A calm intro to Nostr. No hype
I made this for some newbie onboarding, could possible expand on it later to include more instruction.

Ok I have an update on message privacy thanks @nprofile…9eu0 for the advice.
I installed Ox Chat, signed with Amber,
Now my messages are nip17(?)
So they can't be seen with the npub
That includes contents and when I send a new message (or receive I think)(still need to test that) the new message including person's name etc are no longer visable.
What's more, I don't need to make the message in oxchat,
Instead I can do it on primal or amethyst and it has the private nip17 option in purple next to the message box. Which is neat, cause I can message someone off their profile for example instead of opening oxchat and trying to route it that way.
I think this has fixed the message privacy issue.
Now to deal with the posts...
I now understand that all posts are public facing for ever signed by me.
In future ( looks at the tech nerds)
It would be great if we have an option for only showing to followers.
Or making it private.
That will change the game for growing the user base.

I have both wavlakes and fountain.
Fountain is behind a paywall (which I won't pay unless I find it to be a useful tool and a replacement for most the centralized stuff.
I have uploaded 1 song to both platforms.
Or to wavlakes and it's populated to fountain.fm (honestly it's a little confusing but I'll figure it out soon)
I'll check out music stacker

Oh and to answer your message question,
I can see how many messages, from who, and I can go into the messages.
BUT the messages are encrypted and I can't read them.
Still enough data to be concerning though

That's a big consideration for porting over from old media.
At least on fb and insta I knew mossad, asio and the CIA were watching me, but that if I set something to just my friends list, only my friends could see it (and mossad,CIA,asio) but not every other joe blow out there

No I get that,
But I've taken my npub, used that, to sign into my phone, and I can see all my activity...
Even who's in my inbox.
That's not concerning to anyone?

Quick question Nostr fam.
I logged in with my npub on another phone.
No signer no authentication,
While I can't post on the second phone, I can still see all my notifications, I can see who has messaged me and who I've messaged.
I tried to post on that phone
I can't do that (thankfully)
And I can't send it see the message contents. But I can see how many messages etc.
So literally anyone can log in to a client with someone else's npub and see all this info?

The tale of Comte de Sats. A heartbreaking tale of loneliness and bravery...
He called out to the void..."hello...? Is anyone out there?!?!?!' and the void was cruel.and dark, and offered no response.
He cried that night... And for weeks thereafter... He crawled into a little ball at the edge of the void and rocked backwards and forwards as he sobbed..
Lonely... Scared... Like a lil baby koala, shivering in the rain..
Then, one cold dark and rainy morning...
"He... He.... Herroowww...?"
Could it be? A voice from within the void...???
Emotions surged through Germain like a wave of Sats through his body!
He peers into a darkness and then he saw it... An outstretched hand... With fingers n shit.... He took it I. His own...
To be continued....
So yeah that's pretty much your story of how you started hey?

This is rather funny that in this infinite space you speak of you still managed to gravitate to this morons rhelm!
Thank you for the slap in the face and the roses! Very helpful and I agree with what you are saying.
My goal in making this video and many others is to be the bridge.
And obviously to find a home for myself for the future.
Nostr is looking like greener pastures and I'm very excited for it.
Furthermore on being the bridge, it seems to me if I were to break this down simply,
You have the tech savvy already on here who obviously also use Bitcoin, block chain etc. it's second nature for them, nsec and npub and using these over multiple "apps" for one identity is second nature to them,
Then you have the fb crowd who won't understand a bit of this, and just want to see what their mates are up to or make posts and be seen, share their creativity.
I think we have in front of us a unique opportunity to bring both worlds together and have a nice campfire and all be friends. Lol
I realise I'm over simplifying this but I hope you get the jist from this rambling moron.
I know I've only just scratched the surface, but I know there is treasure underneath that surface and I'm going to keep digging!
😁
Thanks for reaching out.

After spending about a week on Primal, a few things have stood out to me, enough that I felt it was worth sharing honestly.
First, the people.
I have felt welcomed, and that matters.
That said, the platform itself has felt very Bitcoin-heavy.
I want to be fair here, this could simply be my first-week experience. It may come down to who I’m following, or the default accounts suggested when you first sign up. I actually had to unfollow around 300 default accounts and am currently following only a handful of people.
So this might not reflect Nostr as a whole, but first impressions matter.
For someone coming from Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok, that initial feed can feel overwhelming. This is especially true after already navigating the learning curve of protocols, relays, wallets, npubs, and nsecs.
Another small but noticeable difference is posting style. Heavy text-and-link posts and hashtags mid-sentence. It’s not wrong, just unfamiliar, and it adds friction for new users.
I don’t think the solution is asking people to change how they post.
A simple improvement could be better onboarding. Clearer account recommendations at sign-up, or even a short interest-based survey to help new users find content that actually resonates with them.
For my part, I want to be the change I want to see here.
I’m going to post the way I did on TikTok and Facebook. Real, creative, human content. Not following an existing Nostr trend, but bringing genuine social energy into the space.
My hope is that by doing that, I can help build, at least around me, the kind of decentralized social experience I’d actually want to use.
This is just one creator’s first-week perspective. But I suspect others may feel the same.

Hey Matt!
Thank you!
We definitely need to make this an easy process for Artists and Creators.
It certainly wasn't easy for me. (there were times I was curled in a ball in the corner sobbing)
But hopefully we can make this an easy process for people who want to leave the centralized realm.
I think it's up to us, those before us and those after us to teach and educate and welcome in the new ones!
So I appreciate you for sharing and reposting!
