Thinking it as "entering the 19th century" saved me a lot of headache in high school history. Which isn't much, considering they did the whole "Left brain vs. Right brain political ideology compass" thing to 15 year olds to find out if the brain drain by cutting public education funding is working

Man, that OoT trailer was very underwhelming. It’s cool to have a modern remake, and I’m sure the game will be fine. But does it really need to have hyper-realistic details?

Yesterwynde definitely seems to have more memorable songs. EFMB and H:II:N had a vibe where Tuomas was playing it safe to see how he could incorporate Floor's vocals. The only one I really can remember sticking out was 'Noise', and I think that has to do more with the music video.
I think where it went wrong on Yesterwynde is that it was recorded more for Dolby Atmos systems, something that recently came widely available in streaming, than earbuds or small home speakers. So a lot of the grandeur gets lost to the average person without it

I’d stop supporting Napalm Records entirely. Whether it was a band decision or a label decision, they greenlit the video to be featured on their and the band channel. It’s a shame, because the new song is genuinely good. It’s clear the direction the band wants to go if there was no pushback from them

I think it’s worth remembering that the pilot is always the rough start. They have to find ways to explain the general story without spoiling the entire thing. I certainly thought by the end scene, it clicked what it’s supposed to be about and I’m more than curious as to where it goes.
Given 2D animation requires an incredibly time consuming amount of effort to pull off, even with a cracked expert team they had, I’m willing to give them some room for the faults. If Glitch greenlights full funding, I’m willing to bet we’ll see significant improvements when the first episode comes around.
I mean, it’s why Lackadaisy is taking so god damn long to finish (but I also think the creators bit off more than they can chew because of how long it has been taking)

I will never forget when I found out about Nixon advisor John Ehrlichman’s interview about what drove the criminalization of marijuana during his time.
In his own words:
“You want to know what this was really all about?
The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and Black people. You understand what I’m saying? We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or Black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and Blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news.
Did we know we were lying about the drugs?
Of course we did.”
It’s always been racism.

The best way to fulfill such a feat is to get to know your friends over a long period of time. Like, more than two years, minimum. The longer the better.
It sounds great to move in on a whim with crinkle friends at first, especially if you’ve spent brief time with them at cons/meets. Those tend to bring out the best side of people and the vibes will be amazing. But if they don’t have the capacity to set boundaries and commit to responsibilities with you outside those scenarios, and vice versa, things can fall apart quickly.
The key to a stable home with other people is treating them as a roommate first, friend second. It sounds a bit cold and there’s nothing wrong with helping each other out from time to time as long as debts get repaid. But I would say money and lack of understanding personal space are the #1 factor of households falling apart.
If someone is irresponsible with money (for example) to where their bills and rent are constantly behind, but they always buy new toys, cub clothes and diapers without paying back, your friendship with them will sour in a matter of months.
That’s not to say there aren’t nuances to all of this. Sometimes, friends get laid off or fired for bad reasons. Sometimes, mental illness takes over and they stop taking care of themselves. That’s when it’s okay to be more friend than roommate, especially when you know they can be responsible any other times.
I think I got all the basics: Be clean, be respectful, do your best to pay your bills on time, and everything good will follow

2025-11-04 00:38:06 UTC
