@nprofile…9xd3 I have a Sonoff too (plus another brand) and mine wouldn’t reliably respond, but I never knew about the run for x time… is that exposed via ZHA? The new setup is going to have the runtime programmed right into ESPHome with the minutes as a variable that can be changed. It’s also going to have a max runtime hard coded in. HA will trigger a virtual button/momentary switch to start a round of watering.

I’m working on building a small irrigation system for a flower bed & a vegetable bed and have learned a lot in the last few days! It’s comprised of various parts that balance reliability and ease of assembly & maintenance. The goal is a highly reliable system with failsafes that prevent water being left running unexpectedly like happened last year as a result of the ”easier” path.

Since I had a bunch of stuff hanging around, I decided to make my own controller for a couple of strands of lights on my porch that I want to control with #WLED. A strip will connect to each screw terminal block, power will come into the board with one pigtail, and the other pigtail will facilitate power injection to the far end, if needed. I’ve got a weather proof box and a power supply coming tomorrow and am kinda excited to finalize my first outdoor diy setup (I’ve only done indoor before).

I get not being able to wait on long term holdings, but that doesn’t negate the usefulness both for those with time and of using lightning for nearly fee-less payments instead of debit or credit cards. Regarding people losing interest, that’s also true of the majority of stocks out there.

@nprofile…u6yu also, regarding volatility, if you look on the 3 year plus timeframe it’s always been positive… literally no one has ever lost money if holding for 3+ years.

@nprofile…u6yu the thing with bitcoin is it’s for long term holding. The other use case is when it’s combined with the layer 2 network called lightning for instant borderless peer to peer payments, be they fractions of a cent (a few sats) or very large amounts. Lightning is what point of sale systems generally utilize and why there are virtually no fees (a few cents per transaction vs 5% to a credit card processor).

As a result, those of us who have been following this closely reassembled, determined there was no longer hope of really working together, and that it was time to move forward accordingly.
