Genuinely the best physical game work I've seen in a long time. Escalatrónico7000 was playable as part of the GLITCH Collective showcase at @sagabcngamefest.bsky.social@bsky.brid.gy - tactile, poignant, and fascinating. Endless conversation about the little climber friend.

I honestly have never considered switching from Google Pixel phones until they sent me a "wanna celebrate destroying the lives of trans people" as a system update.

"You're absolutely right, there was indeed another commercial jet on the runway. That's my fault, I should have checked before assuming that runway was clear to land on.
Since the runway is now closed, let me know if I can help with anything else. Do you know how runway numbers are selected?"

Our games industry is people. Our studios are people. Our teams people, our games by people for people. Our games are made by people, in groups of people, in teams of people, making people things for people.
The magic is people, and the people deserve so much better than all this. I am so sorry.

I dunno, I think it's fair. It's a little mean, but AI can easily be interpreted as the largest threat facing humanity right now. If a maintainer wants AI to stay the fuck away, it's very clear that asking nicely won't do shit. This will work.

The fact that "being taxed on a wealth that would take most people dozens of generations to gather" is "the scariest thing she's ever seen" means the world isn't scaring millionaires and billionaires nearly enough yet.

So Israel literally just imposed an apartheid execution law - if an Israeli commits murder in the West Bank, they get a medal after being performatively told that that might've been a bit much. If a Palestinian defends themselves in the West Bank and an Israeli is killed, they are hanged.

A good reminder of why process matters: for my first flights of the year, I flew to Calais/Dunkirk. The flight out was gorgeous, but on startup for the return leg I noticed the checklist left brake test failed. Now struggling my way back home by taxi and train, but glad I noticed and did no fly.

Okay so let me get this straight, a oligarch country that elected a suspected pedophile & known rapist over his Christian values, and an illegally nuclear genocidal apartheid nation that keeps electing war criminals to do war crimes, those are the good guys because they bombed a primary girls school

I got a great question on my Ramadan thread: do Muslims also need to avoid consumption by proxy in videogames? Does consuming in-game food or drink break the fast? Basically: does your character have to go fast?
The answer is no, unless you happen to be playing Sonic the Hedgehog.

Ah, I just read that the ICE terrorists even pulled the Israeli tactic of prohibiting official medical aid from reaching their victim. They didn't quite massacre the ambulance like Israel often does, but the effect is similar: ensure the injuries they cause mean death or permanent maiming.

"send back the things we gave to the genociders to commit war crimes against you so we can safeguard ourselves" is so peak USA-Israel that no satire would be able to get away with it

Appreciate any US event that is inviting me to speak. I'm grateful that there's such a demand for my perspective & talks - but I really cannot justify traveling to a country under a fascist government actively hunting people like myself, & sending them to prisons built for people that look like me.

I will entirely skipping @eurovision.tv again for its unacceptable shameless political choice to platform a violent, terrorist, genocidal Israel.
You should too, even if Eurovision is "fun" or "massive for engagement" - the EBU is choosing to ignore genocide. Don't be like or support the EBU.

Don't let anyone complicit in genocide speak a single sentence without interrupting it. They must never escape it, just like they work to ensure not a single Palestinian escapes alive.

I have shared this story, this thread, before - but I think given the state of the world, it's worth telling once again. Maybe it can help, especially if like me, you make art, and you wonder what the use of all of it is right now.

2025-03-13 00:11:07 UTC

Over my career, I've seen the power of games, of play, of art, of joy. They manifest spontaneously, everywhere, always. They're encoded into our being, into our humanity, and no matter how bad things get, art galvanizes, play reinvigorates, joy motivates - it just happens.
