I like OVH, they have a datacenter (I mean it's more like a small warehouse) in hillsboro. That's where this instance is located. Can't speak for their vps's but their eco servers whenever they pop up are really good deals. Backups are not included by default, would be surprised if anyone really does these days with storage prices...

Come back from vacation thinking we were spared from the bp spam but alas, still hundreds of them. Kinda funny seeing the mailgun lots showing the gmail accounts they used failing to accept emails due to running out of space.

"I do not use AI for writing. The friction is the job" - that's 100% straight from the llms mouth.

I tried the Codex security scanning tool and it found a bunch of stuff, which a non-senior-dev would think oh wow, such an impressive tool!
Not a single thing it found was actually exploitable. Was all minor stuff like "legacy database dump found in git history" - the db dump in question is a test stub file 🙄
There was only one issue that might maybe be a problem, but it was already flagged with traditional tooling and already had a task to address it.

omg, I was sending a photo to someone, taken on an iphone - you know the device so good you can film production stuff on...
I zoomed in and was astounded at the ai-sloppification apple applied to it.
This wasn't passed through any filter or anything, right from my camera roll, cropped of course.
I rarely look back at my iphone pictures but it makes me so mad now knowing they have stuff like this.

Oh, so Microsoft found out how many tokens OpenClaw churns through and got excited about making a couple bucks?
Folks, if you're going to use AI tools, think for a second why it's being pushed so hard. All of the use-cases are things you could do with traditional automation.
Yet to see someone show something that you couldn't do before.

I hear the “it’s good for scaffolding” a bunch and I die a little inside every time. We have excellent tools for scaffolding. Same with listing. It’s really frustrating how much everyone wants to offload existing tech to some black box slot machine.

oh you know the cost today would be a billion or more to bring it up to modern prison standards. It’s insane they’d even consider it, like don’t we have other small islands they could use if they really wanted… oh right it’s not about that.

the funny part about those stupid ai chat widgets - they're either already or will be hit with spam bots flooding it with gibberish. Management likely isn't logging anything from it and wont even know its being spammed and just celebrate how used it is all while their tokens are used up faster making OpenAI richer.

I feel like they almost want to kill the economy so the rich can come in and further consolidate. Wouldn’t be surprised if this is new up killing some of the smaller airlines. Same with everything else.

I'm just waiting for the first major hack/data breach/whatever to happen due to the careless rollout of AI in these orgs. It's going to happen, just a matter of when. Not looking forward to being a "front line" dev having to clean up the mess when the bubble bursts.

the price disparity between Kroger/Safeway and Aldi is just insane. Went into Ralph’s for the first time in about a year and couldn’t believe how much it’s gotten. Aldi has managed to keep prices relatively stable.
