Democrat without apology

#StillWithHer #VoteLikeBlackWomen #ForThePeople #GoodTrouble

I was prepared for this fuckery, dear.

Middle-aged white chick living in SoCal. Works in IT, follows politics, loves comics and LotR. Often cranky.

I voted for the smart woman in the pantsuit. Both times.

It covers pretty much any socio-political change event you can imagine.

It's simply a fact that showing up is half of life. If you don't show up, you miss out on what is being offered. Others *will* show up and then *they* choose the direction to go in, not you.
Show up. Vote.

The truly tragic part of this is the GOP could stop the tariff insanity dead in its tracks in 24 hours if they gave the slightest damn about stabilizing the market. They don't even need to care about the nation or the people, just their own investment portfolios.

I'm sitting here thinking back to my work for [redacted] & my mind is *reeling* at how much information has to have been removed from the secure environment & placed into not merely the ordinary "secure" side, but moved into their *personal*, utterly unsecured locations/environments.

Not knowing who they have added to the chat takes the cake, I believe.
I have done military IT contracting. I have held a security clearance. This violates EVERYTHING you are supposed to do with ANY knowledge that could possibly be considered sensitive, let alone classified.
I once called out a Captain for walking through a doorway into a secure hall with his personal phone in his back pocket. He apologized & ran out of the zone to secure the phone.

So, seeing the news about the shitgibbon trying to take control of the USPS so he can interfere with voting, it's a good time to start planning NOW for how to support voting.
Presume that the fascists will try to keep a semblance of elections operating & will use traditional Southern anti-voter activities. We need to:
* State by state get everyone registered that we can.
* Stay on top of voter roll purging
* Presume in-person voting in limited locations w/limited times

My reaction wasn't that strong, but it *was* stronger than previous Covid vaxes. I think the updated formula in the dose is the culprit here.
Also, get that pneumonia & flu & RSV & whatever else vaccine you are offered. These suckers work! If you haven't had a shingles vax, look into that, too, but NOT at the same time as the others. That thing will knock you flat.
Hope you're back to normal soon!

Something people need to wrap their minds around is how deeply the GOP hates America. A land of freedom, frenetic energy, experimentation, blending, moving, newness, independence, critical thought, challenging what has gone before.
They hate & fear it & us, those who embrace this chaotic maelstrom of modernism & humanity, & want not just subjugation, but eradication.
When you wonder what may happen in 2025, remember this. There is no end to their terror & no bottom to their cruelty.

Your refusal to vote for a non-white woman as president, putting into office a sadistic criminal surrounded by others like him, backed by fundamentalist theocratic fanatics pretending to be a political party, protected by a crudely authoritarian Supreme Court, & embraced by the cruelest, wealthiest & most inhumane billionaires across the globe, will come back to bite you in the ass.
Sadly, it will do the same to the rest of us, too.

Social Security is no longer a going concern. W wanted to privatize it. Trump & his cronies will just pocket it. You may still be obliged to pay it, however.
Obamacare is toast. It will probably be one of the first things axed because of Trump's hatred of Obama. Have fun going back to private, job-based health insurance that can refuse to cover pre-existing conditions.
You don't have any of those, right?
Minimum wage increases? Pffft, don't make me laugh.

Women are going to have their rights & control over their lives steadily reduced. If you couldn't bring yourself to vote for Harris, I'm sure you'll be cool with losing access to birth control for starters. Maybe you will have to have your father/ brother/uncle/ husband/son give you permission to work outside the home or have a credit card, like in the 60s!
Think about the restrictions on women's autonomy in states like Iran, Afghanistan & Saudi Arabia, & you see where they're going.

Enjoy watching the Saudi-funded Trump condos going up on the beaches in Gaza. Not only will the hope of Palestine be extinguished, all Palestinians will have been killed.
Hmm, maybe Palestinians in the US will be stripped of rights, de-naturalized & deported to Gaza. Bibi will be glad to provide a "solution" (so to speak) for these people.

Trump & Musk have promised to crash the economy. Welcome to your job loss! Welcome to a roll-back of unionization.
Maybe you're a naturalized citizen. Kiss that goodbye. Repealing naturalization is a wet dream of Stephen Miller's, along with ending birthright citizenship. If Trump's a dictator, no Constitutional restrictions on reversing this practice.
You think your whiteness will protect you from this? Maybe. Will it protect your non-white spouse or SO? We know it won't.

Your failure to vote is as much a vote as if you filled in the bubble next to Trump's name. Far too many of you did that, too.
If you, a white Dem woman, did not vote for Harris, you should die of pregnancy complications. You know it's what the GOP will legislate, a national abortion ban. You need to share the fate of the other women you have consigned to this misery.
White dudes, may your children be maimed & die of childhood diseases when vaccines are banned.

2024-11-07 01:43:11 UTC

I went for a very long walk today, mulling over the election.
Trump was not more popular than before. His voters declined by 3 million. He experienced the effect he should have, reduced to his hard-core fanatics.
The WTF of the election was the drop-off in Dem votes. 14 million, possibly more, from 2020. The vast majority of the drop was in white Dem voters.
WHITE DEMS PUT TRUMP BACK IN THE WHITE HOUSE.
Since you did, I fervently hope you get what you voted for.

Banning "abortion" has always been described in narrow terms: faithless hussies who want to be rid of a "mistake" after a night of passion. Make the whores deal with the consequences of their slutty behavior!
Dobbs is making everyone confront that abortion is part of women's health care, a medical procedure that preserves the woman's life, health & reproductive future. Only the woman & her medical team know what needs to be done & why.
That is why women are turning out in historic numbers.

2024-11-04 04:44:18 UTC

Women are literally dying in horrible ways because of abortion bans. Women who wanted that child & who want another child are being left to die because a wad of tissue has been given greater rights under the law than the woman lying on the gurney while she bleeds out.
This is what happened before, too, but icky woman stuff isn't newsworthy. It's the wrong kind of bleeding.
But this time we have more resources, money of our own, & a determination that we aren't going back.

2024-11-04 04:34:23 UTC

- reply

I guess the guys all thought we womenfolk would just meekly go back to the world before Roe. This stuff wasn't in the news then. Women were silent & it wasn't really a big deal & having a baby isn't a big deal & it didn't really affect women's lives or cause suffering or do much besides some girls got illegal abortions & we'll just go back to that state of affairs.
Right?

2024-11-04 04:27:58 UTC

- reply

And since the guys, who are all serious fellows reporting on serious issues, decided that the icky woman stuff was not serious to them, they felt comfortable ignoring it as a niche issue, not something that needed to be addressed as a substantive concern that would upend 50-year-old political allegiances.
Their bodies were not being torn asunder for political gain, after all.
Women would just deal with it as a changed circumstance & life would go on.

2024-11-04 04:17:14 UTC

- reply

They didn't like reporting on the way Harris foregrounded the brutal, fatal cruelty that Dobbs & the rush to criminalize abortion has had on women. The deaths. The maiming. The sadism.
Meanwhile, the MAGA crew blandly dismissed opposition to their re-domestication of American women as selfishness or mere political difference, sanitizing the assault, shutting the doors on the stories of blood & grief.
Some kinds of bleeding will not become a leading story, it would seem.

2024-11-04 04:11:24 UTC

The MSM has "missed" this critical (& entirely predictable) voting pattern because it is just icky woman stuff, something already accounted for in GOP women's anti-abortion stance. The guys were confident that there was no significant fallout from Dobbs. Never mind the fury in Kansas. And Ohio. And Arizona. And Iowa. Etc.

2024-11-04 04:07:48 UTC

It strikes me that the "news" that women voters, especially older women voters, are breaking heavily for Harris has been known by the campaigns for a while. The fury of the shitgibbon's team over the idea that women might defy their husbands & vote for Harris is perfectly in accord with this information, not to mention their perpetual hostility to older women.

Harris' speech on the Ellipse has garnered some gleeful responses because it was at a minimum 5 times the size of TFG's 1/6 crowd (75K vs. 15K), but there is another, deeper contrast.
The 1/6 riot was a maximum call-up of Trump's thugs. It took weeks to organize & huge amounts of money. That was their maximum effort while in complete control of the executive branch & with dozens of active agents inside the Congress to empower their invasion.
They failed. Bigly.

I suspect the precipitating cause of TFG's rage against Taylor Swift this morning is being served with a lawsuit by her crack legal team for all his lies about her.
Even so, the public outburst is intended to foment violence against Swift & her fans by the orange shitgibbon's terrorist followers.
Cadet Bone spurs & Private Couch fucker have centered terrorism in their campaign. They've made clear they want their fascist followers to threaten, assault & murder their way to power.

He outwitted them.
He knew what a partner he has in Harris, he knew how every tiny error he might make would be amplified, & he knew what it would do to the nation to be torn at week after week, crippling his campaign.
Biden pulled the rug out from under the nay-sayers, the doubters, the would-be Machiavellis. He launched Harris into this campaign, trusting her to do the job, & now he is focused on the nation, determined to defend it to his last day.

What I am loving about the convention tonight is how wide the range of speakers is. We've got youngsters, we've got the war horses, we've got every constituency, we've got office holders from local to the WH, we've got ordinary people from every walk of life and they are all in for this fight. No pampering bruised egos, no infighting, no disagreements or power-plays.
This is joy & hope made flesh.

Why is Walz so damn effective against fascist bullies?
Because he spent decades teaching high school & dealing with this kind of hateful childish behavior on a daily basis.
He knows exactly how savage & ruthless children can be to each other & how some carry that forward into their adult lives. He attended a master class in how to fight back with words. Probably taught that lesson, as well.
Walz knows their game better than they do.

2024-07-31 04:42:16 UTC

It occurs to me that all of the excitement & attention surrounding Harris has the effect of giving Biden a quiet space for doing the hard work of governing, something he is extremely effective at doing.
His decisions are no longer under the bright lights of the campaign press circus & its insatiable desire for a new scandal every hour on the hour. The GOP has lost any semblance of an attack strategy because Biden ignores them while Harris keeps setting fires under their tails.
Teamwork.
