Not-at-all-radical suggestion:
Let's ban #fireworks.
They litter the world, they cause burns, fires and other damage, and they terrify my dogs.
Ban them, and everyone gains. 🙏👍👏👏👏

Does anyone know of, or can recommend, an online #philosophy #discussion #forum that is not centred on abuse and argument (meaning 'fight')?
Friendliness and courtesy is what I seek...
Can you help, please? 🙏

Yes!!! But not so much "grief" as RESENTMENT, for how unnecessary it all was and is. 😡

So #GreenParty material was also offered in #Urdu. What's the big deal?
If #GortonAndDenton had been a community in rural #Wales, it would make sense to offer material in #English too, for those constituents who don't speak the native tongue.
So again, what's the big deal?

Servility, yes. But what else can we do? Trump, Putin, Netanyahu, and all the other gangsters have nuclear weapons, and they'll use them if they become angry enough. We dare not resist, or they will kill us all. EVERYONE.

Yes, in recent years I have moved toward the conclusion that AmeriCapitalism (the flavour of Capitalism favoured and practised by Americans and their satellites) is the historic and continuing cause of #climatechange Quite possibly the *only* cause?
I have a lot of respect for young #GretaThunberg 👍

Sorry, I think I had problems untangling your words.
But the equation of discrimination against Jews (always wrong) with criticising the political nation-state of Israel ... just makes me Very Angry. One is (rightly) a crime, the other is legitimate political comment.
But the awful "a-s" word combines the two as though they are the same thing. This means that, if I criticise Israel, they say "a-s!", and tar me with the brush of Holocaust support, or something equally vile. 😭

2025-06-03 11:48:16 UTC

Israel critics are sometimes also pursued here, on Mastodon, by extremists of the opposite opinion. They will report your post, and seek to tarnish you with the awful lie that is "anti-Semitic". On one side, there is the nation-state of Israel, and on the other, the Holocaust. By accusing you of criticising Israel, they also seek to call you a Holocaust supporter or denier, or one of those terrible perverts who think there's *anything* OK about the Holocaust. 😭 😱

In civilised countries, people also get made redundant. But they get a guaranteed redundancy payment, in recognition of their service.
But your points still stand, just not as serious. The purpose of companies is to make profit. The welfare and wellbeing of its profit-creators (workers) doesn't seem to matter.
Our AmeriCapitalist world is a cruel and terrible place. It is the cause of #ClimateChange (etc). It might be humanity's biggest mistake?
