Fun fact after my first month as student in Computer Science at the university.
Twenty-some years ago, in my apprenticeship as computer specialist, our teacher told us (very optimistically):
«You don't really need to learn IPv4 anymore. It's obsolete. Focus on IPv6.»
Last week our professor in the «Networks» course told us the exact opposite:
«You have to learn IPv4. It's still the standard. IPv6? A superficial look is enough.»
What does this tell us about IPv6 adoption? 😉
Sidenote: Swisscom actually just switched on IPv6 on its mobile network! https://www.swisscom.ch/en/residential/help/mobile/ipv6.html

I need a new laptop (and your help).
I recently lost my «Framework Laptop 13» (Intel 12th Gen i7, 64GB RAM) on the train. It never reappeared, although it was left in a train heading for the depot. (Was it stolen by the cleaning personal?)
Now I need a new device.
I'm not really keen on getting another Framework device because of their «Big Tent» approach (and supporting far-right activists without regretting it), even though they have really nice hardware. Looking at you, @npub15f7…m7wr.
The new device should have about the same specs as the old one: a recent CPU, at least 64 GB of memory, be around the same size and weight as the «Framework 13», be easily repairable and upgradable. It will run Fedora. An open firmware would be a plus.
Is there anything out like this?
I'm thinking about getting a Tuxedo laptop (@npub1sfg…fqh4), but I’m not entirely sure if it's the best fit. Does anyone have suggestions for a device that meets these criteria.
What are your suggestions? Thanks for any hints.

It took me 5 minutes to replace the mainboard of my Framework Laptop 13.
5 minutes!
Wow.
Thank you @npub15f7…m7wr for your devices and initiative.
In fact, all computer devices should be so easy to repair.
