Downtime! Nostria Media Server, Relay Server and Indexer Relay will be offline for some days beginning Sunday 13th. Nostr is luckily desentralized so hopefully shouldn't affect too much, but your media in your posts might not be accessible if you solely rely on Nostrias servers. We're sorry for the inconvenience. The downtime might be prolonged. To prepare, you can sync your media library under Collections/Media to any other media server.

Has been fixed and deployed to the web app - updated app for Zapstore and desktop installers is coming within an hour. Will continue to add more improvements today.

Nostria downloads! #Nostria has previously only been available as an web-app shell (for Windows, Android and iOS), where it always loads the app from the web server.
This has now changed and the web app is embedded into the app itself, and can be installed as a desktop app for all platforms, including Linux and Mac.

Yes!
There is a NIP in the works for metadata-event attached to the blossom media. Nostria will support this when it's ready, perhaps it is ready already?

Media Library is now capable of showing encrypted media and files that you have sent in private messages. Instead of seeing generic thumbnails, it allows you to play back video, pictures - and even look at encrypted files, right in the media library. It can also lookup posts where you have used the different files. Do you use #Nostria yet?

Some updates:
- Menu and Media Player is merged on mobiles, swipe left or right to rotate the menu and switch between media controls and menu.
- Media Player in Sidebar: You can now move the media player to the right sidebar on desktop; this is a great way to reduce the UI usage for music playback.
- Save to Gifs Sets: If a chat message or event has an image, you can quickly save it to your gifs sets - including the ability to copy the gif from external providers to your own media servers. Liberating the meme and improving privacy.
- Zap animations and sound effects: Depending on how much you zap someone, the crazier the animation and sound effects are. Reward your tiny reptile brain whenever you give value for value.
- Public chats: New menu option called Chats, which are public chats. Create your own or join existing. Share memes, music, media, audio clips, video clips and messages.
- Audio and Video clips: Instantly record audio or video and send on private messages, group messages and public chats.
- Group messages: You can now create group messages! Now is the time to migrate your friends and family chats from other IM apps onto Nostria!
If you have not started using Nostria yet, then there is no better time than right now to boost your Nost experience to the next level!

Anything other than a regular post, should if following the comment NIP, not use kind 1 for comments/replies. Unfortunately, there is still plenty of Nostr apps that uses kind 1 for everything, including articles and polls.
#Nostria will now render a combined view of kind 1 (replies) and kind 1111 (comments). Hopefully everyone will upgrade to follow newer Nostr protocol soon.

There is currently some spam attacks on direct messages on Nostr, some users is receiving messages, each for different account so simply banning is not a good solution, neither is reporting.
Each account is only delivering one message, so you can "Delete" (removes locally) the chats one by one, or you can purge them all from the new Manage Inbox dialog.
Also added Web of Trust filter on the "Others" tab, helping you sort your inbox from non-following profiles.
If someone does not have a rank score yet, that you have already chatted with, they will be included in the "0" rank score and not hidden.

Upgraded the Nostria Discovery Relay for Europe. It was a bit under powered and had some downtime. We're ranking up expenses on service infrastructure...
At the same time, we're building a "dead-relay" monitoring service and adding filter in Nostria app to avoid connecting to relays that are no longer available. This should reduce resource consumption on your devices and improve performance and reliability on finding events.

Content research and content creation is amazing on Nostria! You can save content you discover using bookmark lists, then you can easily add everything from your bookmarks into the article you're writing.
Today we also added import of articles from zip files. You need an unsigned event file and you can include photos and videos in the zip file, it will automatically upload and link to the uploaded media correctly.
Check out this awesome screen recording that shows how we published an article today.

Getting tired of only chronological and global trending feed with the same profiles every day?
We heard you and here is our response!
Some people are getting tired of Nostr, and we get it. If you don't manage your feeds, you'll end up not in control. Instead the feed controls you. This is not what Nostr, and especially not Nostria, is about.
Spend 10 minutes watch (on 2x speed) our video on how to clean up your Nostr feed using Nostria. Nostria has some amazing features that empowers you to manage your content the way you want it, and innovative ways to discover new content.

What content should we produce to help promote Nostria?
- Short form videos that shows off individual features?
- Screenshots?
- Articles that explains different features?
- Post more notes with small updates?
- Make a very long video that explains every single feature?
Planning on doing a long video that demonstrates everything, as it takes time to produce any of this content and that time distracts from building, but it's a balance - without users, why build anything at all?
Nostria strive towards perfection, for elegance and smoothness. To be a trustworthy app and experience that just works, that doesn't fail randomly. At the same time, delivering a massive amount of features, so you don't need context switching between a bunch of vibe-coded apps.
While there is a lot of great smaller Nostr apps, there is a cost-benefit of adopting these. Any smaller and focused app might not get the attention and care as larger apps, as there is smaller user base.
The focus on this post though is to get some feedback on how we can grow the awareness of Nostria, so any suggestions? #asknostr #nostria

2026-02-17 17:48:50 UTC

Hey everyone! We hope you all are enjoying Nostria and we want to ask you all to help spread the word!
But most importantly, we want to know what features are not working the way you expect them to, what do you want changed? What is the feedback you've received from others regarding Nostria?
We want to increase the adoption of Nostr as a social network, we're building Nostria to help with that. Please share any and all suggestions and we'll consider them all.
For example, is there too many features available for first time users? Should we dramatically reduce features and instead have a button to "Go to level 2"? Like your profile starts at Level 1, and you start a journey to unlock new features, to avoid overwhelming anyone that is new here? (of course not "lock" them down, just make it a smoother transition, where a user can jump to level "5" whenever they want).
What features should be removed?
You might have noticed the right side pane? If you favorite someone, it starts showing your favorites. That's not the only thing it's there for. Something is coming very soon that we hope you'll like.

If you come across any bugs or issues as you're writing, let us know and we'll get it fix very fast so you can continue writing and publishing.

The version on app store and installable packages is not connected with the versions of the app itself. Nostria is a progressive web app, and it automatically updates to latest version. The app store is just a shell package that does not carry the same version numbers.
We will update the packages soon, so they get the new icon.

Check out the fresh new UI for posts! A little hidden secret, you can long press or right click on the bookmark button on the right to toggle between icons, icons and labels or labels. Original posts and replies can be different if you like.
