Here’s a great blog post by @npub1fdr…lvhs explaining why people like me install adblockers the second after they install a browser, and very often run the likes of Piholes to also filter adtech and malware at the DNS level where possible.
I understand a lot of online publications rely on ad revenue (and I pay for some of them), but between them being a #tracking vector and one of the main ways of how certain companies build their dossiers on you, them being used as a #spyware delivery vector (which is not new, btw) is about 15 bridges too far.
But hey, apparently #1984 was an instruction manual and not a warning.

Someone's preparing for the stresses of #Caturday while I listen to the new Kamelot album, err, I mean am hard at work.

Forgot to post on #Caturday, so here’s a photo to make up for it.
And yes, this is one of those “how can this be comfortable even if you’re a cat?”. But I guess that’s how he keeps up his core strength.

Late contribution to #Caturday - I went a-motorsporting a couple of Saturdays ago, and someone had to hold my hand and nap on it for well over an hour the next day.

Thanks! I've not ridden an S1000XR, probably should try one at some point.
I nearly cross-shopped the Interceptor with the used T120 I bought. Really like what RE is doing these days.

that's one of those questions where I might have to also use my toes to help count, and not because I used to work at a sawmill :). One could say I've got a bit of a bike acquisiton problem.
My current "main" bike is a 2016 Bonneville T120, but I also have several BMWs from the 80s and 90s including an R100GS, a couple of 1970s Morinis and a Honda CB400 Four. Plus there's an early 2000s Harley Softail that's more of a project then it was supposed to be.

Went to a local-ish Triumph/BMW/Indian/Royal Enfield/MV Agusta #motorcycle dealership and was not really tempted by any of the bikes.
OK, the main reason to go there was because they're also the local Schuberth dealer. Still, The Wife is wondering if I'm somehow not feeling well because something's clearly wrong with me.
I mean, the new R12 G/S looks cool, but as the second coming of the R80 G/S it's lacking some of the extra practicality that its ancestor had. You know, like usable passenger accommodation.
And seeing an R1300GSA in the flesh for the first time - my, that thing really hit every branch of the ugly tree on the way down and then climbed back up for another go.
I kinda liked the Triumph Scrambler 1200X, but not for the price. The one bike I like for about three seconds was an Indian Chief - until it hit me just how honking big that thing is. I'm not saying it's a boat, but you probably need a tug for a three point turn.
Oh, and while Schuberth helmets usually are a perfect fit for me, the flip up lids do not agree with my bonce . They're seeing if they can get some different thickness liner panels for the new Shoei Neotec 3 to adjust fitment, otherwise I guess I'm done trying to get a flip-up lid.
I guess that's a successful day or something.

Today was the first time since my cataract surgery that I rode a #motorcycle . I've been back to driving cars relatively shortly after both eyes were done, so this had more to do with the fact that this weekend was the first weekend in what felt like months when one could go for a ride without having to pack a snorkel and a life jacket.
My, these motorcycle things are rather fun, aren't they?
Although I have to have a closer listen to the engine on the #Triumph as that seem to make some unexpected noises that even the ear plugs couldn't quite mask. IOW, it appears normal service is slowly resuming...

What's everyone's take on the "best" #emacs for macOS? I've been using the railwaycat/emacsmacport/emacs-mac via homebrew for a long time, but that seems to be still at 29.1.
Are there any other good Emacs ports to macOS out there that I should be looking at?

So apparently, if you accidentally hit the wrong button in one of #Windows11's stupid backup dialogs that seem to pop up with depressing regularity, it will start backing up your data to OneDrive, even if you have another backup software installed and running.
And apparently you can't stop the sync once it started, and have to wait until the initial sync is finished before you can stop & disable the sync and then hopefully nuke the data from the cloud drive that wasn't supposed to get there in the first place.
While I'm not a huge fan of #Apole's stance on #righttorepair, none of my MacOS and iOS devices had me accidentally sync data to the cloud that wasn't supposed to be there.
#Microsoft, what are you doing to your customers? I've been using Windows since 3.0, so one would think that I should know by know how to drive it.
I'm rather infuriated and frustrated by this #enshittification. This machine is mostly running #Linux anyway other than for the very few times I absolutely need Windows. Like, for the three times a year I fire up a game.
I'm guessing that I'm also about to retire my two additional Windows laptops and replace them with a #MacOS laptop. Yes, I could stick Linux on there but for various reasons, that's not going to help much.
