I've had a little (and literal) :first-child side project brewing, and it has completely wiped me out the last 2 weeks. 🤰🏼
We are excited, and I will probably be more excited when I don't feel like I've been taken over by Venom, demanding I eat ALL the time.
I'm exhausted and our first appointment is next week. 💗

Found my name and my book in the LibGen database. Three fucking years of my life I poured into that book for it to be scraped by Meta and used to train AI. I am fucking furious.

The anxiety of working for a fully remote company and waking up and not being able to access chat or mail 😅

@nprofile…tg6x Of me asking? Or ShadowRealms?

Are you a developer who has a browser use-case for ShadowRealms?
Does it solve a specific need for you that current technology (iframes) can't?
If you answered yes and can share these with me, let's chat. (DMs are open). Please repost for visibility/reach.

This has been rolling around my brain for a few months so I am happy to finally share my latest blog post ✨
You can pay for that: How web browser features get built

The tech community can be so toxic and snide and perpetuates the same nonsense arguments about unimportant things.
It takes just as much time to do a little research before you repost something with your own commentary.
Less rage bait. More community building.

Does anyone who uses Thunderbird know if there's a way to get event invites to show up automatically before accepting/declining on your calendar?

Legit this is such a big milestone for Servo! The team at Igalia has been working hard on this.

In the last two weeks I started the ACOTAR (A Court of Thorns and Roses) series and have so wholly been swept up in the story and characters in a way I haven't felt since reading Outlander and Wheel of Time.
It is not everyone's cup of tea in regards to genre but I had so missed that feeling when reading a series.
If I was 13 years old, I'd be making Livejournal icons and perusing the LJ communities. It's a little bit of a nostalgic thing for me. It reminds me of my early internet days.

Are you an XR developer or enthusiast? We need your help to identify major paint points and shape the future of XR device interoperability.
The XR Device Interoperability Group in the Metaverse Standards Forum (I'm a Co-Chair) is running a survey to identify current issues with API stack interoperability/experience portability.
You can take the survey here: https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=8o_uD7KjGECcdTodVZH-3Py9z7HkBDtKmCknfe76851UOEZFM1NZRlcxNThHWDNIUUJIWUJDWk9YOC4u

Blogs are still a thing, and blogs have always been a thing. They didn't go anywhere. My technical blog is thriving.
People come back to old posts constantly.
Something I posted 10 months ago is still my top performing post. Social media posts are ephemeral & if something happens to your content - it's gone.
Host your own blog, control your content. My social media posts may max out at 500-1000 views but my page views have a consistent baseline of 30k/a month. And I haven't posted in a bit.

Is everyone else this tired all the time? What is the normal energy level of 36 year old because sometimes I think it surely can't be this.

I will now be writing a post about empathy in tech and open source because apparently me saying we need more empathy is controversial

What are we all using for cross posting to sites because the Twitter/Threads/Mastodon/Bluesky and sometimes LinkedIn pipeline is EXHAUSTING

I mean, that’s pretty darn neat.

Font Awesome raised $721,620 to build an open source library of web components. Their goal was $30,000.
I need to collect my thoughts and put it in a blog post but I'm curious what the community's thoughts are on this because that is not a trivial amount of money.
As a web platform PM working in open source and trying to find ways to get funding for projects...was this good marketing? Is it selling a different solution to what's already out there?

2024-04-20 12:20:11 UTC

I’m just wondering how people would react if I posted I was handing out books on Wicca and Witchcraft that I’d signed at a tech conference.

I got the job and I can't wait to share it with y'all 😭
