If you want to try @nprofile…wtal`s #MastodonBirdUI theme along with the "for you" feed algorithm, here is a guide how to run it locally in containers. The setup is suitable for testing and developing. Have fun!
Of course you can also use other version images if you just want to try out podman.

Alright, crash course to #mastodon hosting basics. It's been long in my mind to try #MastodonBirdUI in #container. @nprofile…qhaz kindly added container build workflow to get fresh images every time @nprofile…wtal makes a new release. Today I learned #traefik and made it load balance birdUI running on #podman. Lot of new things for me, but eventually it works. I'll drop the configs somewhere once I have the time if someone wants to try. And if you already run mastodon from containers, you can easily try birdUI with the new images.

@nprofile…wtal this is really nice! Once it works, would be nice if there was an option to have different algos as list view in mastodon as further development. So in addition to lists, I could choose to change the view from menu to another algorithm once they develop. Or some algorithm selection on top of list viee. And in advanced view they could be columns like lists now. But of course first things first. Very welcome development, thanks!

@nprofile…wtal It's great. Both are. I wish the web based UIs like BirdUI or ELK would let user select the bottom buttons. I use mainly 4 lists, and it's impossible to switch from list to another while doom scrolling on mobile one handed. I never use other than the home and post buttons, but find it complicated to go for lists without dropping the phone. I wish it was easier to switch the list.

@nprofile…hepp Reminds me of Zurich birthday long ago, when they had cows painted differently all over the city. Some of them still exists. Is this in Boston?

As a reminder, if you want to measure electricity usage with #HomeAssistant from any meter, check out glow! Easy #EspHome device. I just set it to listen our new meter led, until I get the proper connector.

Interesting thread. I also picked a car from Bavaria, 10 years ago. In Finland we have awful car prices due tax. Is it due such or just the amount of choice that made you get it from there?

@nprofile…jpfa @nprofile…e0eu täällä vähän toistakymmentä vuotta ollut sama Jura Ena. Tänä talvena ekaa kertaa pragasi. Avasin, putsasin koneistoa ja hieman sipaisin rasvaa rulliin. Toimii taas mainiosti. Laatutuote kyllä.
