I don’t blame the Europeans at all for being anti American.
It’s a safe outlet for them to be nationalistic. Whereas even flying their own flag will often get them in trouble.
As an obnoxious American I can say we’re more than happy to be your punching bag for the time being.

Built some 3D printed speakers and they actually sound really fucking good. The tweeter and woofer are from SB acoustics. Enclosure and crossover board are 3D printed. Total cost for the project about $350 but they sound like they cost $2,000. Honestly super impressed.

I always tell my kids if you want to be popular and well liked you should just go around letting others know that you genuinely like them and mean it.
People like the people who like them.
Seemingly a vast majority of adults either don’t understand this concept or genuinely don’t like that many other people.

As a relatively tall guy the height discourse seems like a recent social phenomenon. I don’t remember getting extra brownie points when I was young and single for being tall. Although maybe I was and just totally oblivious to it. Granted women like men who are taller than them, but that’s just basic sexual dimorphism. The arbitrary quality of 180 or 6 feet feels recent and driven entirely by dating apps.

You should be suspicious of people who want to be in a position of leadership. Leadership should happen naturally as a result of group nomination and reluctant acceptance.
There are many people who believe being in charge is about exerting your will on others. When in reality leadership is a burden of carrying and balancing everyone else’s desires in an effort to make everyone under your stewardship content. If you ever meet a person pining for power thinking he or she should be in charge, that person will be actively harmful in any leadership role you or the group may be dumb enough to put them in.
Good leaders are competent and capable and they are selected on that basis. Not because they want to be chief bossy person in charge. That’s just some petty tyrant. Know the difference.

URGENT: I’ve seen some people saying that they are on vacation and won’t be able to check their coldcard for days until they get back.
If you have one of the affected coldcards and can’t get back in time please call a trusted person, have them go to where your device is stored and walk them through the procedure to transfer funds over FaceTime.
Normally this would be horrible advice but under these circumstances I think it has the potential to save someone’s coins.
Attacks are increasing not decreasing and attackers are starting to crack through the affected mk3’s with pass phrases. There are even credible reports of mk4’s with pass phrases being hit.
If you are in this specific situation, throw the regular rules out the window and do what you must in order to save your coins. DONT WAIT.

Personally I don’t believe other OG’s when they say they have reached a state of bitcoin zen.
1. Because OG’s talk and I hear stories privately of people freaking out about price action.
2. Because I myself am still deeply uncomfortable most of the time in my Hodl position.
I find it kind of dishonest. My favorite Bitcoiner’s are the ones who say some version of “yes it sucks, it always sucks. Life’s not supposed to be easy. Stop being a pussy.”
That’s the honest version.

The docking scene from interstellar is a perfect encapsulation of how I expect humans and A.I.’s aka robots to work together. CASE and TARS are hyper intelligent mission specialists, crucial to the success of the mission, but they don’t have the instincts of cooper.
So when cooper begins the docking sequence on pure adrenaline. CASE tells him it’s impossible and he shouldn’t waste fuel. He’s trying to keep the humans alive for longer, but cooper knows if they don’t risk it all right here, right now they’re dead and so is everyone back on earth.
“It’s impossible” CASE says, “No. It’s necessary” Cooper replies.
Once the human instinct to survive kicks into high gear the human processing speed is deep and instant, the robots though smarter than Cooper can not compete with his millions of years of instincts honed under the most intense evolutionary pressures. Cooper is optimizing for the right goal.
They race towards the ship and now CASE and TARS help initiate and pull off the calculations and mechanics for the spin move docking sequence in real time something cooper could not do on this own. Brandt passes out from the G force as the robots race to complete the task. Cooper even tells TARS to take over if he passes out. Eventually they dock and take back control of the ship.
But without the delicate symphony between human and robot intelligence extending, leveraging and coordinating with one another everyone dies.
It’s an amazing sequence and a reminder that we shouldn’t worry about our new robot buddies, because they will help us do great things. Who we should worry about are the creepy gatekeepers attempting to stifle what we are allowed to do with them.

A very practical reason I found to believe in God again is that by having faith I am free not to worry about myself any longer. God is in charge, not I.
Which frees me up to protect so many more things than just myself. Which gives me a feeling of deep meaning and purpose. Because living for yourself is a miserable existence.
This is what Kierkegaard called the “leap of faith”. If the ultimate outcome isn’t on your shoulders, you’re freed to act with a kind of boldness and generosity that pure self-reliance can make difficult.
For me this experience of surrendering reveals something real about how life works best. Some would push back and say you don’t need God specifically for that reorientation.
That secular commitments to others, to justice, to creative work can achieve a similar outward turn. But Dostoevsky, argued that without a transcendent grounding, those commitments eventually lose their anchor.
I think we’ve seen in our modern world that he was right and so back to Christ I go.

When bitcoin pumps it feels like:
- being in an apple store in 2007
- eating a box of orange tic tacs
- renting an n64 game from blockbuster
- flipping your pillow to the cool side
- beating halo 2 on legendary
- the cubs winning the World Series
- seeing the dark knight in theaters
When it dumps it feels like:
- trying to itch your eye but you accidentally scratch it
- having to pay taxes
- stepping in a wet spot on the floor in socks
- getting a paper cut
- when the ketchup squirts water before the ketchup
- that one mosquito bite right on your knuckle
- that one hair that keeps tickling your arm but you can’t find it

Some thoughts after yesterday’s events.
After Venezuela and Iran it’s become clear to me that BRICS is dead, the lesson to all who ally with china is this… not only will the Chinese sell you garbage defense tech that the Americans military obviate in seconds, but they will also let you twist in the wind as America comes in and steals your presidente or kills your command structure in minutes.
Who the fuck wants to ally with that? When the Americans are also willing to pay you to join them? Only the retarded and criminally insane.
The multipolar world is a fiction. America is the superpower. I’m not even sure china can take Taiwan. If you’re a Chinese military strategist you have to be shitting bricks right now.

This is the Nancy Grace Roman space telescope.
It’s going to launch in September.
It cost 4 billion dollars.
It has advanced wide-field imaging capabilities and NASA is bullish it will deepen humanities understanding of the universe.
The lead designer is an online bitcoin friend of mine Bert Pasquale.
Like most of us Bert believes bitcoin is going to be worth millions per coin.
But please tell me more about how your uncle who works at the car dealership thinks bitcoin is definitely headed to zero any day now.

Here’s what I think is going on. The great rotation.
The thing you have to understand is that this chart is completely unpalatable to the powers that be. They want companies, etfs and governments to be the majority shareholders. It is not acceptable that individuals continue to hold so much coin. They will do everything they can to pry the coins from you.
Your job is not to let them.

The choice is obvious.

Everyone has their own take on the block size war. I was there. Watching as a noob. My take has always been that this was at its core a philosophical fight.
Yes there was skullduggery and subterfuge. Yes the battlefield was over a technical parameter. Yes there was fraud and backroom dealing. All that’s true.
But what everyone was really fighting about was the chicken/egg problem that is bootstrapping a new global currency.
Gold was monetized in pre history so we have no record of how it transpired, fiat is literally decreed by governments so that doesn’t help us understand reality any better either.
Basically money has three functions. Store of value, medium of exchange and unit of account. Everyone knew that unit of account came last. The ideological divide was over which of the others came first.
Big blockers believed that medium of exchange unequivocally came first, small blockers believed store of value did and the block size became the flashpoint because it was a lever you could use to enforce your view.
I rarely talk about the block size war because I was brand new to bitcoin. It happened during my first two years and I spent most of it confused. Flipping back and forth from side to side. Thus I have a pretty good vantage point on both sides arguments and motivations.
What eventually snapped into focus for me wasn’t who was “right” on the forums, but what each side was actually optimizing for.
Big blockers were optimizing for use now. They feared ossification, irrelevance, and a future where Bitcoin was technically elegant but socially dead. If people couldn’t use it as money today, it would never get the chance to become money tomorrow.
Small blockers were optimizing for survival. They feared capture, centralization, and a future where Bitcoin worked… until it didn’t, because it had quietly turned into something that required permission, scale, and trust. If Bitcoin couldn’t be a credible store of value first, nothing else mattered.
You also have to remember at the time the small blockers were the rag tag band of outsiders, which is why it’s funny now when u hear people talk about it in conspiracy terms like a takeover of bitcoin. All of the corporate/legal/financial power was on the big block side.
From the outside it looked like a war over an esoteric technical parameter. From the inside it was a war over what Bitcoin was allowed to become.
In hindsight, the block size war wasn’t a failure of discourse or coordination. It wasn’t about one side being evil and one side being good (though I have my own thoughts on that) it was the cost of discovering what Bitcoin actually is.
And like most growing pains, it only makes sense once you’re on the other side of it.

I’m either one of the new wealthy elite or an idiot who rode bitcoin to zero.
There is no in between.

When you look at the various mal incentives to lie about population it makes a lot of sense.

I’m not often proud of myself or self satisfied in anyway, but one thing I am proud of is my fundamental American-ness.
When people are like you’re an arrogant American I’m like “yes. Yes I am.”
It actually makes me happy when they say that lol
I am American to my core. I was raised on American principles by my father and grandfather who were both good Americans themselves.
I’m not confused about what America is. I’m not confused about what an American is or what it means to be one.
I have no real desire to learn much about my Irish or German roots.
I have no desire to travel outside of America. I mean I have and I will if necessary but like why? You know?
I love America. I’m a part of America. I want the best for America. I believe America is worth fighting for.
My daughter asked me what it means to be an American and I told her it means you can do whatever the fuck you feel like as long as you’re not harming another person.
That’s America.
Freedom. Something no one can ever take away from you. No matter what some dweeb in Washington tells you.
America is unruly. It’s restless. It’s chaotic. It’s beautiful. Like shockingly breathtakingly beautiful.
Reverence for personal liberty. Suspicion of the government. Fear of regulation. Fear of other people’s good intentions. Comfort with disorder over control. America motherfucker.
Loud brash chaotic hypocritical argumentative unruly contradictory half finished…
I’m proud to be an American.

3 truths
1. We’re lucky to be alive right now
2. You can just do things
3. “In reading and understanding history, again and again it is apparent to me that so much of how the world becomes hinges upon the small and serendipitous, or coincidental and tragic actions of just a few men who recognize the zeitgeist of the times.” - @nprofile…mvcq
