Did they look for contamination? Because not finding might mean they didn't bother looking, and not reported doesn't mean not detected.
FTFA: radiological surveys found no detectable levels of contamination, according to an updated notice from SRS.
"No radiological contamination has been reported," the spokesperson said.

"Whilst workers will usually resist a reduction of money-wages, it is not their practice to withdraw their labor whenever there is a rise in the price of wage-goods"
- Keynes, John Maynard. The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money (p. 7).
In other words, you won't take a pay cut when labor gets cheaper, so they'll just raise the prices of everything else. Bonus is all the favored people get first access before inflation hits.

@nprofile…c965 @nprofile…xrfj currency debasement is only possible because of the massive productivity gains we in the first world have experienced over that same period. Not just the mass production of transistors, but the telecom revolution and resultant unleashing of new creations that no one would have considered prior to.
60% of the jobs that are currently being worked didn't exist 50 years ago (unverified, but sounds plausible).

We had a 23dB EDFA that would burn optical connectors if they had any contamination, including residues from the alcohol cleaner. Eventually the face of the connector would get pitted and power would drop. Usually once a year. One time the fiber engineer “took charge” and tell me I wasn’t cleaning it well enough and so he did it himself. Just to show me how it’s done.
His cleaning job lasted two weeks.

@nprofile…l4kz AI is going the route of the personal computer. The first PCs were hobby machines sold to small companies that couldn't justify their own minicomputer. The big corps didn't want or need them because they had big iron that ran rings around a Z80, and the workflow was built around adding machines and typewriters. When the small companies grew they kept the PCs. A lot of big companies have PCs on desks, running 3270 screen scraper apps.
Or just 3270 emulators.
