of what it can do covered with software, but it sounds like the kind of thing that has the right combination of features & limitations to inspire stuff one might not come up with otherwise. Plus the CV/gate outs will play nicely with the DIY stuff later. :)

@nprofile…l9v9 I think (at least for most cases, and assuming there's still an equivalent 4.0 version*) you can just upgrade it. I don't see anything that would make it incompatible with AGPLv3+, but I'm not expert enough in the relevant areas to say that 100%.
* For example, there's no 4.0 equivalent to the older Sampling+ license for music.

@nprofile…l9v9 In case either @nprofile…u2cz or @nprofile…8etu haven't submitted because they're worried that they won't belong, I'm pretty sure most of us bonkwavers are doing this because that's how we felt pretty much everywhere else. I could be wrong, but the whole thing did arise from a joke about being unsure what specific sub-genre your music might be.

@nprofile…l9v9 I seem to have misplaced mine as well, but I gather from @nprofile…qppm 's recent writeup that things are in the works. :)

My Faircamp site has been updated to the latest version (1.0). This also fixes some issues that were present in my last build (which, to be clear, were due to mistakes on my end, not problems with Faircamp).
As always, monetary support is very much appreciated, but not required.

I boost a lot of stuff, mostly music, art, & nerd stuff. Deleted my other account because spoons are in short supply these days. You can find schematics, sample packs, and other audio/music-related stuff on my website:

I posted my thoughts on the Tascam DR-40X portable recorder after owning one for a couple of years.
tl;dr: It does the thing. I have no regrets, but the preamps are a little noisy, so if you intend to use other mics a lot, probably consider something else.

Mastodon isn't perfect, but one of the first things I saw here today was some musicians talking about helping each other with promotion, and that's the kind of thing that makes me think I'm in the right place.
Community, not competition. I often suck at being part of things, but fuck competition.
