Will RCS support require Sandboxed Google Play? Or is it intended to work completely independently?

The only good thing is that some countries moved from supporting to undecided. The bad thing? It's not opposing❗Which means this is likely just a pause - a temporary shift before they slide back into support. We cannot let that happen! 🚨
And while my words might sound like nothing has changed - that this is just a formality - it's actually the opposite. This is a sign. A chance. Proof that pressure works 💥 That countries now prefer to show support in the quietest way possible 😶
But it also means they're afraid :neocat_scream_scared: They know we're watching :eyes_happy: They know we're paying attention. And that means we can influence their final decision. Because if this law passes loudly, publicly, and visibly - people won't vote for the same representatives again. And that would mean the very people who pushed this law would have to live under it themselves 🔁
So I'm asking you - use this moment! ⏰ Do something. Anything! They won't move forward if there's a real risk of falling into their own trap.
You can contact your MEPs. You can reach out to local media and ask them to cover this. And if you have the means - organize a protest. If one happens near you - go! This is likely one of the last chances to act :fist_paw:
Because if we don't, the monster won't just knock. It will come for us all :demon:

Yes, me too. But the team wanted something more universal, something that better describes what the app will do. So I said, okay, if it helps the app, then we'll do it 🙂

After a long and tricky discussion with the team, we decided to go with the name LibreConnect 📱💻 It's simple, technical, and full of meaning - it reflects the idea of connecting devices without creating dependency, with a strong focus on privacy and control 🔐 It also brings LibreOffice to mind, which fits our philosophy: openness, transparency, freedom :heart_cyber:
Big thanks for all your suggestions :neocat_heart: Each one was considered and helped us look at the project from different angles. Even if it wasn't picked, it still shaped the app. Because open-source is not just about code - it's about community 💜

Oh right - I forgot to mention that GrapheneOS only works on Pixel devices 😅 So maybe it's worth considering one of those models as your next phone? Even used Pixels are often well-priced and work great with the system.
If you need a solution right now, it's worth checking out projects like /e/OS or LineageOS - they support many more devices. I have to admit, in terms of security, they're a bit behind GrapheneOS. I haven't used them for long myself, so it's hard to say how they perform in practice, but they're often recommended as alternatives.
In the end, it's your decision - personally, I'd wait and get a Pixel next time so I can install GrapheneOS 🔐

When it comes to my computer, I use Linux - specifically Debian :linux: But I guess your question was about my phone - I use @npub1kwa…e0nj. It's a custom ROM based on Android that focuses a lot on privacy and security 🔐 Right now, it's considered the most secure system for mobile devices.
By default, it doesn't include any Google services, but you can install them in a sandbox - they work like regular apps with precise permission control ⚙️ The system even lets you block apps from accessing the network or sensors.
GrapheneOS also has stronger security - many vulnerabilities just don't exist on it, and if they do, they're fixed much faster than in AOSP. I get updates every few days 🔄
Sounds too good to be true? Actually, no - GrapheneOS works just like the regular Android on :google: Pixel devices. The interface, how you use it, and the overall experience are almost the same, so there's no learning curve. The system runs smoothly, is stable and responsive - I haven't had any bugs, crashes or app compatibility issues ✅
About payment apps - I only use cash :yellow_money:, so I haven't needed them. From what I know, some of them work fine, especially if Google services are installed in the sandbox. If any don't work, the GrapheneOS community has good documentation for workarounds and alternatives 📚 So any issues are more about setup than system limitations.
Installing the system is easy - you unlock the bootloader, enter fastboot mode, and click a few times on the install page 🖱️ You can find more info at https://grapheneos.org.

I've been working for a long time to become independent from Big Tech :empire:, and now I can say that none of their services are my main tools anymore - not even the operating system 📱 I still have a few accounts left because of social dependencies, but I already have a plan to get rid of them. It's a long-term process, but I'm not planning to stop :rebel:

The final hours. The last chance. But not the last fight.
Today, 🇩🇪 Germany said NO to ChatControl 💥 This could be the turning point 🔄 But it is not the end.
If tomorrow we manage to block this proposal - it will be a victory 🎉 But digital freedom does not defend itself. It must be protected. Every day. In every decision. In every update. In every voice 📢
Now is the time to do everything that is still left:
- Write to your MEP :protonmail:
- Share information 🔁
- Mobilize others 🤝
- Do not stay silent 🤐
Because even if we win tomorrow - it is only the beginning. Because even if we lose - it is not the end.
Freedom does not vanish loudly. It disappears quietly :ghosty: Unless we defend it ✊

I'm working with a small team on an app that aims to improve integration between computers and mobile devices 📱💻, with a strong focus on privacy, control, and transparency :heart_cyber:
We've been using the working name Pablo Connect. It's based on my pseudonym, and to me it makes sense. It's personal and honest :neocat_heart: But the team doesn't really like it :blobcatsadreach: They feel it's too casual or just not fitting for a wider audience. Maybe they're right.
So I'm asking here. We're looking for a name that's simple, original, and strong enough to carry the project forward :blobcatstrong: Something that reflects the idea of connecting devices and people without creating dependency 🌐 A name that doesn't sound like a corporate product, but also doesn't fade from memory after three seconds.
If you have any ideas, suggestions, or even just a word that comes to mind - feel free to share :sparkles_fiery: Sometimes one good word is enough to spark the right direction. Thank you! :blobcatadorable:

Does this mean this will be the end of GrapheneOS support for Pixels?

Are you open to working with different OEM manufacturers, or do you plan to stick with the one you're currently partnering with?
